Disposable Tools: Harrisonburg Edition
Posted by: davej - 09-22-2014, 02:23 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (4)

Heard rumors Harbor Freight was opening a store in Harrisonburg, came across and job posting saying they'll be on 33. Looks like it's the old 4 seasons sports or whatever it was next to applebees.

https://community.brcc.edu/communityjobpostings/?p=1577

it's going to make it way to easy to get those one-time-use tools now.

 Hidden Gem in Waynesboro
Posted by: davej - 09-22-2014, 10:41 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (12)

Unfortunate circumstances brought me to Waynesboro on Saturday for the first time. As I was heading home I caught a flash of some old cars inside a storefront, so of course I had to turn around. Turned out to be the home of Porsche nut, Weldon Scrogham and G & W Motorwerkes, Ltd. After spending some time interweb stalking, it seems Weldon and his son Cole are kind of a big deal in P-car land, so maybe some of you guys already knew about them. Weldon mentioned he used to race but now spends his time restoring and judging at a few shows (casually drops Pebble Beach)
His store was really well done, and he took time to show me around to the shop area where he had more amazing vehicles in progress.

It might make a cool MM field trip on a cruise one day to see the cars he has for sale in the store, now on to a few photos.

Cole's Car, won the 2010 National Porsche Parade Concours in Lake Charles with a 299.3/300 score.

It's no Channing Rig, but not bad.

 2009 BMW M3
Posted by: G.Irish - 09-22-2014, 10:29 AM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (53)

So our planned one year Cayman experience is coming to an end and we decided to consolidate down to one car for the time being. We wanted a sport sedan so that narrowed down the list to really only a STi, 2015 WRX, 330i, S3 or M3. Of those cars, the only one with a DCT was the M3, and it was really the best car of the group. I would've been happy with a 6-speed too, but the DCT is much less stressful for the wifey to drive in traffic so it was the best of both worlds.

We had actually decided to buy another M3 about 6 weeks ago at a dealership in Arlington, but after we had agreed to the price, the dealer came back and was like, "Oh, someone else already put down a deposit." Long story short, some reseller that buys cars from them had come by, they then tried to tell me they could switch him to another car but could we improve our offer. Fuck that, you now have to give me a better than agreed price if you want me back in the game. So yeah, that deal fell through.

So we decided to be patient and try to find the color, trim, and leather color combo we wanted. This car popped up last Tuesday, I sent him an email immediately, wired him a deposit, flew out to Dayton on Saturday, bought the car and drove it home.

Since I'll have this car for awhile, I'll probably slap some black wheels on it, and an aftermarket exhaust. Maybe the Akrapovic with the carbon fiber tips. Don't know if I'm going to put a lip or rear diffuser on, none of the diffusers I've checked out sufficiently rustle the jimmies.

Driving-wise I'll be taking it to the college autox and maybe one more autox before it gets cold. Don't know when I'll have a chance to take 'er on track, but it'll probably be next year.

Hey folks, I just realized the only people I follow on Twitter are Scooter and Giancarlo, and as golded as their tweets are, I'd like to broaden my horizons. Post your twitter names below so I can favorite your tweets to show that I like what you're saying, but don't care enough to retweet it.

 MM Camo Hats
Posted by: Jewels - 09-21-2014, 08:30 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (9)

I have two MM camo hats. We never ever wear them, so I figured someone might want them. $$FREE99 If you are a current student I will send them with Rex and you can pick them up from him at his office since he's on campus.

These are mossy oak camo with blaze orange MM logo. I have pictures on my phone, but they didn't sync to my photos yet or I'd post pictures. But seriously, its just 2 hats.

 Wear your fucking seatbelt.

Hey kids. This is a PSA. I know you're all young and invincible, now. But one day you'll have one of these:

Precious cargo in a car you never thought you'd find yourself in. And maybe one day, if you've got shit luck, you'll see a deer run out in front of that car you never thought you'd drive and you'll have just enough time to think "Ok, keep the wheel straight, light grip, firm pressure on brake pedal..." before you get suckerpunched in the face by an airbag.

So drive sober, drive aware, drive like the universe is out to fuckin' kill you...because it is.

Eastside Dragstrip Test and Tune (9/19)
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 09-18-2014, 02:15 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (10)

Edit: THE EVENT TONIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO EASTSIDE BEING UNDERSTAFFED. WE WILL BE GOING NEXT SATURDAY.

Hey folks! Short notice, but that's how these things go. Eastside in Waynesboro (30 minutes south of Harrisonburg) is having a test and tune night on Friday the 19th. It's $10 to watch and hang out with everyone in the stands, or $20 for unlimited runs. All you need is long pants and a helmet to run, as far as I know. If you don't have a helmet, there will be people to borrow one from. If you want to spectate, I'll have an open seat and I'm sure tons of other will too. It's super fun and super cheap and you'll be back in time to drink, so don't worry.

So far, there's quite a few of us going and we're meeting in R1 (baseball lot behind the village) at 4PM on Friday (9/19) to assign rides and head down. Be there or be a quadrilateral with equal length sides and all right angles.

Jeff Johnson - Jeep Wrangler (JKUR)
Posted by: JJohnson - 09-18-2014, 12:53 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (16)

Hey guys,

My name is Jeff Johnson, and I am a temporary Harrisonburg resident. I graduated from VT in May (I know, I know), and am currently working remotely while my girlfriend finishes her Master’s degree at JMU.

After graduating and starting work, I traded in my old Jeep for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. So far I’ve added a 9500lb winch, bought a soft top and tube doors, and some other offroad recovery options. Hoping to add a 2.5” lift and 35’s in the future, but having a car payment is hampering my modding :dunno:

I’m joining to meet some cool car guys and to join some local offroaders to hit trails with. I’ve been around JMU for the last 5 years on weekends while I would see my girlfriend, so I know the area well and have seen some cool rides over my time.

Here are some pictures of my Jeep. I usually ride doorless or with tube doors, and the back piece of my top off. I’ll be switching to a hard top in the next month or so though Sad
