FS: 98 Cherokee, $1,500

I'll get a picture or two up later today, but decided if I didn't finally put the ad up I'd never get around to it. Unfortunately, this thing just doesn't make sense in my life anymore. There are parking limitations everywhere I turn, and the M and runabout get dibs on reserved spaces. It's been a great vehicle to me, and hopefully somebody here will want to enjoy it a little. Full disclosure for MM'ers.

1998 Cherokee 4 door, auto, approximately 160,000 miles. Maybe 165,000. Been a while since I've been inside.
Token bumper dent above the exhaust outlet.
Paint/body is in "fine" shape. It's not gorgeous, but there's really nothing preventing somebody with some time from making it look good. I am not that somebody. I keep thinking I am, but then I never do it.
Has the nice 5 spoke Cherokee alloys, as well as a spare set of some lamer-looking OEMs. Both sets of tires nearing end of life.
No A/C. The compressor died and I replaced it with a bypass pulley (and a new serpentine belt about 10,000 miles ago... maybe less)
4WD works.
3rd brake light needs to be repaired. I wired it to a regular brake. It worked. Eventually that wiring cracked. If you fix like I did, it only takes a few minutes.
Something is off in the alignment. Could be a tweaked rod end or something, could just need to be on a rack. Over 4 years, I have not cared.

Basically: it's a running 15 year old 4x4. Has issues and character. It's never left me stranded, and I've got no reason to believe it will in the future. Not pretty or perfect condition, but the price reflects that. Driving it in the winter with a ton of snow everywhere is pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

I'll check back here, but asteele2 at gmail is the fastest way to get in touch with me. I'm in Northern Virginia. DC, Reston, or Arlington. Take your pick.

Need a place to wash my car

Anyone live somewhere with a hose and bucket I could use? This pollen on my car is driving me nuts. I would be willing to do yours at the same time. I'm pretty damn good at it. Shoot me a text if you do.

Thanks,

Guys- what skills do you wish you'd learned earlier in life?
Posted by: PDenbigh - 09-26-2014, 09:21 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (49)

I started a Reddit Thread on "Guys - what skills do you wish you'd learned earlier?"

I'd love to hear MM's comments either there or here. Really curious to hear the replies, thoughts, and perspectives:

(or at least help by upvoting so more of Reddit sees it)

Thanks!

 Eastside Test&Tune 9/27/14
Posted by: nismosam - 09-25-2014, 06:12 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (7)

Hey all, we'll be meeting up at 4:30pm in the Cici's pizza parking lot(Same parking lot as Martin's and the ABC store on 33) before heading down to Eastside for a night of drag racing!

Test & Tune rates are $10 to spectate, and $20 for as many passes as you can physically drive in the time the track's open (5-9?ish)

Since they had to cancel event last Friday I doubt this one will be, as they usually don't cancel events to begin with.

Turducken 2014 – Nov 15th 2014
Location:
854 Great Lake Drive
Middletown VA 22645

We are bringing the BIRDS back to the woods! Put it on your calendars now, start studying for whatever lame ass test you think is going to cause an issue, tell your family you are busy with important Madison Motorsports business and you can’t come home, wash your hair on Friday… NO EXCUSES ACCEPTED unless you die between now and then (and will pour one out for you). Start planning your carpool/DDs now! I also suggest hydrating as soon as you finish reading this sentence… your body will thank you.

We will have pressurized brewed beverages in a stainless steel container… If you plan on getting women drunk on wine (Goodspeed) you might want to bring some because we don’t usually have that much lying around. We will have the bird and some pake, Justin and Casey are down with some bacon explosions… if you are going to bring something post it up… don’t surprise me with 10lbs of potato salad, my hips don’t need it.

If you have special dietary concerns please PM me and we will try to make sure there is something for you to eat. If you are allergic to Turkey, Chicken, or Duck… you are hosed. If you don’t eat meat you might go a little hungry, but I hear beer doesn’t have meat in it. Sign up for stuff below so we can try to organize this "social activity."

Mains:
1. Turducken – RJ
2. Candy Bacon - Derek
3. Bacon Explosion #1 - Jake
4. Bacon Explosion #2 - Kaan

Sides:
1. Salmon Dip Snowmen - Joey
2. Jalapeno Popper Dip - Jake
3. Mac'n Cheese - Jason
4. Shrimp & Grits - Cabell
5. Mashed Sweet Potatoes (possibly involving bourbon and bacon) - Matthew
6. Green Bean Casserole - Sean
7. Loaded Tater Tot Casserole - Ryan K

Drinks:
1. Wine - DJ and Jess
2. Beer/Drinks - Dan (because a keg isn't enough, this is a fact)
3.

Sweets!
1. Pake – Kaan
2. Oatmeal Cookies and Rice Crispy Treats - DJ and Jess
3. Apple Cranberry Crisp - Sean

For Sale: Coleman RoadTrip Gas Grill (aka. MM Track Grill)
Posted by: navin - 09-23-2014, 04:24 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (14)

Talked with DJ, and he's not interested in purchasing the grill. So before I go grab it back from him and post it up on CL, I figured I'd post this here since it would be an easy hand off + VIR is next week.

Anyways, it's this grill. Pretty lightly used, should have been stored in DJ's trailer most of the time. Maybe if you ask nicely DJ will give you some propane tanks.

Link to amazon for specs: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-9949-750- ... B0009V1BDA

I'm trying to get $75 for it, I take paypal or you can pay me at the track.

 Can we talk about karting?
Posted by: Jake - 09-23-2014, 08:29 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (126)

So I'm hearing rumblings that karting is cancelled this semester because y'all want to use the funds for "more social events" like tailgating and such.

I'm only stirring the pot here because it sounds like car-club-money is going to be used to do some not-car-club things. I really, really enjoy going karting with MM, but frankly, I can grab a Groupon for $35 and go to Summit Point. The "are we going karting?" part disappoints me but not that much. The logic behind it, though...

If we were told that the money was going to be used to get a fuckton of students to VIR and you were renting a van to do it, cool. If no karting meant two big autocrosses this fall instead of one, awesome. If it meant a group 4x4 trip, do it up.

But don't tell us alumni that you're going to cancel one of the bigger events of the semester because you want to tailgate and throw parties. Buy your own damn beer.
