For a while I have been looking for a lift. 2 Herniated discs in high school have left me with never-ending back pain that is just exacerbated by getting up and down under a car, leaning over the side of an engine bay, leaning into suspension/brake area etc. Within the past 8 months, the pain has just gotten worse and my energy level is leveling off. None of us are getting any younger.
My ceiling height is 10ft, but limited by a garage door (which will be fixed and go above the rafters and giving me the full 10ft soon). A standard 2-post is large, and I was limited to the lines going across the floor since I couldn't do an overhead beam. Scissor jack is limiting since I have a RWD car and it is always in the way (my brother has one that I have used). 4-post isn't open enough for my needs since I am constantly doing projects with engines out, not just storage and oil changes.
I came across the Danmar MaxxJax about 2 years ago when it was relatively new. I liked the idea but always thought I would go for a full 2-post. Once I realized it was impossible, I hmmed and hawwed on an expensive purchase. Finally, back pain came on strong this summer and I swore I would buy myself one when it came on sale at Costco. Low and behold, the next month it went on sale at Costco for $1999 shipped. That includes liftgate fees/shipping etc which is a big expense with other lifts. Also paying with an Amex at Costco doubles the warrantee.
It arrives...in a big ugly box. Picture is slightly disassembled to inspect it.

I had a contractor friend come over and help me install it. Once he looked at the anchors I felt better as he said "for the weight you really only need 2 per post. You install 5 per post which we did. We also threw a little epoxy on each one for good measured and tightened them up before the epoxy dried. This is a long process of measuring/drilling/installing anchors. The posts are then tightened down using bolts into the anchors in the floor.
I also got a 30' hydraulic hose made for one side. I ditched the "rolling cart" and hard mounted it to the wall and used the longer hose so the floor is completely clear. Use 10 quarts of ATF (and it was easy to bleed). First test lift of about 4 inches off the ground and I left it overnight to make sure everything was good.

The lift has made my life working on cars infinitely better. Raise or lower the car to where it is comfortable in front of you. Hook up engine, and lift car away. I am going to buy 2 rolling stools but the fold out chairs worked well. Already done the LS1/M3s exhaust, E46 M3 diff/trans fluid, fuel filter, oil change, Part-out of M Roadster, and miscellaneous things on the race car. I frigging love it, should have bought it 2 years ago.
Currently you can be on a fold out chair and sit upright with the garage restriction. Once I change to one of the side garage openers and have the door moved (talked with a garage door guy that said it can go above the rafters), I will be able to really get it nice and high.

Hey guys,
I'm wanting to sell my 2006 Subaru WRX. It's Rally Blue, and completely bone stock. it just ticked over 100,000 a few weeks ago.
Notable service work done to it (besides oil changes, tire rotations etc.) has been replacing a fuel injector on cylinder 4 (it was going bad and was causing a misfire code to flash up every now and then) and I've had the emissions/air pump crap replaced (again, an engine code was flashing up). And I've had a small crack patched in the exhaust.
What else to say about it...it is the "TR" model (corrected from earlier). It has a couple little dings and scratches in the paint here and there, and two rock dings in the front bumper that have caused the paint to flake around them a little bit. but no dents or anything like that. Besides those few things I listed above it's never had any other issues. I've done an oil/filter change every 5,000 miles and only ever used Synthetic oil in it (Either Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synthetic - nothing else). I've had all 4 tires replaced within the last year (all matching), so there's still good tread left on them. It runs well. It runs well, handles well and is pretty quick. I drive it fast, but I don't abuse it. I've never had it to any autocross events or track days, but I'd imagine it would be pretty good for that. I'm the second owner (I knew the first owner from high school) and I don't think he'd ever had it racing either.
I'll try and get some pictures of it later, or if you're really interesting I can meet you somewhere around town so you can check it out up close.
As for the price... I'm honestly not to sure. I've seen regular WRX's listed for as high as 15-16K, and as low as 12K - most with higher miles, or performance mods.

Hey guys,
Relatively new guy here looking to head into the GWNF this weekend. My girlfriend is gone all day Saturday, so I'm looking to use that day wisely and go play with my Jeep :lol: ideally leave town between 10-12 Saturday morning. I could also go Sunday, so if that would work out better for someone else, that’s cool by me
I realize most 4x4 members aren’t local, but I figured I would give it a shot. Nearly all of the potential routes will be stock friendly, so don't worry about needing a sky high 4x4 rig for this.
I can also bring up to 4 passengers if anyone is interested in riding ---- but this can only happen if there is another 4x4 member coming.
I realize this is last second, so I'll make a call sometime tomorrow night if this isn’t going to work out.

I'm doing a track day up at Summit Point the last Sunday of this month.
It's with <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.motorcyclexcitement.com/">http://www.motorcyclexcitement.com/</a><!-- m --> and costs $175 + $25 annual membership.
They have super light racing specs (good condition bike and leathers) and a perfect cancellation policy (even if you just don't want to go that day, pick any other day later). Rental leathers are $75 (act fast for those).

Hey, I don't expect a response to this, but this is just to let any alumni/people I didn't invite on FB or personally know that there will be an MM Ziptie at my house Friday. This has been planned for about a month, but there was no need posting here on the forums until now since I doubt anyone on here will come that hasn't already RSVP'd. Current Member turnout is looking pretty good, but I don't want to leave out any alumni that might be in town and want to join in on shenanigans.
Location: 502 Snowberry lane
Time: 9:30 or later
Details:
This is a semi formal event, so button down shirt, nice-ish pants and shoes.
Bring a date (duh). If you absolutely can't find a date, bring a friend, but there's no promises no one will laugh.
Bring a fifth (of your favorite beverage). Get something low proof if you and your date don't want to wake up naked in a ally somewhere (or get something high proof if that's exactly what you want to happen)
You'll be ziptied together when you arrived and I won't cut you loose until you finish your bottle, or die.
There will be games, pong, quarters, and what-not. Hopefully no wrestling this time around Should be fun. I'll see y'all there!
Sorry Ryan, no Rockband. Having a girl strapped to me might slow down my drumming.

I dunno why, but someone DDOS'd us last night and IX took us offline and sent us a sternly worded TOS email informing us that they took the site down until we could get our ship in order.
I poked around, unfairly blamed & executed my mashup thread with all those videos in it, thinking that youtube plugin was causing the issue. Then I find out that we got gangbanged with by approximately 33,482 POST requests at about 2:15 this morning from some IP in Spain. :dunno:
I blocked the IP responsible for all of those hits and now I'm skimming the log to make sure the other hits around that time are at least from US IPs.
At any rate, that's why we went down. We're back now.

Doubt anyone here is interested, but here's the craigslist ad for my Malibu
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://winchester.craigslist.org/cto/4711480864.html">http://winchester.craigslist.org/cto/4711480864.html</a><!-- m -->
I'd take quite a bit less for someone i know or know by proxy, so if you know anyone looking for a plain jane daily driver, let me know
I know the pics are terrible, but I wasn't about to pull it out in the rain after the detail job I just paid for. Speaking of that, interior freshly shampooed, etc. Paste wax machine applied to exterior. The black paint has some metallic flake to it, looks pretty good. THe pictures hide a bunch of the small imperfections/rock chips, but it looks pretty good overall.
