Spec E46 Built

Many of you know, based on facebook, that I have picked up a build for Spec E46. I was too turned off by the tin canny of Spec E30, I am not man enough to race a miata, and Spec3 is dead as a class. SpecE46 looks like a ton of builds already, and since Bimmerworld is heavily pushing the class, it will probably take off more than many realize.
I was debating building one myself, but in talking with a friend that I used to race with, he had a e46 330i GTS2 car. The price just wasn't going to work. After about 2 months of negotiations we both came to a price we could accept. I will be selling off a lot of stuff on this car to make way for the Spec stuff, and I will list it below; but first, Pictures!!! It was delivered yesterday.
Teaser : ![[Image: 10339715_10102051684609469_3951504307189...e=55112075]](https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10339715_10102051684609469_3951504307189655683_n.jpg?oh=e13fae1da0d58a4ced3f3c97961ef8b4&oe=55112075)
Just kidding, here are real photos:

The car will go through a lot of clean up, and working out final details now but 2015 looks like Raail Performance Coatings partnership and one more sponsor I need to work out details with. It is a good base, and means i get to race NOW instead of the arduous process of a build. This car will most likely be a LOT cleaner than the previous build. The Spec Ruleset allows me a bit more time into appearances instead of "tweaks".
For Sale:
OSGiken 3.64 Limited Slip E46 Non-M differential. Includes Bimmerworld's finned diff cover $2,300
E46 Ohlins inverted Coilovers with Vorshlag camber plates/springs $2600
Active Autowerkes E46 Non-M Headers $800
E46 non-M custom header-back race exhaust $400
E46 Non-M JB Racing Flywheel/sachs clutch, used in good shape - $500
E46 sedan Intake (cone filter for maf with intake box) $50 + stock intake box
Lastly, I have 2x Epic Tunes, Calibration Cable, ECU/EWS/Key, and ZHP Cams all for an E46 330i. Since the ECU is coded to EWS, I am looking to exchange a stock ECU/EWS/key/door lock/trunk lock to make it bolt in for your car. $700 (less than the cost of the ECU tunes alone!!!!) for the whole package including your stock stuff.

Anyone got particular items they are trying to grab this year? I'm eyeing a tool chest and/or ratcheting wrenches.

So I was bored yesterday watching paint dry... really. So I came back inside, tossed on channel 5 to see what NFC football game was on and there was Formula E. I'm not a hippy but I thought I'd see what this "new" racing is all about.
-Electric F1ish cars (they need two of them to complete the 31 lap race)
-Mandatory pit stop to change cars, minimum time is designated to "ensure no accidents"
-Fan "boost" for more power
-Drivers control their own regen/output in the car
-Michelin tires... they look like shaved street tires to me.
-Practice, Qualifying, and Racing... all in the same day
It started off with a lot of banging. Some people were messing with their regens while driving... you would have thought they worked that out during the practice/qualifying? The cars they are using are pretty fragile in general so any touching causes real issues.
I saw the fan boost being used and it didn't seem to help this driver that much, but then later on I saw it used and it was flying past people. I'm also not sure if the boost hurts your limited battery or do they just give you a little extra.
Overall it was pretty entertaining to watch once I got past the lap 2 caution. Its obvious the technology isn't there right now or one car would make the 31 laps... but they are doing 140+ on the straights so they are getting there.

Tarmac Apparel is a clothing comapny based out of Waynesboro VA, and one of the guys contacted me about coming to one of the next MM meetings and introducing his line of merchandise along with himself and the company. He also mentioned giving out some promotional stuff and some freebies.
Not sure what else he'd want to talk about but I figured, free stuff is free stuff lol
A lot of the "townies" and locals know about Tarmac and have decals on their car.

Taylor Acoustic Electric and Fender American Strat Guitars

Hey guys,
I’m looking to offload 2 awesome guitars. Both deals are cash only (unfortunately), due to the lack of TD Bank branches this far south. Not looking to trade for other guitars, but I would consider Nikon camera bodies or lenses in trade. All money will probably be recycled into my Jeep or my cameras, anyway.
The first is a Taylor 114ce acoustic/electric guitar. I’m the original owner (been about 3-4 years), it’s lived in nonsmoking households and has travelled very little. Guitar has 2 scratches - both from an incident where a dumb friend dropped his phone on them. One scratch by the base of the neck, another on the front of the guitar. Comes in the original soft case.
The second guitar is a Fender American Standard Stratocaster in Blizzard Pearl (rosewood fretboard). Original owner (about 5 years), nonsmoking household, traveled a little bit to go play with friends and all that, but in great shape. One very small mark by the lower strap button, but not visible from the front of the guitar. Comes with original electronics, chrome hardware, and white pickguard, so it's a blank slate for customization (although it’s great right out of the box). Comes with the original “bomb proof” case.
For the Taylor, I’m looking to get $600 OBO. Here is the CL listing in Harrisonburg: http://harrisonburg.craigslist.org/msg/4758082657.html
For the Strat, I’m looking to get $800 OBO. It’s currently at my parents’ house in New Jersey (in it’s case), but I can have it down here quickly.
Here are some pictures:

Oil consumption on E46, am I missing anything?

E46 325 with 160k, oil consumption has increased over the last year, now in the 1qt / 1000 mi ballpark which is for us about every 2 weeks.
No evidence of oil / coolant mixing
Never have seen smoke from exhaust
No evidence of leaks, or if it is leaking it's being 100% burned off
No oil in any of the coil pack / plug holes
Almost no evidence of seepage around valve cover, I wiped down what I could 2 weeks ago and it's still clean
Checked compression, all good and within 10 psi of each other
No codes or drivability issues, running great AFAIK
I CAN smell oil right after pulling in the garage
I've been reading about the CCV (or oil separator), which can lead to oil consumption when it fails. Makes some sense, but the two ghetto "tests" I can find (cause there's no mention of it in my Haynes or Bentley manuals) go something like this, and please comment on validity:
1) Check for excessive negative pressure at oil cap. If cap is hard to remove when running, or it gulps air, makes noise when you do, there's your sign. It's supposed to be a little negative, which mine is. When I remove cap, idle changes just a touch and recovers, which is what I call normal.
2) Check for positive pressure at dipstick hole by removing dipstick and capping it with a balloon. Mine was negative as it should be.
So, did I miss something simpler or does this thing need a head gasket, valve guides, or rings? Or more realistically, cheaper oil?

Question for the e30 folks

I'm considering an e30 project car at some point in the future and I'd like help to get a good start on my research. Ultimate goal would be a s50 or s52 swap and restore what needs to be restored.
I think I've mostly narrowed it down to what I like, but it would help to know the specifics. This particular car is a 1989 325is.
![[Image: 340853.jpg]](http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/cars/bmw/340853.jpg)
What I would like to know is are there any particular options or body kits that you can see on this car? I love the way it looks and I would want one that looks very similar to this. The problem is when I google 1989 325is, a lot of them don't look very similar to this one. Is it just that half of them have mismatched pieces from years of people messing with them, or does this one have a certain set of options to make it look like it does?
I'm mostly just talking about the body panels. I don't particularly care about the wheels.
