hey guys, wanted to post a picture from our soapbox derby race a few weeks ago. Notice the car is proudly displaying the MM logo on the side, underneath our other sponsors. We had a great day, finishing in 2nd place. Brandon lost first place by only 2/1000 of a second. We never lost a heat all day unitl the final double elimination shootout. While we were disapointed in not returnng to Akron for the Championships, we were pleased to be in the final because this was his first time in that style of car, and the car was new and had a few bugs to be worked out. We will be ready for next year and try again. You can see more pics at my photo page at the link below.
Thanks

There's a 240sx on craigslist for 1100. if anyone wants to check it and not from nova, i'll be going back there this weekend and can snap pics for you if you like. My GF's family lives in annandale as well, so it won't be any trouble.

Graduate Student Jeremy Wimpey Co-driver:
Quantum Rally Sport won (PGT) the third leg of the Rally America Championship series, the Susquehannock Trail Pro Rally (STPR), this past weekend in Wellsbororo, PA. Pittsburgh based driver, Eric Langbein and Harrisonburg, VA based co-driver Jeremy Wimpey competed in their 1988 Toyota Celica All-Trac on the blisteringly fast stages of Northern Pennsylvania.
During Fridays shakedown stage the QRS duo had an exciting moment when they slid off the road and down a steep embankment. Langbein later said, We were testing different tires in anticipation of slippy conditions on Saturday, and I was pushing too hard on a poor tire choice.we went wide in a fast right hander and rode the ditch out for a while, got airborne and slid off the outside of the next left turn. Wimpey added, We are really lucky that the damage to the car was not more severe!
The Quantum Rally Sport prepped Celica All-Trac, was repaired overnight and arrived at Parc Expose the next morning in Wellsboro with minimal cosmetic damage. Fifty-six teams started the rally on Saturday. Leaving Wellsboro, the teams faced the first 6.05 mile Special Stage that ends with a steep downhill into the famous ÔÇ£Subaru Splash,ÔÇØ ÔÇô a water crossing that can end oneÔÇÖs rally if not negotiated properly.
The morning leg of the rally was slow start for the QRS crew, as they adapted to the four extremely fast and narrow Special Stages. Average speeds on these stages were over 60 mph and trees lined the damp roads in the Tioga State Forest. A turbo hose failed at the end of Special Stage 2, and emergency repairs were made on the next transit to the start of Stages 3 and 4. Small penalties were assessed to the QRS team for being late due to the time used for repairs. Unfortunately the emergency repairs failed after only short period of time, and the team was forced to stop again on Special Stage 4 to repair the hose, losing about two and a half minutes in the process.
A brief service stop was made in the Town of Morris, where the Quantum Rally Sport service crew was able to replace the damaged hose, and send the All-Trac out for the evening leg of the rally. This evening leg consisted of six Special Stages and one service stop in Germania.
After the first three evening stages, the All-Trac entered the service area at Germania. ÔÇ£Eric really took to the stages this evening, the car is handling phenomenally and we are super relaxed and cooking on the stagesÔÇØ exclaimed Jeremy. Both driver and co-driver were elated to find that they had made up time on fellow competitors and were now just 40 seconds out of the PGT lead. Langbein and WimpeyÔÇÖs quick stage times earned the pair several new PGT stage records throughout the evening.
Langbein/Wimpey and their Celica All-Trac left service and headed out for the final three stages of the rally knowing that they needed to push hard to make up time on Penesack/Goldfarb, the first place PGT car, and to keep ahead of the charging PGT WRX of Tanner Foust and Co-Driver Scott Crouch (3rd Place PGT).
The 21.27 mile long Special Stage 8 went smoothly as the QRS Celica posted the quickest PGT time of twenty one minutes and forty-two seconds. Special Stage 9 was cancelled due to rowdy spectators, so Eric pushed extremely hard on Special Stage 10 the final 10.26 mile stage of the Susquehannock Trail Pro Rally, trying to make up time on PenesackÔÇÖs Subaru WRX. The duo posted a 9th quickest over all stage time on this stage.
STPR has run annually since 1977, QRSÔÇÖs Celica set four PGT stage records this past weekend all during the evening leg of the event. Langbein commented on the evening stages after the finish, ÔÇ£I was really looking forward to the night stages. Jeremy and I really work well together on stage and night stages force us to really focus.ÔÇØ

... as in, "the" GT, all 550whp of it!
It was SO smooth, and yeah, so unspeakably fast. A throttle roll in third gear from 30-110 went by in about 5 seconds. /yikes. A clutch dump in 2nd sent both rear 315's smoking. at 50 mph.
The thing that amazed me the most was that it was such a smooth ride! And yet, when you punched it, it didn't squat at all. And the brakes make your eyeballs pop out. Go engineering!
How? I'm at Watkins Glen right now, and a good friend of some of my XR buddies just bought it and brought it up for us all to play in. I took it out a twisty country road. Tomorrow I'll catch a ride at the Glen and feel it at it's best. And then I'll pass out.
The guy that ownes it is really cool (duh...). He's sending it away in two weeks to Rousch (sp?) to have an additional 150hp added to it. And he's gonna track it often. It's black with silver racing stripes, keep you eyes open if you're tracking in the north.
