I am now in the market for something reliable, cheap, and roomy...ish. I'm thinking under 5k.

So far...
any 90s gen civic hatch
found an 88 jetta GLI 16v for 2k

and I don't know what else to look for. Ideas?

I'll post the graphs when they get emailed to me hopefully later today. Honestly I wasn't expecting the greatest numbers, and the runs I did met my expectations. Best run was 199 awhp/196torque. That's around 250 hp at the crank =/ Also did an a/f analysis and after 5000 rpms I ran really rich. I'll post the graphs when I get them emailed to me hopefully later today.

Basically my car is running like a stock Legacy GT with slightly less torque.

I'm glad I did this as a baseline so I have something to compare to after I jump to stage 4 in a month or so, but I'm definitely not impressed with this off-the-shelf engine management. Apparently it runs better on some cars then others, so mine must not be happy with it. With a custom tune and the mods I have planned, I'm hoping to add 100 to both of those numbers

Again, graphs to follow when I get them.

I pull up for gas at like 11 at night last night, and and notice this guy pull up in the stall next to me.

So, I get to drool over a new black Viper SRT-10.

It looked a bit smaller in the cockpit than it's previous versions. but, it looked more agressive, and more like it belonged on track.

Goodbye accord, hello b00st...and other news

this past month has been the busiest month of my life. i've had to make the 7 (6.5 for me :twistedSmilehour trip down to atlanta over three times since graduation to either house hunt, job hunt, or interview, while living out of a suitcase at my almost-sister-in-law's house. getting my insurance for the car has been a PITA and i still have to find out about health and teef insurance depending on what my job will give me. argh!

anyway, looks like i'll be emulating my favorite polo pimp Aaron, and getting into car sales. as of right now i'm getting things figured out at Cary Paul Ford, a pretty sweet dealership right outside the perimeter of atlanta. they have a blue on white GT!!! shwing!!! anyway i'll do this job for a while to make a few bucks while i find a job i really want in industrial design.

after packing up a budget rental truck all day, and filling both my car and Jen's car with shit we don't need and stuff we should throw away, my dad signed the title to his A4 over to me. it was a very big day, not only because this is my first real "move", but because i love this car dearly and so does my dad. its been his baby and him letting me take it means alot to me, especially since i don't really deserve it in my mind. i have alot of sentiment built up in the car, seeing as how it was the car i learned to drive a manual tranny in....it certainly makes me smile to drive it. i'll be paying my dad back slowly over the years, although it won't be market value since it's sort of a gift in many ways. i have alot of plans for the car, but for the time being i just want to learn its many german quirks and enjoy it in the state it's in, since it's more than fast enough for me.

the accord's fate is unknown, although it will be sold soon. a guy at my dad's work is sweating it so he will most likely snatch it up. it was a terrific car for too many reasons to list. i will miss it for every reason except that it was a slow pig  just turned 42k too....they grow up so fast.

gotta be on the road at 7 tommorow, blah. at least now i can join in on everyone else's conversations about how much they hate traffic. hotlanta hoooooo!

Fuck mike's car. That greasy mess of a shitbox hatchpile.

Thats all I have to say.

So, you still have A/C on that 'Race Car'???

Well get up off your candy ass and get it off of there! Oh boohoo, VIR, Summit Point and Road Atlanta are to hot in the summer to ditch A/C. Please, enter the 'Cool Shirt'.

Ever since the engine swap (http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?itemid=116), I've not had A/C. I did an A/C delete and recently when working on my oil cooler and power steering cooler I removed every last bit of the A/C unit, so it's not going back in. Last weekend I lost about 15lbs in sweat (i needed to loose it probably) on my way back home from my dad's place, we took 501 to 81 (which BTW is a freeking blast to drive as long as you don't get stuck behind some old dike in a beat ass jeep). So as soon as I got to work Monday AM I ordered the Cool Shirt from Apex Performance, it was at my door Wed Night.

Install is pretty easy. Just needs 12v power, supply your own switch and you need to mount it. They provided a mounting plate for a fee, I was on a time crunch so I bit it and just bought it, I'm sure something similar can be fabbed for less than $10. It also came with straps, which is nice. I hooked it up tonight in the garage, it's NICEEEE, I can't wait to try it out this weekend!

Motor let go in the GS-T

Number 4 piston kissed number 4 spark plug.

Had done one WOT pull 5 minutes before this happened. Was cruising when I heard some noise...shut it off and pulled over. This was the first plug we pulled and told me exactly why the car wouldn't start and why the motor would not turn by hand.

So I guess it is rebuild time. I have no money...so I'll either get a new job close to where I live so I can walk there and save...or tomorrow I'm a run by the financing options with my parents and how generous they are feeling.

I know a lot of you guys have had an engine let go or become damaged in some other catastrophic way....you can laugh a few times at me now.

*edit: I really need to get this picture of the plug hosted elsewhere.

The original theory is that the rod and crank are not friends anymore...but it is more likely that the massive visible damage to the top of the piston and to the plug were cause by big time detonation. Funny it let go while I was cruising.
