Dont ask why Wink

  95 GSR
Posted by: damnit458 - 06-14-2005, 03:43 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (30)

Im asking this for a friend of mine. Hes looking into a 95 gsr sedan. Car has 145k miles on it, just got new belts/rotors. Everything runs fine, needs no work. Outside of the car also looks good, nothing not normal for a 10 yr old car. The guy is asking $4k, but my friend says he thinks he can get him down to somewhere between 3.5-4k. Is this a good deal for the given price range?

If it matters, my friend wont be tracking this or anything like that. This would just be a DD/something he could work on visually (the ricer that he is), and with a little pull.

  Buy this or that?
Posted by: JackoliciousLegs - 06-14-2005, 01:20 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (29)

The bad:
Civic has clearcoat starting to peel at top.
Integra has scratches on rear bumper.
No A/C in civic.

The good:
Both cars are 5 speeds.
Civic comes with canondale bike and rack.
Civic gets 40+mpg
Both cars have maintenance records.

Moto GP Catalunya (The Rossi Show continues)
Posted by: JohnC - 06-13-2005, 04:37 PM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (5)

This was only the second race I've been able to watch all season, and it was quite entertaining. Rossi did his usual "sit back and stalk the leader, then pass for the win and make it look easy". More interesting was the battle for 3rd - Nicky Hayden actually looked competitive, and didn't dump the bike despite running his tires down to the rims. And, did we ever find out exactly what happened to Tamada? They never showed the cause of his crash during the race coverage - they just said, "well, his tires gave up and he low-sided" - but I never saw the actual event, just the shot of him already on the asphalt sliding into the gravel trap...

Gerald - I'm gonna make it to a MotoGP race. Not this year, but eventually.

  Anyone ever had Chiang?
Posted by: HAULN-SS - 06-13-2005, 03:59 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (5)

Professor Chiang, the math professor. I am in his Math 318 stats course right now, and I feel like I'm about to get a D in his class, but so does everyone else. Does he curve? I seem to consistently get 60 - 70% on his tests and quizzes

  Want anything from Germany?
Posted by: Feersty - 06-12-2005, 07:57 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (45)

I was just wondering if there is anything anyone needs that I can look out for and possibly purchase while I am in Germany. I leave 15 June(Wednesday) and don't return until 19 July.

  big things

I'm at the Apple store, and for anyone with 3000 dollars, there is a 30 inch HD display monitor for that amount. This thing is huge. Like bigger than Xbox huge, or, bigger than the collective ego of MM.

So, for a discussion, is there any time in which it just becomes too big?

Discuss.

  Pistons...tell me about them
Posted by: Jeff - 06-12-2005, 09:43 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (14)

It its coming on the time that Jeff drops $500 more dollars on his $300 car. I needs to get me some pistons to get this thing on the road. So, I ask you, who makes the best pistons for a 275-300hp app that will be dealing with high heat for longer periods of time? No, "Honda" is not a good answer here.

Options-
J&E-
[Image: engine_buildup1_r9_c2.jpg]
Pros-
Forged
Can buy them in singles Smile
"Highest Quality"
Used in n-ass-car
Cons-
Bling Bling $500 just for pistons...no rings or pins
Require rework of rods

Venolia-
[Image: venolia_T.jpg]
Pros-
Forged
Can buy them in singles
Comes with rings and pins
Cons-
Supposidly have strange expansion rates that lead to knock
Require rework of rods

Mahle-
[Image: mahle%202.2-2.5%20pistons.jpg]
Pros-
Cheap $128 a set
OEM part
Uses stock rod bushings
Cons-
Cast
Cheap
only a little messup on the A/F ration = meltdown

I'm thinking forged is needed, and the middle of the road might be the best option. Let me know what experience has shown you guys. Can I get buy with the cheapies or should I go all the way to the top?
