Lexus to debut GS450h at Frankfurt

Quote: Based on the new GS sedan, the GS450h will feature a 3.5-liter V6 coupled with ToyotaÔÇÖs Synergy Drive system. The story on performance is the GS hybrid will produced over 300 hp and can accelerate to 60 in less than 6 seconds.

  Little update on the GS-T

I really don't remember how long the car has been down, but it is about time I fixed her.

7 bolt block that my boy Rob and I pulled out of a 95 GSX like over a year ago was taken to Fairfax Auto in Merrifield where the head guy there Bob tore it down to make sure it wasn't too fucked up.

Going full on stockish rebuild. Block is being hot tanked, honed, milled and the crank polished then being reassembled by the big man Bob himself with the following parts...

Decade old 2g pistons
Decade old 2g rods
Brand new clevite 77 rod and main bearings
Seal power rings
Felpro gasket and seals for everything
slowboy racing's balance shaft elimation kit
Melling oil pump/front cover

Reusing my super sweet kevlar timing belt
and my 7 month old oem water pump

Topping off this monster short block is a 98 head pulled off my boy's car like 8 months ago. It's being cleaned up and having the valve stem seals replaced because it would suck if they leaked and everything else was fucking perfect.

Reusing my competition camshafts and arp head studs; sealing it off with a Cometic headgasket.

So yeah...I won half the money I needed this week in online poker ($800) which is nice cause I havn't really been working very much...it's a bitch to get to my job without a car.

I'm hoping to take lots of pictures...of the fucked up old motor and the dropping in of the rebuilt older one.

My only concern is that metal bits might have gone through the center section of the turbo...basically destroying it.

That'd suck.

and we are gathered here today to bid farewell to my faithfull Explorer, while she was good to me for many a year, the great overseers have decided that my time with her is over and she will happily live the rest of her years under my younger brother (which better be alot longer than my mom's passat lasted with him).

So anywho my new ride is a 2000 civic lx sedan (don't worry its beige) so it has just over 69K on it and i konw that means its timing belt season, and i have a feeling their may be some brake issues that i would like to work out. It is soo nice to be rid of the explorer and the 15MPG that came with it. I'm slowly getting used to driving stick all the time. If anyone would like to give me a hand witht the timing belt and diagnoising the brakes it would be much appreciated (otherwise im paying to have it done)

  New laptop

Well, I bought a new laptop today. An Acer Aspire 5002WLMi.

Picked it up for about 1000 bucks after rebate, with an enormous no-interest-financing deal.

AMD Turion 64 1.6GHz, 1GB DDR, 100GB hard drive, a 15 inch widescreen display and a DVD burner. Sadly, there is no firewire port, but as I don't have a camcorder with FW anyway, and that's practically the only thing you use a FW port for, it's no big loss.

This screen is ginormous. Positively huge. It's got alot of lights and buttons whose functions aren't immediately apparent, but the touchpad has a nice directional scrolling button I like very much.

Its on my list....

What is the best year to get, engine changes? From 1990-2004 what is the best year if the car is going to be a combination track car/daily driver? To be trackable do you need a roll cage? Hardtop? Thanks for the info I really like these cars and would like to get some tracktime!

Is the Mazdaspeed Miata worth it? What are the horsepower gains?

Looking on Cars.com they range from $5,500 for a 1990 to $20,777 for a 2004. That is a huge ass range!

For those who might wanna do Laguna 2006...

Tickets go on sale September 1. I'm not worried about getting my general admission pass but I am sure as hell gonna buy some paddock passes early. I might not need them because I may get a press pass into the event like I did last weekend but in that case I'll probably be able to make buck (or $300) on ebay...

So yeah if you want paddock passes buy em quick.

Btw, how many of you want to come? I was thinking we should rent a RV ($125 a day) and camp out at Laguna rather than go through the song and dance (read: clusterfuck) of traffic and hotel.
