S.O.N is coming up. Its monday sept 5th from 5pm-8pm in the Convocation center. I'm really glad they moved it because it was always really crowded in Festival. We should have a lot more room this year. Hope some of you guys can make it out and help us greet some new members.

Anyone wanna take a wack at helping me tune my car....Im using MegaSquirt. Most tuning can be done with a knowledge of VE tables. Any help would be appreciated.

Whenever he'd open his mouth, you knew something hilarious was about to be uttered. I was in many of his classes, but the one I remember most was Desktop Publishing. Andrew sat across from me. Our paths would cross again after high school. Andrew lived on the street next to mine. I eventually ran into him and we kept in touch via IM. I'd sometimes go over and play video games, talk about motorcycles and computers, or whatever else came up. He was a good friend.

Here are the details of his death from the local newspaper:
A Reston man was killed Sunday evening after his motorcycle crashed into a car that pulled out in front of him on Lawyers road, Fairfax County Police said yesterday. Andrew Olimpiew, 21, of the 11200 block of Leatherwood drive was the driver of a Yamaha M4 motorcycle, police said. He was heading west on Lawyers road about 6:30 p.m when a 1996 Saturn sedan pulled out from Pinoak lane, trying to turn east on Lawyers. Investigators believe that Olimpiew was traveling at high speed and that the turning Saturn blocked his westbound lane for an undetermined amount of time, Officer Richard Henry said. Olimpiew's bike skidded, then overturned and slammed into the saturn. which was being driven by a 16-year-old reston girl. Olimpiew died later at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Police are considering whether to seek charges against the teenager, whose name was not released.

Figured that since I dipped my foot in the Honda pool by getting the S2000, I might as well dive in and go to the 1/4 mile track.

Details:
Stock car, 245 Toyo T1R's out back. Full tank of gas, and a 120lb ladyfriend riding shottie.

It was my first time ever to the strip, and ever launching this thing hard. I'm disappointed with my times, but I don't know much about dragging. Would ditching the girlfriend and running a low tank of gas (dropping maybe 200lbs total?) make a difference?

3rd (and final) run was the best time. Sidestepped the clutch at 8k ( hock: ), but the car bogged down to 4k after a second...where these things have no power. I have a feeling that if I launched it right (I honestly have no idea if I floored it after I dropped the clutch) and kept it above 6k, I would have much better times.

I've seen a timeslip of a stock car once at 13.66, but I don't expect to get anywhere near that. I was expecting low 14's, hoping for high 13's. So yeah, what can I blame my poor times on? Passenger/gas? Poor driving?

For reference, there was a no passenger AP2 running 14.11 at 97mph.

Just rode it home from DC earlier today

I think i'll be riding it once i get the registration and gear squared away, but mostly just on the weekends. Playing it safe till i build up some confidence on her.

Who's up for doing this? The closest TR is a little less than an hour away from NoVa in Bowie. I figure we should go a bit later, say around 7 to avoid the traffic.

Day 1:

Welp, for this event I got das press credentials since I'll be posting an interview with American Honda's Al Luddington, head of Honda's Superbike and Formula Xtreme programs. My interview should be appearing on VTEC.NET in the near term future.

So I got in at about 7:30 this morning, ran into Yack (for those of you who know him). He hit a tire wall with his EP3 Si a few weeks earlier and it looks like someone vandalized the side of his car with tire rubber. One of the Kawasaki truck drivers was driving by and yelled out, "Rubbin's racing!"

Anyway, the Media pass got me parking in the paddock, access to the press room and access to the hot pits. Through VTEC.NET I got put in touch with a Honda Motorsports PR person so I caught up with her in the morning.

Man I have to say that it was one of the most awesome conversations I've ever had with anyone at the track. Her name was Stacy Jones and she was the media coordinator for Honda's pro motorcycle racing in the US. She goes to the Baja 1000, Moto GP, Supercross, Motocross, Supermoto, and of course Superbike.

She had a kind of funny story about how Max Biaggi was being a big bitch during the autograph signing session (at Laguna Seca) because they got stuck in traffic at the track. Why'd the get stuck in traffic at the track? Well, the riders were told to meet at 5:00pm in the paddock to get in a van to go to the signing session but they were all late because they wanted to watch the Superbike race. And of course when the Superbike racing was done the stampede was on to get out of the track.

Anyway the Superbike race was awesome today, I won't spoil it for anybody but make sure you catch it on Speed Channel tomorrow starting at 4 pm. It'll be the Superbike Race 1, Superbike Race 2, then the Moto GP race.

We all live in close quarters and we all must respect each other. (We all feel sorry that you did not get the attention you needed as a child it is not our place to give it to you as an adult.)
We have sent a letter to the Harrisonburg Police Department so that they will start monitoring the streets of Avalon Woods. If the problem continues we are also going to start calling in noise complaints. Sorry for the inconvenience however enough is enough.
