I think I'm going to head down to VIR this Spring to do a track day. Anyone have any experience with any of the track schools and programs there? I figure I might as well get the experience since we're not too far away.

I can't imagine how it's making 650hp with it being limited to 43lbs of boost and all. lol... 810lb/ft of torque!!!

Quote:Something else unfamiliar to the drivers will be the low noise level and, unique for a racing engine, the smooth running of the engine. At high speeds the 650 hp engine can not be heard from the Audi R10 prototype's "open" cockpit while there is hardly any vibration.

So it looks like the Supreme Court denied Stanley William's appeal for clemency. How do you all feel about this particular case?

I've never been one really to advocate the death penalty, being a Quaker and all. The guy started one of the worst gangs in history and caused a lot of death and misery, but on the other hand he's rehabilitated to the point where he's actually HELPING people that he used to harm. I feel like it's kind of counter-productive at this point to kill the guy. Of course, I'm not in the family of one of his victims so I'm not that biased.

It's not like this guy is still the scum of the earth that has no remorse about what he's done. He writes children's books that encourage kids to stay out of gangs for f's sake!

I for one think he deserved clemency. Schwartzenegger obviously wouldn't give it to him for political reasons, and the Supreme Court probably didn't for the same reasons. To truly reform a guy through the prison system to the point where he's going above and beyond what most members of our society do for others kind of seems like a rarity.

Finally Got a Garage Door Opener
Posted by: white_2kgt - 12-12-2005, 08:14 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (12)

We had to install a Ceiling fan first b/c the Propane heater was heating the rafters to about 20* greater than the floor.

bLiNg, it's on a remote control so I don't have to climb the lift to change the speeds

Onto the opener, challenge was 20' ceiling,
[Image: Img_9067.jpg]

No problem when you have a big ass ladder and someone who doesn't mind climbing it (thanks Pete!)

In short it works, and it works great. Don't have any pictures of it b/c the garage is full of cars right now and not all mine.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

I didnt think I'd be looking to unload this so soon, but.... I think I found a truck. Looking to get $7500.

Details:

99 Miata
Sport Package
94k miles
5-speed

Options:
Leather
LSD
Sport Steering Wheel

Mods:
Racing Beat Exhaust
Bilstein Shocks
Ground Control Coil-Overs (i think rates are around 350/300)
Hard Dog Rollbar
PIAA Foglamps
Shift Knob
Pioneer CD Player
ACT Clutch
Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires on stock wheels - 80% tread left

Recent Maintenance:

Plugs
Wires
Valve Cover Gasket
Fuel Filter
Front brakes (Axxis Ultimate Pads and rotors)
Rear brakes (OEM Pads only)
Brake Fluid
Previous owner had replaced the timing belt/water pump, as well as the alternator and master cylinder.

I will be replacing the primary O2 sensor in the next week or so, since it has gone bad and I'll also detail the car, weather permitting. The only other thing that I know that is wrong, is that the swaybar endlinks are starting to get a little worn out, but they arent that bad and I wouldnt worry about them yet. This car runs great, starts every time and has never caused me any headache - I'll be sad to see it go, but I need something to haul the racecar with Smile

I know i'm shooting high...but I'm in no hurry at all to sell it(if ever). It is'nt a bad truck at all, I just hate that it's so slow..great 4WD though. I'd probably trade it for an older-ish AWD car if the right one came along.
