  Squealing from the car engine.
Posted by: Andy - 01-16-2006, 01:28 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (10)

There's a terrible and random squeal from the engine which initially only occured on startup. I obviously thought it was the belts which were old and cracked, so I replaced them along with the tensioner pulley.
Now, it does not squeal as often but it will still do it occasionally.Except now it happens even more randomly. Whether I'm in gear, not in gear, low revs, high revs, it squeals for ~15 seconds, then dissapears. Got any ideas? Also, it doesn't sound like the normal chirping that a crapped out throw out bearing would make.

  SOLD: Motul RBF 600
Posted by: Dave - 01-15-2006, 11:07 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (3)

Motul Racing Brake Fluid 600. 100% synthetic DOT4 brake fluid with 585 degree boiling point. I believe RJ used this for a while and said it was good stuff. I have THREE 500ml bottles, all never been opened and still have seal on them. This usually retails and ~$10 per bottle, but I want to use superblue in my car and this came with the car. If somebody will give me 2 bottles of super blue, they can have all three bottles of this stuff. Otherwise, I'd like to sell it at $8/bottle. Hopefully somebody here can use it.

  Call for Rally Workers
Posted by: Jvimpty - 01-15-2006, 05:26 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (7)

Hey again,

I came and gave a presentation last semester to some of you all, and wanted to follow up on that meeting. (this semester I will bring the video camera so we can watch some in-car footage) :!:

There are several Rally Events that are releatively close to JMU (5-6 hours) these are:

Arrow STPR in June, Pennsylvania (Rally America Event)

Arrow Sandblast Rally in February South Carolina, NASA event

Arrow Rally West Viriginia, around Elkins Area June, NASA Event

Arrow Cherokee Trail Int'l Rally, End of March? near Chattanooga/Clevleand TN

All four of these are events that I am planning on attending either competing at. We are always looking for "volunteer" workers to attend these events adn help them run smoothly.

Workers typically get the best spectating spots on stages, ussually at intersections, tricky spots, starts and finishes....etc.
Workers always get free stuff (t-shirts, lunches, etc....)and the best seat in the house to see the action....

I will be travelling to Sno*Drift on January 25th...after that I will be working at Sandblast Rally in SC Februaruy 24th-25th...I know that they could use additional worker/volunteers this year as they have added stages to the rally.

I am will be giving a short presentation with more details at the first meeting of this semester that I can get to......I would like to see if there is much interest in learing more details about how a rally runs, what workers do at events...and see who would be interested in travelling to some of these events to work/spectate.

email me if you have interest, and I hope to see you all at your first meeting.

Jeremy
