Ok, so I'm traveling down 460 east just past south gate. I'm in the left lane. I'm behind a red pickup truck. Its an old F150, im not tailgating, but its a big truck and I can't see around it. In the right lane there are some flares and in the shoulder there is a car that has hit the guardrail and another car that pulled over to help them. Apparently cars up ahead slowed down to a near stop for this. The red pickup in front of me didnt notice or couldnt see it, I dunno. He nails his brakes and gets sideways and impacts a white pickup truck ahead of him. He is now sidways with his front end in the left land and rear in the left. I had already started to brake as soon as I saw him brake, but he impacted the white pickup truck maybe a second at the most after he was on the brakes. I started to try to steer around him as well, but him going from traveling speed to zero in the middle of 460 didnt really give me much time to do anything. I hit his rear bumper, which impacts my hood. My sunglasses go flying off my face. Fortunatly I was buckled up, I don't have a mark on me. His rear bumper was a little bent from my impact, and his front was destroyed from impacting the white pickup. My hood is buckled, right fender damaged, lights all destroyed, radiator and condensor bent back and broken open, radiator support bent, grill destroyed, and front bumper is scuffed up. I could theoretically drive it for a few minutes until it overheats.

Both myself and the driver of the red pickup got a ticket for followign to close. Its complete BS because I was in no way following to close. I must have slowed down a decent amount before impact because the damage to his truck isnt very bad. He also said there was a few second delay before I hit him, so I had to have time to slow down a little bit. I will be fighting the ticket, but unfortunatly I think im SOL as far as getting any insurance money from the driver of the red truck.

Hyperfest is in July. With that target date in mind, I'd like to have everyone interested to have a list of stuff they want so we can make an order the first week of April. Can we do that? This would give rollbar guys another two months settle that issue.

The other issue are rollbars. Autopowers are fairly inexpensive but the 140 freight shipping from the west coast will really offset any savings as compared to having a local shop fab your roll bar. Having said that, who would be interested in having Piper fab your rollbar. If we can get 4 guys to do it, maybe Piper will cut us a little discount. Granted they're busy as shit, 4 rollbars is almost 3k's worth of work.

So I need a wideband. Thats the one thing I forgot I needed to get. I would like a PLX300 but I think $299 is a bit much to pay for a non-data-logging piece. If someone has a lead on a used one or something like it for a fair price please let me know. I always like getting used stuff.

So as i am coming back from mcdonalds on tueday afternoon....going up on port road..i felt like someone shot me on the helmet....i stopped on the side to see whats goin on coz there was some stuff on my helmet sheild...the lady beihind me runs up to me and asks me to lay don and asked what happened...she tols mre my helmet is covered with blood...so after a few mins i felt like i was fine decided to takke my helmet off and ppl around me coudln't see nysource of the blood on my helmet...Well i get up walk around and see i got hit by a bird thats laying dead on the side of the road...what r the chances of that..lol

This brings tears to my heart (and please no wise cracks, this is pissing me off as I have invested a lot of time and energy into this project), but my friend wants a new car instead of 2 busted cars, so....

This car would make a good track whore or a *cough* GRM CAR *cough* . I would be willing to fix the stalling issue and install a new axle at cost to any new owner as well. I enjoy working on these cars, and if you ever needed any help with it you know where to turn. Yes, the car was bought for $150, but it does have at least 800 in other parts invested into it at this point. He is trying to recoup what he has into it.

Good:
-Very little rust on and under the car for it's age and make. There is a little under the doors and lip of the trunk - just a little surface BS, and nothing visible on the exterior.
-Newer paint. The car actually looks really nice on the outside.
-Clean 93k actual mile title (although the car has 193k)
-Engine runs smooth and does not smoke, knock, etc.
-Transmission is smooth and does not grind gears. Also has drain plug installed.
-New wiper blades
-ALL fluids changed in past 100 miles (Antifreeze, Brake, Transmission, Power Steering)
-Brand new radiator
-4 good Firestone tires with plenty of tread left
-New passenger side axle and CV joints
-New passenger side outer tie rod end (inners on both sides are newer)
-1 year old Diehard Battery
-Car tracks straight - it has a clean Carfax and doesn't appear to ever have been in an accident.
-No oil in plugwells, newer Motorcraft plug wires and Motorcraft Double Platinum Plugs (the old ones that are hard to find and expensive as hell, not the FM ones.)
-Car comes with spare thermostat and fuel pump, both new in box.
-New front accessory belt



Now for the bad:
-The car failed MD inspection for:
*tint
*a missing exhaust clamp (I don't see one missing and call BS on the inspector, and the pipes/mufflers are not rusted and will pass inspection.)
*bad CV joints on both sides (replaced passenger, part we ordered for drivers side was wrong and I don't have time to replace now.) Drivers side WILL need to be replaced in the near future as it is clacking and the boot is torn.
*outer tie rod ends (same as CV Joint, another wrong part - passengers side is now new but drivers side is older - there did not seem to be any play in either and I think the inspector was once again trying to make a buck - I would personally leave the driver's side as-is.)
*Leaking PS (I don't see a leak ANYWHERE, although we did add a thing of Lucas stop-leak to the system just in case.) The fluid level has not changed at all and I don't see any leaks on the rack or ends or rack. Steering tracks straight, does not wander or moan.
*Taillight bulb (replaced)

So in other words, install a new CV joint / remove the tint and it should pass inspection.

-Car has 1 dented basketweeve rim (the car comes with 4 basketweeve rims - it does not come with the 2 slicers pictured) - this will run you $25-$50 at any junkyard.
-Some superficial rust as noted above
-Car likes to stall out while making slower left hand turns with the clutch in. This is why the car needs to go, because my friend doesnt want to troubleshoot this anymore. It is a problem with the fusible links under the hood or the power steering pressure switch. His loss of patience is your gain.
-Interior looks like crap (seatcovers and a good cleaning) and it needs a stereo (I can throw one in for free).
-Interior lights are on a separate switch than the headlights but they do function.
-Clutch TOB is making noise - the clutch still grabs fine although the clutch / pressure plate / TOB will need to be replaced in the recent future.
-Car is in need of a lower 60k service
-No AC (heat functions fine) - the AC compressor has been bypassed and all lines have been removed.

I have tried to be upfront as possible about this car. The dented rim will hold air and the car is drivable for longer distances so far as you don't make left hand turns with the clutch pressed in (easier said than done, although the car always starts right back up after it dies.) Highway driving is not a problem. I hope that someone can give this car the loving home that it deserves.
