to whomever I talked to at VIR about this, you have dibs, just get in contact with me...

I have an unopened, brand new Chatterbox in-car communication headset. This is the type that has 2 loose earbuds and a loose microphone, all of which are easily attached to the inside of your helmet with velcro. I put this into my helmet in a semi-permanent fashion and I can hear extremely well, and I don't even know they are there when it isn't hooked up. This would be great for somebody looking to set up an in-car communication system for HPDEs and such. You will still need the actual Chatterbox, but this would i a good start, and could be useful if your instructor has this setup already.

Porsche's new 2007 911 GT3 will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on February 28, 2006.
The latest race- bred 911 sports coupe features a 415-horsepower naturally aspirated engine with an 8,400 rpm redline, an active suspension setup tuned for the track, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

So uh, people with real jobs...chime in.
Posted by: HAULN-SS - 02-25-2006, 12:35 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (16)

So, I'm going throuhg the riggors of trying to find a real job lately, since I'll graduate in December. I interviewed with Northrop Grumman on Thursday, and I heard back from them via email and they want me to come to a second interview at their headquarters in Chantilly. Since I'm new at this sort of thing..just wondering what you think happens at a second interview? Is it a "if you dont say anything stupid, you get the job?" Is there potential to talk about compensation/benefits/vacation..blah blah blah all that stuff? Help me out here, I have no idea what to expect, seeing as how this was the first place I applied anyway

MMovie Review: The World's Fastest Indian
Posted by: G.Irish - 02-24-2006, 10:08 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (8)

I went to see The World's Fastest Indian last Wednesday and I came away thoroughly impressed. For the third time in just a few years a new racing movie has joined the list of the elite racing classics (Faster and Dust 2 Glory being the other two).

The story follows New Zealander Burt Monro as he tries to achieve his dream of breaking a world record at the Bonneville Salt Flats during Speed Week with his 1920's Indian Scout (Indian is an American motorcycle brand that died out some time ago, was resurrected a few years ago, but went bankrupt again). The film does an excellent job of capturing the eccentricity of ole' Burt as well as the burning passion he has for achieving his goal.

His trip to Bonneville is full of funny and quirky side stories and he makes a likable hero. Its actually pretty funny in an off beat kind of way. One of my favorite scenes is when he goes to tech inspection with his ghetto fab bike.

The World's Fastest Indian is based on a true story but has a lot more character than a pure documentary. Some of the motorcycle shots are pretty darned good but this is more about the man than the machine. It touches the essence of why we go to such great lengths to achieve speed.

If you have the chance to see it before its out of theaters (next Tuesday for NOVA folks) definitely get out and give it a go.

4.5 stars out of 5 from me

  2006 World Superbike by G
Posted by: G.Irish - 02-24-2006, 03:28 AM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (6)

This is where the action is at boys. I predict that World Superbike will be hands down, the best racing on TV. Although Troy Corser won the championship handily last season, there were a lot of tenacious knife fights fought at the front of the pack. WSBK last season saw 7 different race winners (Corser, Kagayama,Vermeulen, Haga, Lanzi, Toseland, Laconi)and this season should follow the trend.

The big story this year is that there are a lot of new faces either entering the series for the first time or returning to the series after a hiatus.

Without further adieu, here are the entries for 2005.
