I was listening to Elliott in the Morning on the radio today and they were talking about this police impersonator in the MD area. Apparently he has posted in some online forums bragging how he pulls into the fast lane and cuts off motorcyclists when they pass in the left lane going "too fast." He has mentioned a couple riders have crashed due to his view of taking the law into his own hands.

Apparently he owns a police car supply business, and he drives a blue crown vic with lights in the grill and on the roof. basically a look-a-like cop car. I'm just putting this out there to look out for you guys. Look in some of the DC sport bike forums and see if you can find more info!

  FREE car detailing worth over $200!!
Posted by: ultimagtrlover - 02-27-2006, 11:14 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (10)

Well, the car show is getting close, even though it is over a month away. Nevetheless, I would like to dedicate this thread to anyone who would like to have any of the services that I offer in the automotive detailing industry. Those services include:
-hand-wash of vehicle
-waxing of vehicle
-minor scratch-removal (via paint polishing)
-application of an acrylic sealant (makes the paint really, really smooth)
-interior cleaning
-leather surface cleaning and conditioning
-tire dressing
-chrome polishing
-window cleaning
-application of water repellant on windows
-clay-bar of paint surface
I probably missed some things, but, please feel free to ask any questions for me if needed. Prices will range anywhere from $25 dollars for a simple car wash (which includes window cleaning and dressing of all plastic components of a vehicle), to an "All-Out Detail" that would include a wash, clay-bar of paint surface, polish, application of an acrylic sealant, wax, interior cleaning, window cleaning, etc... This will cost roughly $200, simply because of the time it takes me to do a car (probably 2 days). I will try my best to price my services reasonably, meaning almost nobody who is with MM will have to pay $200 for a full detail.

SALE!!!! Want to get a full automotive detail for yourself by me? Well, if you convince 4 people to purchase a full detail (family, friends, etc...) from me, I will give your car a FULL DETAIL myself (a roughly $200 value). Lastly, I will try to get a proper price sheet online when I get back to NY.

  For those with Satellite Radio
Posted by: lyltoy - 02-27-2006, 09:52 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (22)

I just got this email from XM, informing of this BS bill. Just wanted to let you guys with satellite radio know what is going on. So get in touch with your senator once again!!!!

The Virginia Senate will be voting this week on a bill (HB 568) that would create a new tax on satellite radio. Please call or email your state Senator to say that you oppose this new tax. You can find out the name and contact number of your Senator at the following website:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://conview.state.va.us/whosmy.nsf/main?openform">http://conview.state.va.us/whosmy.nsf/main?openform</a><!-- m -->.

HB 568 is intended to tax companies that provide similar services, like telephone companies, cable companies, and satellite television (DBS) providers, in a similar manner.

But the bill creates NEW TAXES on satellite radio, even though satellite radio does not compete with telephone, cable, or DBS.

The bill specifically exempts traditional radio, Internet radio, and music downloads from the new tax WHILE IMPOSING A NEW TAX ON SATELLITE RADIO SERVICES LIKE XM.

Please tell your Senator that you OPPOSE this new satellite radio tax, and ask him or her to vote ÔÇ£NOÔÇØ on HB 568 as currently drafted. Tell your Senator that satellite radio should be EXEMPT from this tax, just like traditional radio and Internet radio.

You can find more information about the bill at: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?ses=061&typ=bil&val=hb568&Submit=Go">http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504 ... &Submit=Go</a><!-- m -->.

  FS: Teknic Yellow/Black leather jacket
Posted by: Sijray21 - 02-27-2006, 04:04 PM - Forum: Motorcycles - No Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm planning on buying another bike that isn't black or yellow so i wanted to sell this jacket. It's a great jacket; warm, snug, and protective. Mesh slots available for back protector and additional armour. Liner included.

[Image: 720-2078.jpg]

i got the picture from this site:

http://www.onlineparts.com/TEK....html

Size = US 44

price: $85 shipped or $75 pick-up obo

The jacket is *Mint*. It comes with a detachable liner inside that provides warmth in the colder months and can come out during the warmer months. I bought this in August of last year and this has no marks or wear.

No pictures yet. It's gray and missing a hubcap. Paint is going on the hood, and rear bumper. Minor dings from being so old. Big scratches onthe front valence from where I hit stuff.

Issue 1:
Blown rear shocks (comes with monroe replacements in box). I suppose I could change em out for you if you didn't want to do it yourself.

Issue 2:
Roughly 160k miles but it reads less because the speedo/odometer have been going skitzo on me. Has counted up only half of the last two thousand miles. I've been told this is a common thing with the gearing behind the gauge but I don't know....I simply thought it was a loose speedo cable.

Issue 3:
Interior is in good condition but it is the crappy rug kind.

Car runs strong. Water pump, radiator, fuel injectors, clutch/flywheel have all been replaced in the past year.
Comes with a spare ECU (former owner bought it with intention of replacing the current one. He says the fuel pump was cutting out on him sometimes at 95 mph...I never drive it that fast so I don't know).

Tires have plenty of tread.

$700 to any MMer.

Must go by mid March.

  Race seat install
Posted by: Andy - 02-27-2006, 08:32 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (35)

I've been researching seats and the crap needed to bolt them to one's car. If I buy a Sparco, do I need to buy the seat base, side mount bracket, slider and all that other stuff. For the guys who've installed aftermarket seats, what other stuff did you have to buy in order to secure the seats into place. Also, I'd like to retain the slide function as I'll still be using my MR2 as a DD.
