... having a lighter battery would mean a lot.

anyone heard of this? Firefly Energy is a company spunoff by Caterpillar when they decided they needed better batteries and no one else seemed like they were going to make one. My environmentally friendly coworker was just telling me about them. Here's all I can find on it though:

Firefly Energy has received a U.S. patent for a new lead acid battery technology that it believes has the potential to revolutionize the existing $16 billion worldwide lead acid battery market as well as serve applications like hybrid electric vehicles which historically aren't suitable for lead acid batteries.

~snip~ The invention is a battery comprised of an electrical current collector constructed of carbon or lightweight graphite foam. This foam exhibits a sizeable increase in surface area for chemical reactions to take place and eliminates the need for heavy lead plates found in traditional batteries. The graphite material resists corrosion and sulfation build-up, thus contributing to longer battery life and is lighter in weight than today's lead acid batteries.

The overwhelming restriction to lead acid battery efficiency to this point has been the lack of interface area between the active chemistry and the electrodes. Today, the chemistry is capable of delivering approximately 170 Watt Hours per Kilogram (Whr/kg), yet lead acid batteries only average around 30 Whr/kg. Up to now, achieving a higher surface area within a given lead-acid battery box required the addition of more and thinner lead electrodes. However, lead electrodes corrode, so increasing surface area by putting thinner lead electrodes in the battery increases corrosion and decreases battery life.

"By removing the corrosive heavy lead grids and replacing them with a graphite foam, Kurt Kelley's invention has helped unleash the innate power of lead acid chemistry," adds Williams. So I am looking for a Wideband 02 device seeing as I am going to be using a more manual ÔÇÿtuningÔÇÖ method on the Daytona then I would like. I am going to build a dual stage manual boost controller (or that is the plan now) and using my AFPR for fuel pressure control. A modified OEM ECU will be controlling injector pulse and timing. I was just wondering if anyone in MM has seen a MBC and Wideband in one unit? If so who makes it and where can I find it? That is the only way that I would buy a MBC seeing as they are so easy to make. If not, who makes the best (for the money, cheap) Wideband? I have been looking at the PLX M-300 but I donÔÇÖt want to drop $300.

I'm about to go on a road trip and was wondering about what sort of power inverter to get? What do you guys know about them? What brands/models do you guys own and like?

I'm kind of in a bind, and in need of some help moving a few pieces of furniture tomorrow (Thursday), or later tonight if that works better for you. It really shouldn't be too difficult, nor should it take too long.

At a minimum, it's a dining room set. This includes a table, chairs, and a china cabinet. The china cabinet is a bit large, but I believe that it seperates into two pieces, the top and bottom.

There may also be a leather sleep sofa. Anyone who has moved one of these before knows that they run a bit heavy.

I really don't know anyone in Richmond yet, as I haven't spent even 3 weeks at my house yet (purchased in April) due to a broken A/C system and issues with my home warranty company. Otherwise, I wouldn't be panhandling for help from people I don't even know on this forum.

I can throw in a 6-pack, or 3 for you to compensate you for your help. In addition, I may even be able to acquire some naked pics of RJ's sister for your enjoyment (not in my house, but in your own).

I'm finally getting around to posting this up. I chose this forum because as I do this and that on it I will post up for all to view.



The car has all kinds of new parts. Completely new fuel system, brakes, wiring, and interior. The engine and trans were rebuilt. The 318 V8 was bored .030 over and the three speed "Slap Stick" transmission was just stock rebuilt.



The underside of the car was completely cleaned, painted, and undercoated where needed. Right now we are working on the interior and getting the windows back in. This is year 6 since the car was torn down. Yeah, we are taking our time.

2003 WRX original battery.

My girlfriend left the lights on in the car over night, and now the battery is DEAD. Does not even making a clicking sound.

Tried to jump it today with no luck. The dash lights got a little brighter, but it would not turn.

I figured I would walk the battery into the nearest autoparts store, and have them test it. Maybe they can charge it???

What do you guys think? Does the quality of jumper cables matter? We used pretty sorry cables. I could call my auto service for a jump. Worth it?
