Welcome to the Campus Events section of the forum. With Madison Motorsports being dedicated to helping students drive faster and safer, this section of the forum is now only visible to registered students.

The goal of the current officers is to create a place where events that are happening in and around JMU can be discussed with people that are here in town. Track events should be in the regular events forum, but Harrisonburg scenic drives, parties, group meals, movie nights, wrench events, and other Harrisonburg specific events can be discussed here!

ok, so my new rectifier came in. i toss it in, toss the new battery in, jump the bike w/ the civic's battery, and it's running, but the headlight and dash lights are all cycling w/ the motor kinda of like flicker bright/flicker dark.

i decide to take it for a ride...

the speedo doesn't work. sometimes... when i give the bike a little throttle around 3-4k rpms (just to cruise), the speedo is on. when i tap the brake, the speedo comes on. when i use the turn signals the speedo comes on with the blinks.

the bike hesitates when giving it heavy gas. kind of like a misfire... and the headlight dims. solution? tap the brake, the headlight brightens and the bike runs fine.

annnnd the battery isn't charging. ideas?

i put the multimeter on the battery as i gave the bike gas and the voltage drops. is that correct?

i don't know shit about eletronics, but it seems the opposites are happening all over the place. tap the brake (use more juice) and the headlight brightens? don't give the bike heavy throttle and the speedo works?

I have been looking for 3 inch stainless steel exhaust flanges for awhile now, and the cheapest I've found is 20 dollars each. I can draw them up in CAD and have them cut on a waterjet for less. The highest they would be is 15 each, but they will probably be less. I just wanted to see if anyone else is interested in getting some. If they are I'll order more. I will probably be using a 3 bolt flange since it is 3 inches. They will be made out of 304.

I'm in blacksburg, but I'm from nova and usually at nasa events so you can avoid shipping if you are in one of those places.

I was invited to a private tour of Dr. Fred SimeoneÔÇÖs car collection. Dr. Simeone is neurosurgeon based out of Philadelphia, PA. He has a collection of around 40 vintage sport and race cars. He likes to keep the cars in an original state (he doesnÔÇÖt believe in restoring them). One of my coworkers picked me up in D.C. where we drove to Tillson Motorcars (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tillsonmotorcars.com/index2.asp">http://www.tillsonmotorcars.com/index2.asp</a><!-- m -->) to meet up with the rest of the guys. Walking around the shop was incredible, two E-type Jags being worked on a couple 356 cabriolets, an Aston martin DB2, older Ruf turbo, 2 BMW 507s (one of which he ran at Mille Miglia) ya know, the usual stuff. We met up with another doctor type guy, a younger guy that is one of the head guys at Subaru NA, a Porsche/Audi dealer, an investment banker out of NYC, some other rich dudes and Dave Olimpi (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.daveolimpiautomobiles.com/">http://www.daveolimpiautomobiles.com/</a><!-- m -->). Anyway we jump into our cars and head into Philli (I rode up in the new Audi Q7 ÔÇô it was nice, nothing different than any other new Audi). The first thing I thought of when I saw the DoctorÔÇÖs garage, was MMÔÇÖs last trip to the Ferrari Challenge shop and how it was a completely plain building from the outside. Any passerby would never know what goodies were on the other side of the brick wall.

ON TO THE GOOD STUFF (keep in mind, this collection is very different then the one Goodspeed saw, there are no real road cars, only race cars) ÔÇô unfortunately they are in the process of getting a book together about the collection, so I canÔÇÖt give you the details on all the cars, but it would be safe to assume that they all have some sort of racing significance. I swear almost all the cars won some sort of event, be it LeMans, the Mille Miglia, etc. or were raced by Sterling Moss, Phil Hill, etc.

mechanic were trying to identify its history last month and think that it may have
raced at Le Mans in 1923 or 1924

8PM until whenever. I'll set up a demo server called "MM Test", password "MM". Come find it. We'll be racing the GT turbo that's even available if you just DL the demo, and it's pretty easy to drive. Those that have played before and those that haven't are all welcome. If you played a year ago and haven't played the latest version, come give it another shot, it's quite good IMHO. We'll share some setups, check out a few tracks, I'd like to get something regular going if there's any interest. Pull out your wheel, gamepad (what I use), whatever (you CAN use the keys, although it kinda sucks), DL the demo and come play. :!:
