"Leaner and meaner" is what I'm reading everywhere. Looks kinda awkward IMO.

Going to Japan Tell me what to see...
Posted by: jongp3 - 11-18-2008, 11:48 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (15)

He guys, I haven't been around much lately, mostly because I'm head over heels in my career right now.

Long story short:

I'm headed to Japan on Monday for about 3 weeks, I'll return on Thursday December 11th. I've been searching around but haven't had much luck, so I was hoping someone on here might know where to go and what to see. I'm a Honda guy so if anyone knows where some cool Honda stuff is let me know. Showrooms, tracks, whatever you got. I'll have enough free time to see lots of things. Best part is its all free paid for by my company. I'll be working M-F but will have the weekends off.
I've never been out of the country so this will be a whole new experience for me in that sense. I'll be staying in Tokyo in the Shinzyuku District, from what I'm told this is pretty much the middle of Tokyo.

I'm equipped with a lightly used Konica Minolta Dimage A200 w/ a 7x zoom lens. I've been playing around with Aperture too so I hope to make this very nice looking.

So anyone been to Japan? Travel tips, advise, and requests post up!

Not really "car" tools, but for you homeowners out there:

Well at least I thought it was a good deal. You can get their "starter kit" for $109. Comes with a decent drill (a CR best buy) and small circular saw. Pick another tool for free. I went for the reciprocating saw. This stuff uses outdated NiCad batteries, but there are plenty of $300 kits that still do too, and at least these are 18V. I was surprised how much power they have. Plenty for my occasional use.

got it for an outstanding deal, about 15k less than asking price, and they classified it as a station wagon, so insurance is nice and close to nothing.

  E30 Project #2
Posted by: Chris - 11-17-2008, 09:54 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (12)

So I picked up another e30 on Saturday. This one and I have some history, as I spent many months in the past building it with my friend. Its nearly identical to my other e30, except its an 84 325e with an eta engine. This is the 2.7 which has about the same torque, but not the same hp as my 2.5.

My friend was sick of trying to sell it and didn't have the time. He never touched the car after we finished building them, so I get another track car!

Here are the highlights:

84 with about 51,000 original miles
re-painted flat black... but its an awful paint job
same race seats as mine- sparco circuit and the sabelt passenger seat
welded in roll bar
spec e30 race springs and shocks
new rotors, pads, and SS lines
lots of maintenance- timing belt, water pump, fluid changes, plugs, wires, distributor, etc.
stripped out interior
sunroof delete
power steering and A/C removed

I'm going to let this car sit a while until I decide to use it or if my brother wants to use it. I need tires and harnesses it I were to autox it or track it.

Its currently not starting. I replaced the battery over the weekend but then it sprayed fuel from under neath at the fuel filter. It also didn't crank the engine at all. I've got a new filter and starter ordered and I'll install it next week. Hopefully it will start then! I'm also trying to get the bumpers back from the guy who painted it... not sure how well it will go.

The wheels in these pictures are for sale!!

Anyone ever use these? I need to replace the tires on my DD Accord and I found a great deal on a set of these.
