  Travel advice - Seattle edition
Posted by: Maengelito - 02-19-2009, 04:49 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (12)

There have been a few travel topics here on MM in the past so I thought I'd throw this one out there.

Me and the Mrs. are going to Seattle next weekend. Well, technically Redmond, WA. Anyone ever been? We'll probably do a few touristy things and more than likely hit up a few vineyards out there as well. Any suggestions on some stuff that are must-do's while out there? Anything motorsport related? I'd love to hear any suggestions you guys have.

ok, go!

  Real Court Transcripts
Posted by: .paul - 02-19-2009, 01:34 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (10)

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now
published by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while
these exchanges were actually taking place.

ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
WITNESS: My name is Susan!
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active?
WITNESS: No, I just lie there.
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
WITNESS: I forget.
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?
___________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo?
WITNESS: We both do.
ATTORNEY: Voodoo?
WITNESS: We do.
ATTORNEY: You do?
WITNESS: Yes, voodoo.
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he
doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?
____________________________________

ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He's twenty, much like your IQ.
___________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS: Are you shitting me?
_________________________________________

ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
WITNESS: getting laid
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: She had three children, right?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.
ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS: Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new
attorney?
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
WITNESS: Take a guess.
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS: Unless the Circus was in town I'm going with male.
_____________________________________

ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition
notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.
______________________________________

ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead
people?
WITNESS: All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.
_________________________________________

ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.
_________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.
____________________________________________

ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Are you qualified to ask that question?
______________________________________

And the best for last:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a
pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began
the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing
law.

No More Caddy "V", Cobalt SS....
Posted by: Ole - 02-18-2009, 06:28 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (8)

DETROIT -- General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles.
GM today disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, said spokesman Vince Muniga.
"All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said. "The engineers are moving into different areas of the organization, and they will work on Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevrolets and Pontiacs."
The unit created low-volume vehicles for GM's divisions designed to appeal to enthusiasts and bolster the company's image. Products included V-series Cadillacs and the Chevrolet Cobalt SS, HHR SS and a V-8 version of the Colorado.
Muniga said there are no plans for high-performance versions of upcoming cars. The move is in the spirit of GM's viability plan delivered to the U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday. In the plan, GM said its future-product focus is on fuel- efficient cars and crossovers. It also pledged to increase its current offering of six hybrids to 14 by 2012 and to 26 by 2014. GM also boosted its request for federal aid by as much as $16.6 billion.
The High Performance Vehicle Operations unit could be reinstated once GM regains its financial health, GM's Muniga said.

The MM Blast from the Past Thread
Posted by: Goodspeed - 02-18-2009, 05:19 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (60)

So, I contemplated putting this in the Friday thread, but its deserving of its own. I've discovered the most awesome thing on the internet since LOLcats and Rick Rolling...the MM search function. Every now and then I'll type in a random search term (something vague I remember from the past), and I'm constantly blown away by the past good times I come across and how old it makes me feel.

So do some searching, and post up what you find. There are tons of funny member-made pics floating around somewhere, quotes, videos, event pics and so on.

I browsed some great hate, and even found my original noob introduction thread. I also found an entire photobucket album of mine that I didn't remember having that had these gems:

What you got?

  F/S - IMI Desert Eagle in 44 Rem Mag. & 22LR Ruger 10/22
Posted by: Jeff - 02-18-2009, 11:17 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (14)

Yes I am trying to sell it...however it is too early for "I told you so" from anyone. I just want chrome so I'm trying to sell the black one. I've only had a chance to take it out once. I shoots great and I love it! All black, comes with case, books, take-down tool, and one mag.

$850 obo. I would partial trade for a 357mag. snub revolver.

Also, a Ruger 10/22 carbine rifle in stainless with a driftwood green stock. It has a Simmons (I think thats the brand) scope on it which is silver to match. Sharp good-shooting little piece. Comes with Ruger sling, case, 10 rnd and 25rnd mags.

$325 obo or trade for a 22lr automatic pistol or 357 snub revolver
