Hey I'm a Senior at JMU and new to MM this year.

I've always been into cars but didn't really start working on them until I got my first about a year ago. I'm more into drag racing than drift, autocross, or road racing...probably one reason I haven't joined MM before now. I currently work at a performance shop in Harrisonburg called MonkeyWrench Performance. There is a strange tuner/racing scene down here, and what I was hoping that by joining MM I would find some more people who are adrenaline junkies who live and breath cars, tuning them, and racing them.

I'm trying to tear down the Buell. For the life of me I cannot break the bolts holding my rotor in place. Any thoughts? I've doused them WD-40 tonight to let it soak. I gave them a few solid taps with a hammer and put the torch to them but no give.

At this point I've warped a permanent curve into my allen wrench trying to undo this.

Since several people expressed interest in driving shifter karts in the Enthusiast's Bucket List thread (<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8700">viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8700</a><!-- l -->) I looked up a place that does shifter kart rentals at the Englishtown kart track in NJ. It is $400 for the day. They have openings on October 11th and 12th.

I figured we could split the rental 4 ways at least, that would give each person 2 hours of track time, which is probably a bit too much considering that a shifter can pull 3.5G in a turn.

I'd say that anyone looking to do this should at least be intermediate level at track days, if not advanced. For those that don't have as much track experience they also rent a 9 hp kart for use at the track. It's about 50% more power than what we use at G-Force so it should still be plenty fun if anyone is interest. That kart only costs $200 for the day.

Just realized i should have done this last year but my parking lot requires no passes and is ALWAYS empty. Not to mention i should have four people living in my place and we only have two. Close to campus, very well lit and we have never had any problems in our lot with vandalism. Figure 100 dollars for the year.

After a failed college attempt right after high school I went to automotive school at Montgomery Community in Rockville. I then went to Land Rover North American HQ (in Lanham, MD at the time) for an internship, best job ever. Every truck was new, we supported the accessory, engineering, and training departments...including the off-road classes. ThereÔÇÖs nothing like thrashing a corporate-owned extremely capable $65K off road machine every Friday. I got an offer from a dealer in Encino, CA and headed west. CA had too many extra-curricular activities so I came back east and started over.

Got married to a great woman who already had two girls and we added two boys. I was sick of working on cars for a living so I went back to school; ended up at JMU where a guy in my music class saw me reading a car mag and suggested MM. I went to a couple evening meets and the guys were great. But, as a commuter with a family it was hard to really get involved.

I always wanted to go to the track but knew nothing about it and that was intimidating. MM got me out to my first HPDE and I flat out loved it. Life makes it difficult to get out more often but things will slow down and I will be out there again. IÔÇÖm doing my first autocross Oct 4th in Verona.

85 Corvette - This is actually the first car IÔÇÖve made any real mods to, the BMW and Honda got springs, but that was it. This got a full interior resortation, repaint, brake upgrade, lowered, and I'm on engine 2.3, third iteration of the 2nd engine, while I work on engine 3.2.

My name is Travis and I attended JMU for one whole entire year back in 2003. Back then I drove a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T that at it's height was powered by an AGP 60 trim. I was heavy into the DSM and drag racing scene although I enjoy messing about with a wide range of cars. I have only attended a couple autox's and zero track events so far.





I am currently an airborne cryptologic lingist in the USAF and between being stationed in Nebraska and deploying to other parts of the world I'm rarely seen...but I will be returning to the DC area for a year this October to attend another langauge class so I am actually going to be around for a bit.
