- Secrets of Solo Racing by Henry Watts, 1989
an older book but all the tech is still sound and applicable. great for autocrossing, which is what i originally bought it to learn about - and i did. excellent shape for its age.

- Bob Bondurant on High Performance Driving by Bob Bondurant, 2003
an easy to navigate guide to techniques and some general prep for HPDE type events and time trials. newer and barely used.

- Dream Cars by Ian Kuah, foreward by Franco Sbarro, 1989
this book is a literal treasure trove of 1980's wildass future cars and tuner specials (Bertone, b+b, Koenig, Rinspeed, and Sbarro among others). if you're into strakes, flares, deep dish BBS and big turbos from the 80's this is a great one with some rare cars. the jacket has some wear but otherwise good shape.

- 50 Years of Classic Cars by Jonathan Wood, 1995
Just a great big book of general facts, figures, and tech about great cars from the last half century. bigtime variety and nice photos. great overall shape.

Our first official MM meeting of the semester will be this Wednesday at 7 PM, in HHS 1209. We will be covering who we are as a club, plus going over details of events for the semester.
New folks - to officially join MM, please bring $20 to cover yearly dues. Dues cover a few things, two of which are a +5 HP MM Sticker, and a T-shirt. They also allow for a much-discounted go-karting rate each semester - you'll find out more about that at the meeting.
Hope to see everyone on Wednesday!

After a great trip last fall, we're doing the Skyline Drive cruise again!
When: September 27.
Where:
If you are driving from JMU, meet us at the Rockingham Hall parking lot around 10:45. We will be leaving promptly at 11.
We will be heading east on Route 33 to pick up Skyline, then heading north on Skyline to Front Royal. From Front Royal, we'll go west on Route 11 and finally, south to Woodstock.
Why Woodstock?
It's more than just a Wal-Mart and a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer  It's also where our famed, Turbo-Van-experienced alumni Jeff lives! He's graciously allowed us to return this year for another BBQ at his swanky house. We will probably arrive between 2 and 3 PM.
Cost / Food / Etc
It's $15 per car to drive on Skyline. Make sure to have some cash with you. People wanting rides... you don't have to, but it's always nice to cover some of the $15 fee as a rider. Just sayin'.
We need MMers to provide some things to make this happen. Things like... Sodas. Chips. Paper plates. Cups. Forks. Napkins. Please reply in this thread to say what you're bringing, that way we don't get 23 bags of chips and nothing else.
Finally!
If you are interested in going - please let us know! We have a new registration system for events like these... so if you are Driving, Needing a Ride, or just meeting us at Jeff's (any alumni?!), click here or visit www.mmsports.org/registration. You will get a message when you have registered - but you don't need to pay via PayPal or look for a confirmation email. That stuff isn't working just yet.
Anyway, please register so Jeff has a valid head-count and knows how much food to purchase.
Hope to see you out there on Saturday!!

Hey all, I'm Taylor, I was the VP of MM last year and have been in MM since the beginning of my freshman year. I absolutely everything about cars, motorcycles, tools, anything with a motor really... I live my with girlfriend close to campus, we have a pet snake named Kaa, and I'm trying to get her more into car stuff, and possibly have her auto-x my car. I will also be auto-xing as much as I can this semester. So here's a picture of me in all my bearded glory...
![[Image: 87896334.jpg]](http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4756/87896334.jpg)
So on to my car, I have a 1995 Honda Civic dx with eibach pro damper shocks, meganracing coilovers, generic strut tower bar, and a dcsports axle-back exhaust. It's kinda/a lot ricey, according to who you talk to in the club. I think it sounds good, not too obnoxious, it's really low to the ground so i scrape over everything. I washed the car today, so here's a pic courtesy of goodspeed...

And, that's about it, I'm currently seeking a crx as my new car, looking at one up near summit point actually, but more than likely, it'll be a while before i get one, because i'm really picky...bring on the hate...

Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you all know MonkeyWrench is going to start hosting Friday night meets at the shop located at 1037 Edom Road. Our first meet is tentatively planned for Friday, September 18th at 6:30pm. All the members of MM are more than welcome to come and check out the shop, see what we do, see some of our project cars, hang out and possibly go out for a cruise later on. We really want to provide a nice, legal location for people to meet up and hang out with their cars. (Of course those of you who are freshman or don't have your car down here are also more than welcome to come as well.)
We're going to try to make this a regular thing until winter really hits in November or December, and definitely bring it back in the spring when race season starts up again in late March. We're going to have food, music, and some fun stuff. Also, we'll explain our special MM Club Discount, JMU Student Discounts, and Track discounts in addition for plans for trips to drag races and drag test ant tune nights/days for anyone who is interested. We have plenty of parking, so be sure to invite your friends too!
If you all are interested in this, let me know!
Thanks
