MM,
For anyone interested, I'm hosting a Megasquirt 101 class tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:00pm at the JMU AFV lab.
www.jmuafv.org
The session is really for a group at the lab that is converting a Harley engine to run off of ethanol, distilled from the left over beer at Coors. However, I figured there might be some folks here that are interested in the fundamentals of the system and would like to hear about it.
I'll have my race car there as well (it runs megasquirt) for a hands-on demo.
Peter

| Short shift vs oem (240sx) |

I don't mind the long shifts, actually I kind of like them. But I would really like a firmer shift rather than the one I have now. A lil shorter shift would be nice becasue its kinda like drivin a truck right now, but idk about 40% which is how much all short shifters for 240's go. I don't want rediculously short either. Any advice or experinece with short shifters would be helpful.

Hi everyone,
So, I've been actively car searching for about 9 months now. I'm absolutely exhausted of this endeavor, and I was wondering if I could tap into the endless well of mechanical know-how and car judgment I've come to expect from MM.
Here's my dilemma, I need something that is either RWD or AWD, not too difficult to work on, manual and less then 100k. I'd prefer imports over domestics and coupes over 4 doors.
Price? lets say less then 6.5k.
Now, here's what I have in mind thus far:
300zx N/A or TT
MkIII Supra turbo
3000gt vr4 (fat chance, right?)
GTI with the VR6 engine
Cars I don't want,
miata,
240sx
I've been looking, but it seems like every example I come across isn't exactly right. I've been looking at a MKIII, but its an auto. I've looked at several VR4's but it seems they all have serious problems. I haven't looked at any 300zx's yet, so I don't know about those.
If you guys have any suggestions or find anything, let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Let the debate ensue!

| Need help, looking for the most ridiculous car to buy/race |

As stated in the thread title, I have a team that has decided to move forward with the 2011 Lemons Effort. We are looking for a car that will be VALUED at less than $500, no need to show me bright and shiny e36s etc that are a steal at $500 (altohugh I may just pick it up to resale ).
The idea behind this is to find a ridiculous car. The judges are what "wins" these events, not whats fast or easy. Apparently according to the forums they really want a V12 barge like a 750i (we are tlaking old here), and Jaguar XJS. We also need something that can go along with a theme. Literally the more ridiculous the better, this is SUPPOSED to be embarassing/fun/ridiculously stupid. a ollllldasss 5 series? Merkur scorpio? pinto? I dont care, hell even better if it has a cage wher ethe person was stupid enough to invest money in it. Running would be key, but honestly not a breaker. Im picking up a welder and wouldnt mind throwing a chrysler lebaron motor into a jaguar. doesnt need to fit well, look good, or be fast. It will of course not be street legal, if E30s werent considered almost "cheater cars" I would love to do a 750i motor into an e30.
Key here is stupid, what would you NOT track?
And yes Jake we are still considering your car, but after reading some of the forums, an e30, miata, etc are not imaginative and wouldnt really win points with the jduges. There is only one award for winning the race in laps, while like 6-8 awrads for crazy themes, ridiculous cars/swaps.
Please help us with ideas!!

I have some time to kill. Girlfriend is out of the country, bluegrass festivals are over, giants won the fuckin world series, and I gotta find something to do. I have been working on developing some leet web development skills, and so I decided to make a site. I of course realize there are a shitton of websites out there to sell a car, but this is an academic exercise mostly, and who knows, maybe it'll get some traffic. That said, anyone have suggestions for the kinds of things you'd like to see on a site selling cars?
here's my top 3:
1) Loads fast
2) Search by sub-model (SS, STi, etc)..seems like most sites dont let you narrow that much without using keywords
3) Good way to display pictures that are a) a good size and b) not in a slideshow or some other thing that makes you navigate away from the page
4) Map search?
I know there are 4.

You can email me for pictures at Fitzpadj@gmail.com or send me a pm on here or reply with your email and I can send them.
I have a set of 17x8.5 DS2s all the way around. You have to pair two pairs of stock rears to get this usually. These are worth more than the staggered sets and the staggered sets sell for $500 all day long. However, these are far from beautiful, they were painted black., are dead straight and come with 245/40/17 Hankook RS2. Perfect track setup for cheap. Only $500 for everything for an MMer.
Alright, debating selling my set of 17x7.5 front, 17x8.5 rear Contours. Along with a 17x7.5 Spare with Michelin Pilot Sport. Fronts have 225/40/17 Potenza RE060s, rears have 245/40/17 Toyo Proxes 4s. Shoot me offers on these, im not sure ill be selling em yet.
Lastly and (new!). I have a I have a 3.91 Differential for sale that I no longer need. Decided to go build a custom diff thats coming in the next two weeks so I gotta get rid of this one. Shorter gear ratios for better acceleration. (cruises at 3250 at 61MPH in 5th gear for an E36). Most cost effective way to get speed. Its a 4-bolt so itll fit most e36s, a few 95s had 6-bolt flanges, but they can be swapped. Just takes an impact wrench. $300, hell ill even help you throw it in, I got all the tools, itll take maybe 1.5-2 hours.
