  Stoeger M2000 Semi Auto 12 Gauge Shotgun -- $350
Posted by: CaptainHenreh - 04-03-2011, 07:34 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (3)

Hey guys.

It's me again, your good friend Rex. Here I am with a slightly different deal today. That is, to sell Julie's cherished M2000.

So here's the story. Julie and I shoot Trap and Skeet over at the Fairfax Rod and Gun club. We have a great time doing it (both of us) but when we started, Julie wasn't sure she'd be into it. That was 3 years ago. Anyway, I had my super pimp Franchi I-12, and she didn't want to spend that kind of bank on something she may not be totally into. So we bought an M2000, mostly because I wanted her to have the same Inertia Drive system that my I-12 had. The inertia system is really easy to clean, and it's always worked on my I-12 so I wanted her to have the same thing.

Anyway, she's kind of little and she's gotten to the point that she really needs a shotgun fitted to her, but I'm not going to spend 2 or 300 bucks on a parkerized 400 dollar shotgun. So I gave her my beloved Franchi (a move I hope I don't regret) and we're going to sell this to finance a new Over/Under for Me.

I don't have any pictures at the moment because I am laaaaazy, but honest, it looks just like this:

I'll take some pictures after I give her a bath and stop being lazy.

Wood stock. Parkerized receiver and barrel. Chromed bolt & carrier. The Inertia Drive system is super easy to clean. Just take out the bolt carrier, wipe it down with an oiled cloth, toss it back in. Piece of cake.

It looks pretty much like the day we got it. Runs like it too. The only problem my wife has ever had is the button to close the bolt is a little heavy, and her thumbs don't have enough chutzpah to close the action on cold days, so she has to use a shell. I've never had any problems when *I* shoot it, but have you ever told your wife/girlfriend/whatever to "suck it up and grow a pair"? It doesn't work out very well.

Where was I?

Anyway, this has been a great starter gun but it's time to move on.

Summary:
Here's what I have:
1 Used Good Condition Stoeger M2000 Walnut

Here's what you have:
$350 Dollars OR
An over/under whose manufacturer or country of origin begins with a "B".

If you've got the first, I'll sell you my wife's shotgun. If you've got the second, maybe we can work out a trade deal? (Not likely with this crowd, but whatevs)

Pics forthcoming later in the week, when I get off my lazy behind.

Love,

Rex

Oil drain pan that doesn't suck
Posted by: ScottyB - 04-03-2011, 05:19 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (11)

i've gone through about 4 of these:
that's the exact one i have right now.

for reasons that elude even me, i continue to buy more of the same crap. it does the following after about 5 uses:
- cap crossthreads, then cracks, then leaks
- plug crosstheads, then cracks, then leaks
- drips everywhere, i get yelled at

and then i end up tossing the whole thing in the dumpster after recycling the oil at Advanced. do you guys know of a really good brand that doesn't do this, and where can i get one? all i want is to be able to seal it up so it doesn't leak when i transport it to empty it, and have it last more than a year.

edit: i'm open to tide bottles if they are effective?

  Avoiding Enthusiast Burnout
Posted by: G.Irish - 04-01-2011, 01:32 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (46)

As I was chatting with some of the MM crew at VIR we got on the subject of burnout. Several of us have gotten to the point with the whole trackday, volunteering, racing, or autocrossing thing that we burn out. So much work and money put into it that you just end up stopping doing it altogether.

For me, I got burnt out after my Integra got stolen, I bought another partially prepped car, tried to get that out racing, only to find out there was a bunch of shit wrong with the car I had bought. That was the same time I had bought a bike and I just basically just starting doing exclusively bike stuff for awhile. Meantime I avoided dealing with that effed up car for years.

Looking back on it, had I not been so hasty to get another car maybe things would've been different. I think at the time I just didn't consider how much effort I had to put in things as a factor. After a certain point I just didn't feel like putting that much effort into it, not to mention the racing series I wanted to do was basically falling apart. Then there were the various trailer mishaps I had...

If I were to give anyone advice on how not to end up the same way, I'd say that you've gotta find a setup that doesn't take so much effort to participate that it sucks the fun out of it. Get something that's not going to need a ton of maintenance or fixing to get on track, isn't gonna break, and is easy to get to the track. Something that is not going to take all of your disposable income so that you're not stressing it.

I also have to wonder if maybe another way to avoid burnout is to simply have more balance in your life. Do other things that are fun so that the fixation on speed doesn't ruin your enjoyment.

Anyway, just some thoughts, I know some other people have ended up getting to the burnout point at one time or another, hoping you can share some thoughts.

Anybody still in the Harrisonburg area have a 600cc motorcycle sized trailer that I could borrow for a day? Compensation could be in liquid barley and hops form.

  FS/FT: 17x8 BBS RGR, silver, +40

FS: Silver BBS RG-R, 17x8 +40, 5x120. I had em on an E36 M3, though they'll also look quite nice on an E30 M3.

No tires - I pulled off the RE11s for my new boosted piggie.

$1500 is about half off MSRP for these things and they are pretty damn mint. I may even knock another $100 off for an MMer.

LMK Smile I didn't realize E36s were so popular round these parts.

Trade: M3 wheels for E36 wheels
Posted by: missmotocross3 - 03-31-2011, 03:43 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (1)

My co worker has a set of really nice 17" M3 wheels and is looking to trade those for a set of 16" e36 wheels (the 5 or 6 spoke kind). Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

Hey MMers! Figured I should make an account on here and post up.

My name is Kevin Ponceloranca, and I'm the president of the Car Club at Virginia Tech. I am currently studying Industrial and Systems engineering and will graduate at some point in 2013, possibly 2014. Some of you guys may have seen me around at the autocrosses out in Verona - I drive the silver tc....lol. It's not the fastest car, but it's a nice car for what it is. however.....its still a tc  lol. anyway, here's some pics

It's got a cold air intake, header, exhaust, lightweight crank pulley, lowering springs, and a rear sway bar. As far as cosmetics go, I'm rockin the debadged look (that adds like 10 hp and saves at least 3 pounds, right? lol), I'm HID positive (car has projectors and I've aimed the lights low, so I'm not that guy that goes around with the lifted jeep blinding everyone) and I've redid all the interior lighting (guages, center console, etc..)

So yeah, this is my ride and some info about me. Lookin forward to meeting more of you guys this weekend. I'll be coming up with a group of CCVTers on Friday.....friday friday. lol.
