  1992 BMW 325is
Posted by: Sully - 08-04-2011, 09:59 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (9)

Hey my new roommate's family is sellin this 325 and I told him I'd ask around and see if there was any interest here.

What he told me:

1992 BMW 325is
Red
Mileage: Around 150k
Leather Interior
Runs Smooth
Aftermarket Headunit
5 Speed Manual

Price would be around 2-4k...Don't know what that means but I am guessing it's negotiable. This is merely to see if there is any interest and if so, I can set you up with his contact info or get more details.

Sister Wants A New Cheap Car...
Posted by: Machungwa63 - 08-04-2011, 07:33 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (5)

Figured you guys helped me out on the convertible - so it's time for Round 2!!

My sister's 2001 Ford Taurus just failed it's state inspection on 4 things and she's trying to find something to replace it with in the future. (FYI, the Stratus passed on everything). She considers her current 2001 car "old" and at 193,000 miles you can't really blame her - she wants a car with lower numbers there too (mileage). Doesn't want it to cost a whole lot (considering the Taurus was a bargain at $800). She finds Jeep Wranglers appealing...but not PT Cruisers (to give you an idea of her taste). Won't get a Wrangler because she likes air conditioning (something that sucked on the Taurus). Also, she's complained about the MPG on the Taurus, so high number for that would be good too. What you got?

  T-Shirt Design Ideas
Posted by: Sully - 08-04-2011, 07:26 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (46)

The current officers have gotten together and we would like to get a new design to add to our Club shirts. I know we have a couple apparel and art experienced members, and we were hoping to capture some feedback or ideas that you all have. Not just the art talented. After all, the majoirty of the wearers of the shirts are the members, so we want to know what you guys want on a shirt. I love our popular Tach design but I feel everyone in the club already has one and I know I have two of the exact same shirt so a fresh design would be nice. I know I would much rather rock an MM shirt around campus than a JMU shirt. It would be cool if we could get a JMU logo on our shirt but that might mean miles of red tape to get around with the school so not to sure about that. Might have to look into it.

We also need a design for the college solo autocross and once again would like to extend the council on what it should look like to you all since you are the ones who have (hopefully want) to wear them. This one needs to be planned out a little sooner than the other one but we still have plenty of time for both which is why I'm posting this now. \

So any ideas would be great

Saturday August 6th there is a CDC autox at Hylton High School. It may be a slightly smaller lot than your used to but at 6-8 runs its better to test and tune your car than any other autox. Plus its cheap, and they are offering $10 off for second entries.

  2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS- Detail Write-up Premier Shine
Posted by: premiershine9 - 08-02-2011, 09:50 PM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (14)

Hello MM!
I had the pleasure of spending a day with this brand new Porsche 911 GT2 RS limited edition model. The car only has 1,500 miles on it as the owner has only recently picked her up. Knowing the extremely low mileage I performed a simple one-step polish to remove the fine hairline scratches that were present from improper washing from the dealership. Following the light correction I applied Power Lock for a durable layer of protection.

Only 500 of these "limited edition" models were made, 149 of the 500 were allowed to be sold in the U.S.

With a price tag close to $250,000, I approached this detail with the utmost professionalism and concentration, this is the most expensive car to date I have ever worked on.

Lets start the magic

Exterior:
Zep Citrus 3:1, 5:1
Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner
0000 steel wool on the tips, followed up with Eagle One Nevr Dull wadding
Uber spoke brush
Swissvax Pneu Brush
Various other brushes
303 Aerospace Protectant
Chemical Guys Citrus Wash
Uber Blue Fine Clay
Chemical guys luber

Interior:
Compressed air
Ridgid Shopvac
Swissvax Pneu brush

Correction:
Flex DA
Porter Cable DA
Menzerna 106fa via orange uber pad

LSP- Menzerna Power Lock via black uber pad

After fully washing the car using the 2-bucket method and CG Citrus wash, clay decontamination and a follow up with another 2-bucket method wash, the car was then dried and pulled underneath the halogens for a closer look at the paint.

has anyone extended a car warranty?
Posted by: .paul - 08-02-2011, 02:26 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (22)

My warranty on my 08 Touareg is up in 400 miles. I definitely want to renew it with the big engine, turbos, and air suspension. I called VW and spoke to a friend of mine, and was quoted $5,000 for an extra 6 years and up to 120,000 miles.

Maybe I was way off, but i was thinking/hoping for ~2500 bucks. Any input or advice from anyone?

How to find all parts on clearance for your whip on RockAuto
Posted by: SlimKlim - 08-02-2011, 11:09 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (9)

Not my invention, got it from a guy who got it from a guy who knows a guy. Also, it takes longer to read how to do it than it does to actually do it, so its worth your time.

Go Here: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/catalog.php

UPDATE 04/29/2015: For this trick to still work, you need to click "Traditional HTML Catalog" towards the bottom of the left column and then select your vehicle.

Search through the catalog till you find your specific car model. Stop after you select the engine.

Your address bar should read something like "http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1333381" The numbers at the end are your car's code #.

Use this link, but replace the Xs after "carcode=" with your car's code. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeeds.php?carcode=xxxxxxx&m=wc&l=en&html=true">http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeed ... &html=true</a><!-- m -->

Viola. If you need normal replacement parts you can save a buttload of money. I could get a set of brake pads for $18 for the miata, front and rear. The only reason I don't is the OE-replacements wouldn't last a session on track, so I gotta get the "expensive" ones.

Likewise, a set of pads for my M3 would be $40, a clutch disc for the Miata would be $45, or a 180* thermostat for $4.80, or a plug wire set for $15. Pretty ballin.

  Wheel Suggestions
Posted by: JPolen01 - 08-01-2011, 09:54 AM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (10)

I come to you guys and your infinite wisdom for wheel suggestions. I recently sold my ESM wheels because I wasn't in love with the fitment in the front. I am now searching for a new set. I have searched everywhere and only come across a few wheels but nothing that I really loved. I am looking for 17x8.5 or 17x9 with an offset around +25 in a 4x114.3 bolt pattern. I hate my lug pattern for obvious reasons :finger: . Looking for something with a nice size lip or something concave. Any ideas you guys have would be great!

Quick Edit- I have looked at Rota D2s but their 1.5 inch lip is kinda small. Also looked at XXR 527 Super Stretch. They are concave, but with the size/offset I want they won't be the super concave look that I like.
