Figured Id update MM with what I've been up to lately. Haven't been on the site much in a couple years.

Seeing RJs bike years ago inspired me. Also a failed attempt at buying it a couple times made me want to tackle my own "cafe type" project. I have no interest in a sport bike. Going over 100 mph on one wheel doesnt appeal to me at all. Both of my roomates have bikes and I had to get something at least. The search started with the typical Honda CB bike, then one day I found this on craigslist in warrenton about 15 mins from my house.


Here is the bike when I went to go look at it.

It was last road worthy somewhere around 1994. It was in a garage under a tarp where it sat for 16 years. The owner passed away and his friend pulled it out and got it running to sell.

Surprisingly the bike fired right up and my roomate who could ride gave it a run around the block. Its seemed good! Having something different that you rarely see is always cool. shaft drive and boxer motor! and it was white. $1500 later it was mine. Paul jumped on the bike after we aired up the dry rotted tires and brushed off the cob webs and made the 20 min ride home with me following.

I already had lots of plans and ideas for this ugly stock bike!

All cars are build very nice with top notch parts. Currently lost license due to speeding. Even did some jail time. So all my cars that go semi fast, look flashy, and draw attention from cops have to go.

I've got either 3 or 4 of these laying around, I'll double check when I get all my furniture back to normal after the carpet cleaning. I originally bought these for my Acura, but never took the headlights back apart to put them in. The benefits are a sharper, crisper HID light cutoff and the blue/purple flicker that you get from the high-end BMW HID lenses.

These are ZKW replicas but look pretty close to the real OEM BMW thing. Applications:

Price new was $40 shipped. These are new and never installed. I will double check again on the total number i have. One of them had a slight chip on the edge that would not be noticeable once installed into a HID housing and another I think had a tiny scratch on the very middle of the lens. This really shouldn't matter either and I doubt would be noticeable at all with the light output. I have two that are flawless as well I think.

'99 Miata taillights. Ain't many of these in the club, but I know you probably know some Spec guys who get their crashy-crashy on. Dismantlers like the Partsgroup and Planet-Miata usually charge $100/ea for these (lenses only). I'll take $100 American dollars for BOTH.

Hey guys, selling my black Enkei Performance Imola wheels. Three are in almost new condition and one has curb rash. They're currently wrapped in Sumitomo HTRZII which have about 20% life left in them. Specs are as follows:

Tires are 235/40/18

Asking $400 for them or a trade if you have 5x114.3 wheels with something close to a +38 offset. Or snow tires around 235/40/18.

Been crazy busy with school and work at MAM, got a chance to squeeze another detail in el garaje before turkey week festivities begin.

Vehicle: Saab 9-7x JUSTIN G's Ride! (fellow MM'er)

Little briefing:
Justin and I looked over his newly purchased Saab back at the Fiesta en fuego party (thanks again Rex!) and in the sunlight you could see swirls and buffer burn trails EVERYWHERE :vomit: . Needless to say I was more than happy to take on the task of removing another "detailers" dumb f#*@$&#*!$ mistake.

Education time:
What are these swirls/buffer trails/ holograms and why do they appear in my cars Clear coat?
- About 98% of all swirls and holograms (buffer trails/tails) or buffer burn etc. comes from improper use of a rotary polisher aka improper high speed polishing. In a nut shell the user either chooses and incorrect combination of proper pad and polish (such as a medium polish on a compounding pad) or the idiot does not properly take the time to fully break down the polish/compound and instead cranks the dial up to full and in effect "burns" the clear. :roll: A wool pad will also leave the same results. This leaves behind what you see below........

Notice tails in left rear panel- yes that's a murci and thats how it came from the factory.....



Lesson to be learned- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Also if you want to see more puke-worthy examples of pathetic detailing and more damage visit a car lot at night and look underneath the lot lights....chances are some shady "detailer" with a high speed rotary along with a pad that hasn't been cleaned in years is touching a majority of them. One of the best examples is Radical motorsports in my town back home- the inventory is stocked with high end exotics and all are littered with holograms- how pathetic. .....Rant off.

On with the detail!

Wash: (2 hours)
- Chemical guys citrus wash mixed w/ Chemical guys maxi sudz 2
- Uber fine blue clay
- ONR for clay lube
- OPT Power Clean
- Citrus Degreaser
- Sonax FE wheel cleaner
- Uber Spoke brush
- Swissvax Pneu/ wheel brush
- 2 MF wash mitts & a uber super thick wool mitt
- Pinnacle bug and tar block

Correctional process: (15 hours)
- Flex DA
- Lake Country Cyan blue foam (aggressive)
- Uber orange foam pad (medium)
- Uber Green foam pad (polish)
- Uber Black foam pad (LSP applicator)
- 25% IPA solution
- Meguiars 105 (M105) Ultra Cut Compound
- Menzerna SIP (medium cut polish)
- Menzerna 106FA (finishing polish)

303 aerospace protectant on all trim
glass cleaned inside and out
Exhaust tip cleaned up with 0000 steel wool and OPT Power Clean

LSP- Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Paint Sealant

Note- had to borrow roommates camera- Nikon DSLR still at home......

Some befores during the wash process- I started detail at & am and it was quite COLD- didn't stop to take many of the wash process

After a 2-bucket method was performed, the car was then pulled into my garage to be fully clayed, then brought back out to re-wash with another 2-bucket method

Pulled inside and put under lights.....no surprise here:

After 2 passes with M105, a pass with Menz. SIP and another pass with Menz. 106
- Took 4 steps (close to an hour and change FOR ONE PANEL) in order to reach this:

Following this the drivers mirror, all the areas above the doors were corrected, as well as the 3rd and final rear panel and I began to move around to the front of the SUV.

Front bumper before (note- the small specs are rock chips and other damage to the clear)
Bugs can be quite acidic and after being left on the clear and exposed to heat can etch into your cars clear which explains why there still looks like there is bug splatter present- think of it as a stain

The hood- by far the WORST damaged piece on the entire vehicle, did not take after pics (forgot) but here are some befores. The hood took 2 passes with M105 on a LC Cyan pad, one pass with M105 on a Orange Uber, SIP on an orange, 106 on the green.
All in all- over 2 hours invested into JUST THE HOOD.





Notice how the dumbass who caused all the burning didn't even bother to pay close attention to the lines in the bodywork.....Rule #1 when using a rotary- watch the lines and keep the pad off of them........ clearly showing that someone was rushing.....



After a little over 2 hours and several Foo fighters tracks later we get:

I asked this somewhere but never did anything...can't find that post so I am starting a new one...

Back when I was in HS (1979) a buddy had a couple bikes. Kawasaki KZ H 400 (2 stroke) and a Suzuki PE250. The latter was my favorite. I could go dirt riding on it or ride back and forth to school. I am looking for something fairly inexpensive that is similar to that Suzuki. I haven't driven for about 10 years now (dirt bike) and don't want anything to radical, just something I can ride to Starbucks or go trail riding...

Tell me what you guys know as I am have been out of the bike scene way too long.
