I kinda need help... fast
Posted by: ispoonwithmugen - 01-25-2012, 06:05 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (38)

Well, as you may know, I was planning on working on the car this weekend, but I have a subaru tech at home who is free who will do it for free Smile buttttt, there is a problem.. my car isn't starting now. I thought it was the starter a few days ago because I got it running twice with running starts and it started twice on it's own. I went to try a rolling start the other day and nothing happened. Today, I go out to change the starter and go to start it and again nothing. Try to jump it, again nothing. Any help would be really appreciated. It's sitting out in the baseball lot, and my dorm is right next to it so I can come outside. I need to be home either late Friday or early Saturday. So please if you can help me out

 FS: Set of 16" Blizzaks
Posted by: Jake - 01-24-2012, 10:53 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (1)

I have a set of Blizzaks that I want to move along.

Size is 225/50/16. They only have one season of driving on them, so plenty of tread 'n' stuff left.

New ones go for $125 apiece, I'd like $320 OBO. I'm in Fairfax and work in Dulles so pretty flexible on delivery/pickup options. Could probably get them down to JMU easily enough, too.

What this is, is SCCA shuts down a "mountain pass", and just like an autocross, you go as fast from start to finish as possible. I was wondering if anyone in MM has done this before? It is an officially sanctioned SCCA event and requires an SCCA Competition License or Time Trial License. Luckily SCCA and NASA recognize each other's licenses (but not memberships).

This looks like a freaking blast! I wonder if we could get any MMers to work this as it would seem like this would be a really cool one to work or drive. I am tempted to work this one, so im still in the air wether I will drive or not.

The cars also need to prepped to SCCA time trial status (more than just hpde prep).

Anyone interested?

Posted by: navin - 01-20-2012, 04:34 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (23)

Selling each for $400 -- Been used for about 2 1/2 years. They both come with the stock Vizio base. One will come with a wall mount since I'm gonna upgrade to something a little bigger.

Only reason I'm selling is because the gf is moving in and bringing her TV..

Need to look up model # - the 240hz go for about $550 new. Open to offers, would like to get both out by next week if possible.

 Baltimore Grand Prix 2012-Gauging Interest
Posted by: JPolen01 - 01-19-2012, 12:02 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (25)

As the Grand Prix is set to return to Baltimore, I wanted to see if there is any interest in getting a group together and heading up for the weekend to watch this. The date is is set for the weekend of September 2nd. Friday is practice while Saturday and Sunday have the real races. If you haven't seen the track or ever been to Baltimore, it's a 2 mile track that weaves through the inner harbor. Not sure when tickets go on sale (event isn't for months as stated earlier), but I am offering up my house, which is ten minutes outside of Baltimore, to any people interested in going. I figured we could start this thread with questions, ideas, whatever. I am definitely going this year because I didn't make it last year and from what I heard it was awesome. I'm interested in the 2 day pass for Saturday and Sunday. Who's up for a road trip?

 Question for detailing guy

I am thinking about buy a truck that has had stickers of some sort stuck on it for several years. What is the likelihood of getting those off, and is there anything that can be done about the "burn in" appearance that is likely to be left?

MMovie Nights: Senna and Murray Walker's Fantastic Moments
Posted by: Machungwa63 - 01-18-2012, 09:08 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (4)

While the racing season is quiet, I figured we could all get together for a couple of MMovie nights. Currently, "Senna" is on NetFlix. I highly recommend this movie and, if you cannot make it out to a movie night or we do not end up having one, there is no excuse for not watching this movie/documentary. You will learn a great deal about one of, if not the best, Formula 1 driver of all time who won 3 F1 World Championships while racing from 1984 until his untimely death in 1994 in Imola. Here is a clip from the movie on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FlCxD5-GqQ

The other movie is called "Murray Walker's Fantastic Moments" - it takes a look at the history of F1 from 1976-1996. Sound boring? It's not. It has clips about Hill v. Schumacher and Senna v. Prost and covers drivers from Gilles Villeneuve to...well...Jacques Villeneuve. Here are a couple of F1 clips that are shown during the movie (enjoy Murray Walker's fabulous commentary!!) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZw6d8YuOAo and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2g1yrGputA

The one problem with the second movie is that it is VHS. I can access NetFlix in my house and we can watch "Senna" here although my living room is rather cramped, but I don't have a VCR. Let me know who's willing to watch, and when and where you all think we should meet up.
