Lifting this idea from Taylor's hobby thread. Apparently we all enjoy cooking dead things and drinking good beer, so we might as well have a thread to show it off. Let's get down to business:
This was a pan-sear, oven-finish tenderloin I made for Lauren's birthday with white cheddar mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli with caramelized onion and bacon bits. This was the best Filet I've ever made, I used a remote meat thermometer to let them cook to exactly 125* and then let them rest in a tin foil tent for 10 minutes to finish cooking to medium rare.

Felt randomly inspired to try making my own cream of mushroom soup a while ago. So I got some dried porcinis and a crapton of assorted mushrooms, cooked the crap out of them for about 40 minutes, added some chicken stock, blended about half of it, then served it with a slice of toasted baguette, mascarpone cheese, more mushrooms, fresh parsley and a some lemon juice and zest.

Boilermaker Chili. This is the crown jewel of my cooking skill set. It's legitimately my own recipe that I've tweaked and modified from the chili recipe my mom used to make me as a kid. Takes me about 6 hours to make a proper batch and has a ton of stuff in it, but all you need to know is bacon, beer, bourbon, chocolate.

Now what have you MM. I believe some claims of "best brisket you ever tasted" were made.

Hey guys! I don't want to sound like a slut, but I frequent other forums. Tacomaworld has a very nice subscriptions tab where I can click it and see if anyone has posted anything new in my favorite threads. That'd be super cool here, even though it's not easy to lose a thread here.
Is that feasible?
See here http://www.tacomaworld.com/ It's on the blue bar.

Just saw this on Reddit. I'm curious to see how long this engine lasts. If it doesn't supernova after a while, I'll be impressed. Sounds pretty sick.

What hobbies do you have OTHER than cars?

I think it's always interesting when a group of people knows each other due to a common interest. You never really expect anything more than that out of the people. It's very easy to be surprised by what OTHER things people like to do.
So, what do you like to do other than cars?
I've got the regular things like playing golf and playing drums, but I also used to have my own webshow when I was younger. Around the time I was 12 or 13, I joined the website Twitch.tv, but it was called Justin.tv back then. I was one of the first couple hundred people on there really and I was pretty successful with it. It kind of took up a lot my life. I was pretty nerdy back then. I had a blast and even had around $1300 donated to me by one guy that REALLY liked my show. I also chatted a few times with founder, Justin Kan, and now he's a multi-millionaire. I still have the pages of e-mails from me arguing with the admins about features. Most of those admins are long gone now and the website is HUGE. It was a blast and I miss it some times, but I've grown up and moved on. Now that website is nothing but professional gamers and such doing it for the money. Kind of sad.

2009 Z51 Corvette

Well, after over a year of searching and toiling over whether or not to buy, I pulled the trigger today on this 2 owner 2009 Corvette with under 25k miles on the clock. I was pleasantly surprised with a pretty good interest rate on the loan, so maybe I should have done this months ago.
I did not intend on buying from CarMax, but when I saw this car online at a store in Maryland with every option I wanted, I knew I had to get it transferred to Virginia Beach (for free). They actually had it listed for about 8% under retail. I have a feeling they did not know all of the options on it (didn't list Z51 on the ad). All-in-all I was very satisfied with the purchasing experience.
Highlights:
LS3 rated at 436hp
Z51 performance package (stiffer springs and swaybars, wider tires, larger rotors, both a power steering and engine oil cooler, and MZ6 transmission)
Dual mode exhaust: Butterfly valves allow exhaust to basically bypass the mufflers under the following conditions:
Above 30% throttle and 3,500 rpm
Between 30% throttle and 80% throttle and above 3,500 rpm
Above 80% throttle and above 2,800 rpm
Bose stereo, heated seats, head-up display, Bluetooth capabilities (phone calls only)
My impressions after driving it home and parking it for the Hampton Roads snowpocalypse coming tomorrow are as follows: "wow". More to come on that.
Here's the one decent photo thus far.

Commission Based Positions

I've recently started interviewing for jobs in sales. Industries I'm looking at currently are technology, insurance, and a little bit of staffing agency type work. Today I had a great interview with a big name life insurance/retirement planning firm. On the spot my interviewer (managing partner of the Baltimore office) set me up an appointment with their head of training and another appointment with himself. I'm excited about moving forward and the potential opportunity with this company, but it is a 100% commission based sales position. No draw, no base. Does anyone have experience in a 100% commission position? How much does it suck (or not)? The position is uncapped. Am I crazy for entertaining the thought of a position like this right out of school?

Hi! So for the third time this week my Bimmer's dashboard lit up like a christmas tree half way through my drive. After an hour of driving on 81 the DSC light came on and the BRAKE light comes on. I turn the car off and it goes away. Then it comes back in an hour. 81 was bone dry. Not sure what the problem could be. I have a 2001 325i. Advice??? :dunno:

Brother in law wants to paint the stock steelies on their Subaru, probably a flat black or undercoating or something fairly easy. Sanding, etching, media blasting, taping things off, whatever they need for prep doesn't sound like something I wanted to volunteer for, so if anyone who enjoys such things and has some experience with it would like to give him a quote for the set, send me a PM. I would assume he'd just want to give you the car for a couple days and return when it's done.

Ohhh herrroooo
My friend wants to AutoX his STI and is looking to buy tires. Wanted to throw it out there to MMers to see what tires you would recommend.
He is considereing Direzzaa Z2s; Bridgestone RE11; BFG Rivals; Hoosier A6s
My vote is for the RE11's.
Thoughts?
Muchas gracias. xoxoxo
