Hey guys! I was changing my diff oil out when Sam called me needing a jump. I finished up and threw the drain jug in the bed. Didn't think about it.

It turned over and spilled everywhere coating my entire bed with 1/2 an inch of oil. I spent like 20 minutes pressure washing it and it just won't come out.

I can't stand the smell. You can smell it from like 10 feet away from my truck and it's a mess. I can't put anything back there now.

What the hell will get rid of it? I can't use water because water just rolls off of the oil and it's like glued to my bedliner.

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to doing a write up on my car, Ill try to keep updating it with pictures as I find them on my old computer. It won't be too in depth right now because I'm just using this to procrastinate. How do you post pictures?

Hey everyone, I am involved with planning a show in August called supercars on state street in Harrisburg PA. We're in our fourth annual year and it really only seems to get better each year. Hey guys so I was driving today and my check engine light came on. pulled the code and its a cylinder 3 misfire. Bought a new ignition coil and all new spark plugs to try and fix the issue but parts aren't coming in till Monday. Didn't know if anyone in the burg area had a place/garage I could do the work in for like an hour or so. Shouldn't take long but just would rather not do it in my parking lot in Forest.

I finally popped my new car cherry today, unfortunately it was out of necessity and not driven by desire. Allow me to back up, the preceding months have offered an abundance of "opportunity" for me to learn about basic old school mechanics, the down side was I was getting this education while trying to daily the car.

after some lovely conversations with my better half the common themes of "reliable" and "safe for children to ride in" kept coming out. We decided to look for a small run-around/commuter car to maybe lease for 2 years then figure out what to do after that. fine print on leases were dumb, and the used car market seemed insanely high, so new it was.

Bought a 2013 Honda Fit. It had a few things going for it over the others in the segment, but mainly the 2015 was coming down so I was hoping dealers would be motivated. I decided the base model would be fine, and three pedals seemed abundant still. emailed every dealer from Richmond to nova with what i was looking for earlier in the week and got some decent out the door prices. msrp is $16,250, and in VA i guess they can bend you over with a 'processing fee' which was $200-500 depending on the dealer. By the time taxes and everything were done, I walked out of Harrisonburg Honda for 15 flat. I went in with financing from my CU at 1.74%/60, but honda had 0.9% for 60 and 1.9% for 72 months. it was like even freer money.

Over all, pretty good first time experience, I did start to tear up a bit right after, but it was just so emotional, ya know?

And since I'm sure you don't spend time reading up on Fit specs, allow me to leave you with some of it's amazing offerings.

So I recently accepted another job. This new job will require me to travel 120 miles round trip at least 4 days a week and there is no way I'm driving my F-150 that much. The drive is 5 miles of interstate and 55 miles of highway ranging from 50-60mph speed limits. Very little stop and go. I think I go through 5 red lights on the entire commute.

Here are my musts:
1. Economy. Putting that many miles on a car I don't want to have to fill up with gas every day, so it needs to get at least very high 20mpg and preferrably in the 30+mpg on the highway.
2. $14,000 and under. I'm not going to drop a bunch of money into something I'm just going to mile the shit out of.
3. Reliability. I don't want something that will require constant work. General maintenance is a given and so are things here and there but nothing with horrid relaibility ratings or excessively hard to work on.
4. Under 75k miles. If I'm going to be piling on the miles for the forseeable future, the lower the better.

Here are the vehicles I have been looking at so far and an example of each. Critique them, if you know something about them give me the + and - of them. Or give me your own ideas.

~2010 Honda Civic.
+Can be had all day for 11-14k with less than 50k miles.
+Great gas mileage, 38mpg highway rating.
+Good relability?
+Available in Coupe or Sedan, not sure which one I would want.
- Not much power
- Somewhat smaller/cramped than some other choices

~2012 Chevrolet Impala
+300 hp
+Tons of room
+Can be had with 25-35k miles in my price range.
+EPA of 30mpg highway
- Blah styling
- Blah handing
- Questionable reliability?
- Crappy city mpg.

So a few of you all weren't able to make it (and I'm sure the alumni are curious as to what is going on) so I'll go ahead and post the plans for this semester.

First off is the set in stone dates:

Karting- March 1st
We will be carpooling to G-Force in Richmond around 7ish in the morning. All information can be found in http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11060

March Madness at VIR- March 21-23rd
We try to go to as many of NASA Mid Atlantic's events as possible (because put simply they are beyond fun). This is the opening event of the year since they didn't have a February event. We will carpool down Friday night/Saturday morning and times will vary on when we are coming back home. Regardless you will have a ride there and back.

Spring Car Show- April 5th
Every year we have a philanthropy car show in the spring. The car show will be in the baseball lot. This year all proceeds are going to Bipolar Aware. Our hopes this year are to expand even more than we had last year. Specifically we hope to get vendors out and more donations for raffles/trivia etc. We are working on building this thread now.

Spring Rumble at Summit Point- April 26-27th
This is another NASA-MA event. Summit Point is a little closer to JMU so this is a lot more convenient for us to get out to.(roughly an hour and a half).

Here are some tentative dates/ideas with dates getting worked on:

Dinner and social get together at Chris's: Looking at possibly the 15th of February
Great Falls Cars and Coffee: waiting for weather to warm up so we can see some F40's and such
Educational Meeting: Later in semester somebody will come in and explain something technical (i.e. engines, suspension, turbo, etc)
I don't have the sheet on me but I believe there was other things we mentioned as well. I'll update it, I just don't feel like going out into the blistering cold again.

Hey guys my name is Anthony Avino and I am a Junior in the College of Business. I transferred here from West Virginia University and have a dying passion for cars. I am all about the German Engineering car scene and won't touch anything that is not BMW. Got into cars from helping rebuild my friends Eclipse 3G engine top to bottom and knew after that I was hooked. I currently drive a 2007 BMW 335i with a few mods. Love the whole car meet scene and potentially am interesting in tracking the car down the road.

Went out to my truck today and I guess the cold has hit. Slow crank.

I need to figure out what I want. I want an optima, but cant really afford onr right now and I've heard mixed reviews from Tacoma guys. I have a cb, amp, and a PA speaker pulling on it now and plan to add trail lights in the future so I need something good for deep cycle stuff. Trying not to break the bank and I'd love to pick it up near Harrisonburg.

Suggestions?
