Is anyone else getting logged out every so often even though the "log me on automatically" box is checked? This used to only happen to me every few months but now it's 3 times in this week alone. Any suggestions?

Project Yamahauler - I miss MM project threads!
Posted by: Jeff - 01-18-2014, 09:06 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (12)

So yeah, I miss breaking shit up all the time and always having a new project thread. Running out of spare cash for cars made me want to get into a mechanical hobby that would take up less money, but more importantly less space and let me do some work with my welding. This led me to the idea of golf cars as an outlet for this extra energy. When I go to these horse events with my wife there are always a ton of them running around all lifted up and pimped out and it got me to wondering what I could come up with. Needless to say golf cars (carts, I guess) are not exactly cheap. Of the three major brands EzGo, Club Car and Yamaha, Yamaha is the smallest...so naturally when there is a "big three" I gravitate toward the questionable underdog! So I wanted to find something I could afford and for no logical reason I had developed the idea I wanted a Yamaha. I found several but was never able to beat other Craigslist hounds to the kill until I found this 1993 Yamaha G9 just a short drive away. It was in tatters (was, HA!) and not running. The old man was asking $850! Needless to say I saw a diamond in the rough and made a deal to haul it home. Here is how it would have looked when it was fresh and new on the links back in 1993...

Here are some pics! It looks pretty much the same now as it did, I didn't really take any when I first got it from my man Vernon.

This is the one picture I found from when I first got the cart. Pretty much right after we rolled of off the trailer. The only picture I have with the rear cladding installed.

[Image: 197C8E2B-F03A-472D-9C3A-77EB6E540731_1.jpg]

The initial work involved a full service, rebuilding the airbox (proper sealing and restriction is important to how it runs), replacing the carb, repairing the rear motor mount, installing a new voltage regulator, repairing the main wiring harness, removing and draining the fuel tank and many many hours of testing and work to find out I had a bad spark plug! Once all that was done she was running like a champ! Perfect compression.

Pics of that later, all posted out for now! So, for those that give a shit I will update the thread here. Questions and comments are appreciated. I will do some polling on color combos and mods here soon. Thanks guys! :bootyshake:

  Knock knock?
Posted by: WREXTCY - 01-13-2014, 02:54 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (20)

I posted over in the new member section last week of my new car....

....have put about 1000 miles since I bought it, was driving to snowshoe yesterday when catastrophic failure happened about 20 minutes before we got there. I was just cruisin along at about 60-65, very light load on the engine. I then heard a clicking sound that very rapidly turned into a loud knock/slap, engine died, and I proceeded to yell many a profanity at the top of my lungs. Then had to get a 96 mile tow back through the mountains after we walked to the closest house and called AAA since we had no cell service.

All that being said, I figured I'd post here to get advice on a few options for what to do next, since I was told there are lots of subie guys round these parts. It also sucks since I had about $1200 of routine maintenance just done. My guess is a spun bearing or cracked ringland. First thing I'd like to do is have someone who is a guru come listen to it start it 1 more time to confirm my suspicions, then check the oil for metal. I haven't started looking into options yet but I have a few ideas in mind. One of my main questions is, have any of you around here built a boxer before, and does anyone know of a garage I can rent/store my car while the rebuild/swap happens? All help is greatly appreciated.

  Eyelids on the Ram?
Posted by: Jeff - 01-12-2014, 02:05 PM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (4)

So does MM like the idea of a set of eyelids on the Ram? I always thought they make it look a little meaner. They make them fiberglass that you paint or they make them as vinyl that probably won't match 100%. This is the truck now with the new cab lights.

[Image: 1521470_10101508630214829_1205315845_n.jpg]

I think these are the fiberglass variety lids.

Thinking eyelids and/of a different grille insert. Suggestions welcome.

  Ryan and my new wrx
Posted by: WREXTCY - 01-08-2014, 03:32 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (21)

My name is Ryan Kunde, I'm a junior Intelligence Analysis major. Used to be a music major until I got into this expensive hobby and wanted to get a job. Got into cars about 2 years ago, one day I just got the bug and suddenly was on forums 3-4 hours a day just researching everything that involved engines and racing. With that said I like it all; drag, rally, circut racing, stance, drifting, Formula 1, nascar. Mostly an import guy anything japanese for the most part, some euro, not too big on american cars, but I can respect anything built and fast.

Sold my honda at the end of thanksgiving break and have been looking around at wrxs since.

2002 WRX Sport Wagon 128k miles, all stock 1 previous owner

This was my honda, 2000 ex, jrsc w/ 8lb pulley, koni yellow/ground control

Then I got some sense in me and decided I needed not fwd, loved my honda, hated the honda scene.
