We're still a buncha' weeks away from this, but figured I'd start the usual thread of roll call, food discussion, and relentless nagging and shit-talking to get more students to come out and get rides or do a Hyperdrive.
When: March 21 (competition school, open practice), March 22-23 (full weekend of racing, TT and HPDE)
Where: VIR, aka the happiest place on Earth. About 2.5-3 hours from JMU
Event page on the NASA site is here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.nasaracing.net/?page_id=3244">http://www.nasaracing.net/?page_id=3244</a><!-- m -->
Hyperdrives are held that Saturday, are only $50 and a great way for current MM students to get out on track and run their car instead of their mouth  Make sure to register early to guarantee a spot. If you're feeling spendy, a full HPDE weekend (classroom and track driving with instructor) is about $400.
We can coordinate hotel floor space for students who want to come spend the weekend playing with cars and drinking free beer.
I'll be in TTD and running pace car per usual. Who's in?

The Meat thread has taken off pretty well, apparently we have a bunch of foodies amongst us. I know a good number of us alumni, and perhaps current students who are of age, are beer nerds, booze aficionados, or just high-functioning alcoholics who still have taste.
At any rate, I've been a pig in mud since moving to NOVA where the beer options are practically endless. I'm almost reluctant to buy the same six pack twice just because there's always something else to try. Here are some of my favorite discoveries from the past few years:
Daily Drivers:
Troegs Hopback
![[Image: troegs%2Bhopback.JPG]](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Gxnx7FkQcQs/S-OT4g3F9nI/AAAAAAAABso/zPbX6J-EBpE/s1600/troegs%2Bhopback.JPG)
Just fantastic. Possibly my favorite beer. Hoppy without succumbing to the "hops race" that has been ruining perfectly good IPAs lately. Just a nice clean amber ale with a malty base and a healthy dash of hop. Would probably be my desert island beer. The Troegs Pale Ale is good too with a more bitter hop flavor if you want something that has a bit more punch without stepping up to the hardcore IPAs.
Founders All Day IPA
![[Image: All-Day-IPA-6pack%2Bbottle_web.jpg]](http://cdn.foundersbrewing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/All-Day-IPA-6pack%2Bbottle_web.jpg)
The only beer that could challenge the Hopback for my desert island selection. Just a nice simple IPA with a strong, citrusy hop flavor that isn't overwhelming, and a 5% ABV that actually lets you drink a few of them on a hot summer afternoon without screwing up whatever you're doing. Hence the "All Day" thing.
Winter Favorites:
Samuel Smith Taddy Porter (5th from the right)
![[Image: 773752_10151448098876015_53117332_o.jpg]](https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t31/p180x540/773752_10151448098876015_53117332_o.jpg)
This stuff is expensive but worth picking up a bottle or two from Total Wine if you're even a passing fan of the Porter style. I think it's the best one I've ever had. Pitch black, heavy notes of coffee and chocolate. Very creamy mouthfeel and only gets better as the beer warms up a little bit.
Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (right-most, previous photo)
Also expensive but worth picking up a bottle, I've only seen it at Total Wine. Pours like used engine oil, strong roasted malt/nut flavor, the standard heavy hit of cocoa you'd expect from a good stout and a hint of dark-fruit sweetness. Very good beer.
Non Beerz:
Bogle Phantom:
![[Image: dFMto.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/dFMto.jpg)
Lauren usually heads up our wine drinking department but I'll occasionally dabble. This one particular blended wine has stuck out to me. It's only available in the fall and usually sells out by Thanksgiving time. I picked up a tip somewhere that while it's a very good wine right off the shelf, aging it for another year will put it in a "whole new class" whatever that means.
So I bought a few bottles and tried it, and son of a bitch if it wasn't amazing. I couldn't even try to give tasting notes because I know jack shit about wine, but I'd recommend grabbing a bottle to bring to your Thanksgiving table next year. I've started an annual tradition of buying 3 or 4 bottles a year and spreading them out over the following year's special occasions.
Blanton's Single Barrel
![[Image: B_original.png]](https://www.blantonsbourbon.com/sites/all/themes/blantons/images/B_original.png)
Nectar of the gods. Hands down my favorite sipping bourbon. Best kept secret is 2 of these little 375ml's is actually a bit cheaper than 1 750ml. No idea why, but I'm not complaining.
Now I'm ready to start tucking into some spring seasonals. I've already gone through a pack of the Bells Smitten Golden Rye Ale which is a great beer to pretend it's not still miserably winter outside, and I'm anxiously awaiting the April release of the Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout so I can finally try it. Availability is insanely limited and I keep missing it.

Hey all. Was just talking to Sam about having a possible cruise on the Saturday the 22nd of February. Of course this will be weather dependent and we can easily cancel or move the date if necessary. This will be the standard cruise through the mountainous 33 with all the twisty turns you will need.
Start Time: 2:30? (WE ARE LEAVING AT THIS TIME)
BE THERE 2:15 PLEASE.
Where to meet you ask? Baseball Lot of R1 I say.
Rides will be assorted at the baseball as necessary. I encourage all Freshmen to come out and have some fun with us. Even if you don't have a car there will plenty of sweet rides you can shotgun
I SAY THAT AGAIN FRESHMEN COME OUT AND JOIN. You'll be hating yourself to miss out.
People who want to come so far:
Me - Ryan
Jake (2 cramped seats left in back)
Matthew (shotgun with Jake)
Taylor (Probably not driving)
Pierce (one shotgun, two cramped seats left in back)
Scott (two cramped seats left in back)
m3lover453 - Anthony
Dave
01AUDIS4 - Lincoln (3 left?)
little baby jesus - Chris
Dan?-Not in MM
Nick
Possibly:
Dan
fiveoh
cobra
slim
Garrett
Who else is in?
Let me know of anything to add! Thanks

Hey guys, weather is looking up to par on tuesday with some low temps and clear skies. As we know tuesday is assessment day so I figured why not take a nice new years cruise up to skyline or even 33. We could also get some cool new pics for this "calendar idea" since this low pressure system will be moving out allowing for blue bird skies. I am more than happy to carry a passenger or two. It be nice to get some of you freshmen out there (like I said 1-2 in my car) and hopefully everyone else with a vehicle. I will be going regardless so let me know what people think or if you would like to join let me know

Alright guys, something good came out of our resident handsome man, Chris Lacey being on JMU crushes.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.facebook.com/JmuCrushes/posts/591915834226470?stream_ref=5">https://www.facebook.com/JmuCrushes/pos ... ream_ref=5</a><!-- m -->
Samantha suggested we make a calender with our cars. Has this ever been done?
Shouldn't be hard to make and we could sell them. Now I'm sure we'll have to make one for next year since it's already late... or something.
We could group everyone together, so Bimmers on one month, offroad vehicles on a another, mustangs, GM people, etc.
The cover could be the whole club together in on big fisheye view.
Of course Alums would be welcome and needed to make this happen.
What do you guys think ?

I've noticed that the officers from last year are still listed in those positions instead of the numbers showing their years and the current officers aren't listed.
If any of the newer members ever find their way onto the forums... they might be confused by this? Also, it just bothers me. :vomit:
