Yeah, I know I made the "random events" thread, but this was a little bit more special to me than the usual C&C. Yesterday Matt (fiveoh2go) and I went up to Carlisle, PA for the 2014 Ford Nationals which promised to be quite an event due to not only the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, but the unveiling of the four FIA GT1 Matech Racing Ford GTs. And it definitely didn't disappoint.

We saw the '15 Mustang for about three seconds as it made it's way through the crowd to the main stage, but I was too focused on the GTs to really mind - the owners of the street/race versions were all very accommodating and let me put my paws all over them. I've long said it'd be the first car I'd buy if I hit the lotto, but this was only the second time (first was at this show a few years ago) I've been up close to one - and only one would've been cool, but having about six street cars and 4 race versions to play with was pretty incredible.

I doubt anyone here is interested, but perhaps your neighbor/parents/whoever is. The camper is at my parents in blue ridge right now, but I could pretty much drop it off anywhere between west virginia and their house if someone really needed me to. this is your chance to experience rallyx on the best course you're probably ever going to see. its put on by the Tarheel Sports Car Club for the first time, and the preliminary course they're trying out is 3 minutes long, which is basically an eternity as far as autocross-like events go. terrain looks like cut grass, hardpack, and some bumpy loose dirt. i don't think there are any harsh rocks to worry about, since its a training site for the gov't and they probably don't want to destroy their equipment on a regular basis.

expect at least 6 runs (3 morning, 3 afternoon) and possibly up to 8 with fun runs. entry fee TBD but probably ~ $35. you'll want about 4-5 inches of ground clearance minimum and all seasons or at least tires with more than a 35 series sidewall.

Hey everyone. One of my friends is selling an 01 Cherokee, the last year of the coveted XJ platform. He's trying to get rid of it quick, so I offered to put it here. This is just about the go-to for anyone looking to get into off-roading. Just ask any MMer besides me. I'm the only one not using a Jeep. Parts are cheap, lifting it is easy, it's the Miata of 4x4s.

I'd say it's in good condition. Stock height. Has 31x10.5s on it so not much suspension travel until it's lifted.

He's asking $3500 for it.

I've brought this up earlier, after giving up the Evo I will be taking my brother's car. He's picking up his new car this Friday (CLA AMG) but luckily I've been able to take the GTI before he does so.

I was able to get it from him for a good price, and since it's family, without any messy paperwork. It's a 2010 (DSG) and he had it modified to APR stage II so it has exhaust and intake done; all the work was done by an APR shop. It's only just rolled past 31K miles, interior is immaculate but the exterior is a bit rough. It was a city car so it has a couple scratches and small sideswipe mark on the back passenger side door.

The absolute best part of this car, is that my brother purchased an extended warranty that is good for another 3 years :thumbup:

- Actually enjoy the car, do some autox's and tinker on it like I've always wanted. Hopefully get to learn some more.
- Re-tint the front windows. He had to remove them since he was in the city and got four tickets. I feel like I'm in a fishbowl
- Look into getting the sideswipe mark dealt with/full detail
- Car already has a good set of wheels with 245 wide tires, but want to see what else I can do to improve handling. perhaps front and rear sway bars to start
- Want to look into if it's possible to add keyless entry (or whatever you call it) like I had on the old car. Taking out keys seems so annoying to me now. If nothing else, add remote start.
- Maybe add a small subwoofer. The Dynaudio seems pretty solid, but lacks some low end from what I am used to.

That's pretty much it for now. Looking forward to this actually being a project where I can do real updates.

So, I've been trying heel toe more and more lately because it is a good driving technique to have. Well my issue is my heel loves to hit my floor mats and mets things up and to do it right I really have to concentrate on lifting my foot, distracting me among other things instead of it coming naturally. Not sure if pedals too low or floor mat is the issue. Will have to test without floor mats.

If this doesn't persist what is easy ways to fix the problem I'm having? I find moving my foot up the brake pedal for initial braking feels quite awkward.

I can't remember if I posted this before, but can't seem to find it from searching. Basically I'm looking for an in-dash for the 4runner for two main reasons -- 1. backup camera for trailer 2. bluetooth streaming from my iPhone for spotify/GPS

That being said and hoping that it's clear I'm not some audiophile, does any have recommendations on what in-dash units would be good to look into? I don't mind buying the last year model, etc just as long as it has the features I need. Seems like most people lean towards Pioneer brand stuff, but I'm open to suggestions.
