Mpact Motorsports Festival July 12th Pocono Raceway
Posted by: Nate the Great - 06-29-2014, 11:41 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (1)

Calling all BMW and Supercar ethusiasts! This year's Mpact festival will be held at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA from 7am-7pm on July 12th. This should be huge being that its within a close range of the Philly, Pittsburgh, NYC, Baltimore and DC/NOVA regions. 8) If anyone else is going book a hotel now. Hotels are already booked within the immediate vicinity, so the only opportunities now lie about 20 miles down the road.

  WTB: Miata on the Cheap
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 06-29-2014, 12:33 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (19)

Hey everyone. My fin-aid notice came in and I'm all set for this next year.

I'm not desperate to buy it soon, but all I want is everyone to keep a look out for any killer deals on a Miata. I don't care what years, engine type, etc. As long as it's a 5 speed.

Hopefully under $1500 and not completely awful condition. Dents are okay, and I'd rather have a roof that isn't leaking.

If you spot any really good deals, send them my way. I'm looking at one right now, but if this falls through, I wouldn't mind having some options.

I probably won't be driving it until next year in the spring, but if a good deal comes, there's no need to pass up on it.

Got it from my dad, who I think used it like once 10 years ago. An HJC, not sure which model, that hasn't been dropped or anything and looks perfect, he just hasn't used it and it's taking up space. Comes with the bag, face shield (installed), and visor. It's an XXL so you'll need a big dome for it to fit.
$30?

  Bluetooth Stereo options
Posted by: HAULN-SS - 06-26-2014, 03:07 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (2)

Does anyone know if they make such a thing as a 'standalone' head unit that can be completely remote controlled from a bluetooth phone? I want to upgrade the stereo in my SS, but I hate the look of those single-din space filling adapters, etc. Nothing will ever look factory in there. I'd like to get a head unit that I can mount somewhere else, that can be controlled from a phone or remote or something to play my bluetooth tunes. I'd prefer to not just buy a unit made for the dash and mount somewhere, but I may have to go that route.

Star City Motor Madness in Roanoke June 27-28
Posted by: Nate the Great - 06-25-2014, 07:33 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (3)

Hey y'all. The biggest car show in western VA is this weekend. Star City Motor Madness in downtown Roanoke. The cruise in is this Friday from 6-8 on Williamson Road and the Car show is this Saturday 10-4. Wide variety of vehicles particularly American classics and hot rods covering about 6-8 city blocks. Every year seems to have something different. In 2011 the Ghostbusters Car, 60's Batmobile, Starsky and Hutch Car and General Lee were all there. Last year they had a selection of euro race cars from the 60's-70s including Ferraris. I will probably be down for the car show on Saturday.

  What's your fantasy car?!

Stole this from Reddit. Thought it would be good here. You can see mine below.

Body: Designed by Pininfarina - something with a nice low roofline.

Type: 4 door hatchback (yes, a hatchback with a nice low roofline, i never said it was meant to be practical)

Engine: Turbo Diesel V8

Drivetrain: AWD

Transmission: ZF 6 Speed Manual

Suspension: Something made by the ///M division

Interior: Leather, glass, carbon fiber, bucket seats in color options of red, grey or black. No crazy tech options, just a radio + bluetooth and a small screen for weather + traffic updates. A/C Heat ofcourse.

Wheels: Something made by BBS. Not mesh though.

Extras? ABS, traction control...naaahhhhh

TECHNICALLY the post from reddit says "If you were starting a car company what would your first car be like?". You can let your imagination go wilder when it's a fantasy car

F150 studder under load. 1300rpm exactly.
Posted by: Sully - 06-24-2014, 04:55 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (8)

My 2001 F150 with the 5.4L with 60k on the clock had developed a rough running condition under certain engine load. I had the same problem a few years ago and turned out to be a coil which I replaced and solved problem. It threw a code then though but now it will not. I have replaced plugs and pulled all the coils and bench tested their resistance. Idk what spec is but they were all pretty much right on each other (and the one new one i purchased) except for the one I replace last time which was a tad higher so I replaced it with the new one and saved it in case it wasn't really bad.

Replacing the plugs seemed to hide the problem slightly for a few drives and the new coil might have done the same but it still feels like it misses every once in awhile.

Fyi, i cant do the pull the wire while running thing because it doesn't do it at idle or all the time. Just enough to be irritating and slightly concerning.

I guess next step would be compression test? Just for the hell of it.

Maybe test for a vacuum leak?

Could it be a fuel delivery problem? Not sure when it had the fuel filter replaced if ever so I guess that's on my short list to do.

Would some injector cleaner be worth a try or is that stuff a waste of time?

WTB: Ford Ranger / Mazda B Series
Posted by: TorinoCobra070 - 06-18-2014, 07:29 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (9)

Well I sold my Bronco 2.5 years ago and I really miss DD'ing a truck. However, I do not miss the gas mileage of a Bronco.

So, here is what I'm looking for (to be used as my new daily driver):

Price range is $3,000-$4,000

any year / motor (prefer the 3.0 or 4.0) / transmission - Ranger or B series as long as it meets the following requirements (no exceptions):

extended cab

4x4

current VA inspection

clean title

Not interested in anything that "needs work" or is "almost ready to pass inspection". I have found a few I really like already but they keep getting sold before I even get a shot at them, so any leads are appreciated.

Thanks  :dunno:
