Classics on the Green (Richmond) Sept 14th
Posted by: JustinG - 08-13-2014, 01:03 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (3)

Casey and I are planning to head out to this.

Sept 14th, 11am-4pm at New Kent Winery.

I went a few times when it was on Browns Island downtown but haven't been since they moved out to New Kent Winery.

Usually a large showing of classic/new exotics, each year they "Feature" a specific make. This year I think it is Ferrari.

$25 includes admission/wine tasting, or $10 just for entry. Kids under 12 = Free

Should be a good time, let me know if you are gonna go.

"home false sense of security" :P

Apoc Wrote:Maybe we should create a security/home automation thread and move this stuff there? I'd like to track progress/opinions independent of killing bad guys.

Cary on.

davej Wrote:I've been kicking around the idea of cameras, but ones that are real. Anyone have experiences to share? Took a quick look at a couple but they are wired, not real interested in running coax all over the house. Hoping to find a decent wifi system with remote viewing

Evan Wrote:I have 2 HD foscams , 2 SD foscams , and 4 Dlink SD cameras.

I like the Dlinks the best by far. They have great zero config cloud integration that doesnt require port forwarding, so remote viewing is much easier. they also come up in the viewer instantly.

The HD foscams are sharper, and have 2 way audio, so they make for good babycams, but are much slower and laggy to come up, and a pain in the dick to set for remote viewing.

I havent even bothered to hook up any of the foscams at my new place.

when my new zigbee/zwave box gets here, Im going to set up some automated video record actions when someone comes home, knocks on door, etc.

navin Wrote:There is also "DropCam" version of cameras -- seems pretty user friendly, but kind of sucks you have to pay for the cloud back-up for backing up video.

I need to do some more research, but I want something like the Drop-Cam, but with the ability to back to my Network attached storage.

ps. Be sure to lock down your FosCam's, lots of security vulnerabilities out there for it.

edit -- specifically looking for an outdoor camera.

FS: 04 STi OEM silver BBS wheels
Posted by: Maengelito - 08-12-2014, 10:04 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (5)

Hey everyone
I sold my Fozzy XT so its time for me to sell the wheels as well. I've got a set of the highly sought after silver BBS wheels from a 2004 STi with Falken ZIEX 912 all season tires on them (225/55/17, if I recall correctly). They're one of the better all season compounds and have about 2/3 tread life left.

The wheels themselves are in good (but not mint) condition. There are no bends, just a couple of curb marks and a couple of scuffs. Please see the pics in the link below.

$900 MM price for all 4 wheels/tires. Located in Charlottesville, VA. No trades.

  Annual Fall Kline's Meet
Posted by: rherold9 - 08-10-2014, 11:22 AM - Forum: Campus Events - Replies (16)

Just to get this event information out early as I said I would as VP. Our annual Fall Kline's meet will take place on Monday, September 1st. We will be meeting on the Showker Deck around 7:30pm and will leave by 8pm to head to Kline's. Please arrive sometime between then.

We will be chatting and doing a few ice breakers to get to know the newer people to the club. We will also be assigning and trying our our 'buddy' system so people can contact and talk to someone when needed. We want to get a stronger club appearance through the entire year not just for the first few events so I think this 'buddy' system will help out a bit with that problem.

Let's try to get more pictures of everyone and their cars this year? I know Scott has his drone with the GoPro but close up pictures would be nice. Hope to see you all out there.

  Tony Stewart Kills Driver

Tony Stewart bumps a 20 year old driver in a dirt track race in upstate NY. The driver gets out on a live track and is rundown by Stewart.

Anyone else want to go? I know it is a bit last minute but didn't know I was probably getting off work.

  Project: B7 A4 Avant
Posted by: .RJ - 08-04-2014, 07:56 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (328)

So, I bought a new car.... I'm bored with the Ridgeline after 5+ years so time to do something else - something smaller to drive, reasonably fast, with 3 pedals and still had some utility - so really, the choices get narrowed down pretty quickly, I think the only cars under serious consideration were a WRX wagon and an Audi avant.... given my affliction for german cars, it was a no, brainer.

I casually looked at autotrader/ebay/etc for a few months not really expecting to buy anything but then a car came up for sale and I couldnt ignore it. Its an '06 avant, with s-line & titanium packages, no factory nav. It was a CPO car when the seller bought it, and he took really nice care of it.

It already has a few tasteful mods that I'd probably do anyways - APR ECU, Stasis exhaust & short shifter. The short shifter is really, really nice - I'm surprised. I need to order a hitch & bike rack this week, and will probably buy some Koni FSD shocks soon. I dont know that it needs much else (bring on the CEL jokes) until I get bored and buy a K04 kit.

  FS: RX7 Chump Car
Posted by: D_Eclipse9916 - 08-04-2014, 11:21 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (4)

With a move of one of our teammates to Florida (we are located in Northern Virginia), another teammate buying a house, and the final teammate (me) trying to refocus priorities; we are looking to sell our Chump Car RX7.

This particular RX7 has a "fresh" (used) motor in it that does not consume anything (but the usual oil that we premeasure and put in the fuel as per typical for a rotary). It comes fully caged/harnessed/seat/kill swithch/fire bottle and everything ready to go. It already has the prerequisite number panels and lighting for night enduros. It is on tokico shocks and eibach springs with camber plates. Extremely easy on tires. Only gone through one set in 3 races with chump car, same with the brakes. Did I mention we have 3 sets of wheels/tires for it, tons of spare parts, including 2 spare motors we picked up (one unknown, one drinks a bit of coolant), good transmission, spare rotors/pads/plugs/maf/basically another car.
Includes open differential but currently has a welded LSD in the back. Car runs great, but logistics are a bit harder now, so we decided to see how things go selling her. As far as cooling, the car runs extremely well, we have a massive radiator and a good oil cooler with fresh lines on it. Car is ran around every couple of weeks to ensure everything runs smoothly.

This is "come pick it up and race next weekend" shape. It was always garaged and then transported in an enclosed trailer. Currently in a garage in Manassas, VA at one of our teammates home. Feel free to contact me at Fitzpadj at gmail
