The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread
Posted by: Goodspeed - 05-18-2014, 02:01 PM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (102)

Rather than clutter the H&B'ed thread, I figured I'd start a separate one for snaps taken at C&C and other random events that people can post in. Just about every other weekend I'm out at one of the NoVA C&C's, and I'll probably attend more often once I have another fun car so I'll be putting a bunch of shots in here. I'm still a rank amateur behind the lens but I'm looking to improve - the more events I attend, the more practice I get.

Anyways, I went to the Fair Lakes C&C this morning - perfect weather, and a great assortment of cars. I met my old Miata's near-doppelganger, owned by a guy who lives probably half a mile from me funnily enough. He had actually contacted me about buying mine last year just after it sold, so he knew who I was and showed me a bunch of similar mods he had done which was pretty awesome. Hit me right in the feels as I miss that car.

Also of note is the yellow Lotus Sport Elise (Evan, I can't recall which wheels you bought for your Exige, but I thought you might appreciate seeing these), and the stock, 52k-mile TT 6-speed Supra. I chatted with the owner who has had it for 9 years, a total creampuff example that is actually for sale. Subtract a few grand from the mileage and you've arrived at the price. The VW Type 3 had a WRX EJ25 I believe, and had a big crowd around it almost the whole time.

Sh*t Your Pants Behind The Wheel?
Posted by: *insertusernamehere* - 05-13-2014, 05:27 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (35)

So I was in a long car ride with my family over the weekend and my mom brought up some questions about driving that I thought would be perfect for a bunch of car guys!

So mah mommah asked us "biggest fear behind the wheel?" and "scariest dream behind the wheel?". A good twist to add since everyone here is so much more seasoned is "biggest fear behind the wheel on track?" and "scariest thing to happen thus far to you behind the wheel?" (on street/track)

OKAY. READY. SET. GO!

Waynesboro, VA Motorsports Car Show Today 9-3
Posted by: Nate the Great - 05-10-2014, 01:24 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (1)

Waynesboro Motorsports is having a decent sized car show downtown today from 9-3. There is usually a fair amount of diversity with this car show euro, muscle, american classic, bikes, and ATV. Should be cool if its a washout they will hold the show on the 11th.

  Dyno Day!

Me (Ryan), Stephen Turner, and Chad Rhodes are going to get our cars on the dyno sometime next week in the evening or next Saturday the 17th at Valley Dyno Service down by Elkton. I was wondering if anyone would like to join to try to get a group discount going and what day or time works best for you. Post up a comment if you want to come and what works best for you!

HYPERFIZZLE FO SHIZZLE! NASA at Summit Point: June 6-8
Posted by: JustinG - 05-05-2014, 03:44 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (274)

Never to early to post up about this event.

IF YOU WERE GOING TO MAKE IT OUT TO ONE NASA EVENT ALL YEAR, it would be HYPERFEST.

Each driver (racers, instructors, HPDE entrants, Time Trial entrants) will get themselves and one free crew member. All other crew and guests must pay gate fee.

If you can't get in as a crew member/worker it is $20 early bird (Online) or $25 at the gate. $5 for parking, unless you have a paddock pass.

Rex, Jake? and I are official hyperfest bitchezzzzz per the usual.

Who else is in?

  2014 Moto Track Day List
Posted by: G.Irish - 05-04-2014, 12:36 PM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (4)

Here's a list of track days in the immediate vicinity for 2014. Summit, Pitt Race(Beaverun), NJMP, and VIR. I usually run with NESBA or Team Promotion, will probably do the same this year (NESBA is now N2). Will probably also do the Cali SBK School at VIR in August.

  New t-shirt design.
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 05-01-2014, 03:19 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (459)

Hey guys! I'm the new Secretary/PR officer and the first thing I wanted to do was make a new shirt design to get people around campus to know that we're an actual JMU club.

This post is for the alums to approve because we don't want to do anything like this wasn't making sure it sticks to the traditions of MM. At the meeting last night, we spend probably an hour as a group voting/creating a new design.

In this design we wanted to do a couple things:
- Keep the MM logo
- Show case that we are an actual JMU club
- Have a design that also reflected out motorsports agenda

Now, please, be open minded. All of the current members really like this new design and we feel it'll be a good thing to finally have a shirt that is similar to all of the other club shirts so that people notice we are a club easily, but also VERY unique.

The things on the right are tires, and the things behind the logo are tire marks. This is a rough sketch, but I should have an actual rendering soon.

We'll be using this as the logo part
