  Spectator Event Poll

This year I have enough frequent flyer miles to go pretty much anywhere in the world. So I decided I'd go to Japan in October for a week so I could catch WRC Japan and F1 at Suzuka since those two races happen to be on back to back weekends in Japan. But...now that I'm starting to research actually getting out there I'm beginning to see its going to be a real challenge getting out there.

Issues:
*Language
*No hotel vacancies withing 45 minutes of the track for F1
*WRC and F1 are on different islands of Japan
*Traffic is horrendous in Japan

Now, I could alternately go to Europe and catch a combination of events too.

*27 Aug British Touring Car@Knockhill & 3 Sept F1@Monza
*2 Oct World Touring Car@Valencia & 10 Oct F1@Spa
*2 Oct World Touring Car@Valencia & WSBK@Imola
*11 Sept WSBK@Lausitzring & 16 Sept Rally Great Britain
*10 Oct F1@Spa & 16 Sept Rally GB

Issues:
*Having to learn a bit of more than one language. I can speak fair Spanish so the WTCC dates or the BTCC trip wouldn't be too hard

I dunno, I guess I'm partial to Japan because I want to visit Tokyo and buy a whole lot of rare JDM bling (bonus points if anyone can find a picture of the STi Gauge cluster clock). Then there's the Honda museum and all of the OG ricer shops to hit up.

Thoughts???

Does anyone have a good list of things to check or replace before starting autox season?

  Sway Bar End-Link Replacement
Posted by: ViPER1313 - 03-01-2005, 01:52 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (3)

Well, I finally got around to replacing the end links on my SHO this weekend, and the difference between the old and the new is dramatic. The car used to plow like a cow before, now it only plows like a calf  . If the end links on your car look like the ones on mine did, it is definitely worth the time and money to replace them. Replacement procedure on the SHO -

1. Jack up front of car.
2. Remove front wheels.
3. Remove 2 nuts holding the old end link in place - 1 connecting it to the strut tower and one connecting it to the sway bar. To keep the stud extending from the end-link from spinning you have to use an open-ended wrench to turn the nut while holding the stud still. On my original end-links you can hold the stud still with an 8mm socket (or hex bit in the case of the new end-links) - my first socket didn't fare too well (pics below.) This step will require PBlaster, hammers, and lots of cursing.
4. Wrestle new end link into place and tighten 2 new nuts, making sure not to twist the boot while tightening.
5. Reinstall wheels
6. Lower car

Total install time - 30min (if lucky) to 1hr - very cheap and easy to do and gives noticeable handling improvements.
