Workers for NASA June 11, 12 (Shenandoah)
Posted by: NASAlaura - 05-24-2005, 10:14 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (14)

NASA hopes to see you at Shenandoah/Summit Point on June 11, 12.
As always, we can use as many corner flaggers as possible, and we will pay $75 to trained workers. Once you commit to flagging, you cannot back out since we will be depending on your presence for the event to run.

We can also use 4 other regular workers fulfilling a variety of responsibilities. (Grid, timing and scoring, tech, registration, etc.) These workers will receive credits toward a future driving event (2 weekends worked = one weekend of driving).

Peter Denbeigh has e-mailed me to say he will take one of the positions. If you want to work please post here, but also e-mail me at laura@nasaracing.net with your contact info (phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.)

Thanks!
Laura Cobetto

so, i started a new job today. nothing special. only thing i could find, but it will do until i find something better. it's with Crown Decorative Concrete. small, small local business. so i meet up with them at a job site today around 11AM. since it was supposed to rain in the morning, they waited to start and then were going to try and finish up a job before the evening rain came. so i'm talking with the owner, he's asking questions. things like do i like where i live at Avalon Woods, where the girlfriend works, etc. so i was telling him about her working as a Med Tech at RMH and he was telling me about how he knows RMH well. seems he gets hurt a lot. well after having issues with the porch we were working on, finally it's break time. so i start home for a 45min break, i'm almost there and BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ, my phone goes off. it's my Boss's wife.

her>"hey, where are you?"
me> "i'm almost home"
her> "well it seems Art has dislocated his shoulder"
me> "uhmm...okay"
her> "could you go back and get him and take him to the hospital?"

not sure what he was doing, but it had something to do with the bed cap on his truck and the struts for the door not working. somehow he knocked that left shoulder right out of socket. every bump on the way there i heard him go OOWWW OOWWW.

first day of work, i spend at least an hour in the ER because my clumsy Boss.

 tire review: hankook ventus rs2
Posted by: Maengelito - 05-23-2005, 09:04 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (17)

so RJ suckered me into being his guinea pig for these new tires. i picked up a set of 235/40/17 hankook ventus rs2's for my subaru and in my very scientific tests of going on off/on ramps and in the rain today, i love them. they grip very well and are very predictable. now i havent autoxed with them yet but in the dry, they are excellent. in the wet today, they did great at full throttle on an onramp. like i said, not the most scientific tests, but they grip as well if not better than my potenza re070's (stock on the sti) and i'd say as well as the azenis on my integra (i know, not the same car, but they still stick)

It was a write up I did for their tech forum about upgrading to cobra brakes. Ken (the site owner) put it up on his 'resources' page.

Pete, be sure to check out the 'Bio' (click on my name next to the pic of my car).

For Sale: 4 17X7.5 Moda M1's with tires
Posted by: ScottyB - 05-22-2005, 11:52 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (21)

as title says....4 Moda (made by BBS) M1 17x7.5 rims with tires, for sale CHEAP. the trusty accord is on its way out, and i want these things gone from my already cramped basement.

specs:

material - cast i think, of what....i don't know (aluminum?)
bolt pattern - 4x114.3 (weird ass accord bolt pattern)
offset - unsure, probably 35. the rim sticks out maybe 2mm or so from under the fender on the front hubs of my '01 accord.
weight - unsure...probably 19 or 20 pounds apeice w/o tire. info on these admittedly old school rims is scarce and difficult to find.
tires - michelin pilot sport MXX3's in 205/50-17. the tires are very worn, have maybe 2-4000 miles left in them, or probably 2 good autocrosses.

the wheels are in decent shape and have center caps (2 of the caps are kinda beat up). two rims have a ding on the outside edge, and i believe all of them have mild to very mild curb rash, although the integrity and air-holding ability of the rims are fine....strictly cosmetic damage. the valve stems are metal and seem to be high quality. the wheels are were balanced for the tires about 8,000 miles ago and ride flawlessly. the rims were always cleaned well, on the outer and inner part of the rim.

shoot me an offer. for an MM'er, i'll let em go for next to nothing. rims/tires are in roanoke, i really don't want to drive anywhere to sell them....

PICS WILL BE UP TOMMOROW (Feersty)
