I'm not one, but this was still pretty funny. I guess when you don't have a job (Chelios) you get to make funny little videos!

Heres my dirty engine bay just before it all began.

The nuts on the cat has seized up pretty well, so I had to cut it off. Here is jay helping out with that.

And everything tossed around my driveway

engine hoist hooked up. We ended up just wraping it around the IM, and using a hook on the other side.

Engine lowered

Cars up high enough to move the motor out

Here is one of Travis, dunno what to say about this one

Heres a shot of the old clutch and flywheel. How old you say? 14 years and about 166,000 miles.

And a shot from today with the engine and tranny finally in. Nothings connected yet unfortunatly

  Moving back to NoVa
Posted by: .RJ - 05-18-2005, 10:12 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (59)

Alright here's the deal - I'm "officially" moving back hopefully in 2 weeks, i.e. memorial day weekend - assuming I've found a place to stay by then to move my stuff into.

Anyone free that weekend want to go down to atlanta, help me load up a truck and drive back to Nova? Not sure what I can compensate you with, other than guaranteed jackassery, box truck burnouts, and a cooler full of 24oz PBR's as soon as we hit the NC state line.

On another note, I am now employed Confusedhock: working for Mirocpact in Herndon, Va. They're a small software development company (about 50 people) that cater to government agencies - so far, I like it, and the company is growing pretty quickly in both sales volume and staff size. I'll be doing a lot of functional/analyst work there (documentation, support, testing, keeping clients happy, etc).

There will be a cookout and many beers once I am settled in, along with project "burn down another Integra" (take 3).

CarGuys at Summit/Shenandoah Memorial day weekend

Anyone else going? I know carguys events arent as popular with the club as NASA events, but I was curious if anyone was coming to drive, flag, hang out, etc.

  Clutch button thingie?
Posted by: Mike - 05-18-2005, 09:34 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (8)

So i finally got out the tools today in an effort to find out why my radio gets static whenever I use the clutch. I disconnected the antenna wire and sure enough, no more static, but no more reception either. Good, I had located the issue... Something with the antenna and clutch. Interference caused by dis/engagement? Sounds silly. Instead, I traced the antenna through the dash to where it comes closest to the clutch pedal, moved it far away, reattached to stereo, still static. Weird.

I then tried a multitude of other things and finally found the source of the static... A little button above the clutch pedal that is pushed in when the clutch is fully disengaged. Long story short, I put tape over this button so it no longer moves except for the tiniest bit (necessary to turn the car on). My question - what would happen if I cut the wires or pulled the plug on this sensor? Would the car not turn on? Or would it always think the car was ok to turn on?

On second thought, I could just bend the bracket for this button so it is always in the position of thinking the clutch is disengaged (will turn on).

Anyone ever mess with these?
