rather late 4th of july thread with some pics
Posted by: ScottyB - 07-06-2005, 11:11 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (9)

went to my almost-sister-in-laws place on monday for some 4th o' july festivities (i'll see if i can't bring you and Jess along next year Chan). the neighborhood has a park in the middle of it, which they launch the fireworks from every year. it rained right before it got dark so we were pretty bummed, thinking they would cancel. but being the champions they are, the fireworks pyros kept the show alive and it was really impressive.

 for sitting out in the street with a lawnchair, watching kickass fireworks on a cool evening with atlanta's finest sweetwater porter in hand.

thought these first two pictures were pretty cool. the first one i stumbled across by accident, if anyone wants the wallpaper lemme know and i'll send it. the second on i took in my apartment complex, the last 3 are the show

edit: to clear up any confusion, i did not take the first picture, it was a wallpaper i found, and it was coincidental that it was patriotic

Open Letter to the Hooters in Peoria, Illinois
Posted by: CaptainHenreh - 07-06-2005, 10:00 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (14)

Ladies,

I understand that two in the afternoon on a random Tuesday probably isn't you're most popular shift, and I understand that those people working such a shift might not be the most excited individuals about working it.

However, I would like to clarify a few things.

#1, Your spinal column, no matter what Cosmopolitan or whatever shit you read these days might tell you, is not in any way sexy. I do not want to see, under any circumstances, your individual vertebrae.

#2, Eat a sandwich. Seriously. You look like a white Sudanese refugee. If I took a stick, put a sock on it, and made the stick magically come to life, it would probably say something along the lines of "Damn, bitch! You ass is skinny!" Also, see #1. You look like a malnourished bullfrog in orange daisy dukes.

#3, When my eyes are glued to MotoGP and my buffalo chicken sandwich is half eaten in my hands, yes, everything is just fine. You can go away. What I want to see is Rossi take a loss through a turn so someone else can win for a change, I do not want to see your skinny ass attempting (in vain) to shove your non-existant mammaries in my face. Maybe that works for the Caterpillar engineers, but don't get between me and the TV. At least stand to the side so I can more comfortably ignore you.

#4, No, I don't want any cheesecake. But, I'll buy an entire cheesecake if you stand here and eat it in front of me.

#5, Change your hotness scale. Instead of mild, medium, and hot; maybe changey them to Change of Color, Way to be a Pussy, and Maybe a Little Flavor (If You're Lucky).

I should have gone to Bennigans.

  97 DX HB
Posted by: damnit458 - 07-05-2005, 10:47 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (22)

Hey, im wondering as to how much you guys would offer for a 97 DX HB with 160k miles. Car runs fine. Only cosmetic damage is one dent on a side door and some scratches on the side of the bumper.

This car was posted on CL this morning.

Im curious as to how much you guys would offer? He said 2700 OBO, and the KBB is about $1000 more than that, altho I know how much I and others hate KBB as a value estimator.

How much would you offer?

Edit: This is assuming the car is as he says. Carfax is clean

GONE!

.

.
.
.
just kidding of course.
RJ, Lorena and I spent the last 2 days pulling out the old sorta-busted lump and transferring the stuff to a new one

new* engine in foreground, old one in background

another shot
[Image: old_and_new2_650.jpg]

and the obilgatory "standing in the engine bay" shot
[Image: standing_in_engine_650.jpg]

mucho thanks to RJ and Lorena for helping out, and thanks to G for the engine hoist (and for the entertainment while watching him try to put it together)

*by "new", I mean 100k mile junkyard motor out of a wrecked car. hopefully less busted than the one in there now. If its not, that would be awesome.

Car #2

For Sale: 1988 Toyota Celica Alltrac Turbo Open class Rally car (needs work)

DMS 50mm dampers

SCCA logbook
Electromotive ignition, ECU

The engine in this car has either spun a bearing or broken a rod. The engine runs but makes a lot of noise.
