UPDATE
Evan has a wedding to go to Sat so we're going to meet up in Chinatown around 11 or so for some fun. Drunken DC Debauchery. Chime in if you're able to come and we'll pick a place to all meet up at.

Brand new still in plastic wrap. My mom bought it through amazon, but my brother needed to get it when he went to the bookstore. He couldn't wait for it to be delivered.

  MM VegASS Trip
Posted by: G.Irish - 08-04-2005, 01:05 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (25)

Ok, I've been talking about this for some time now, but the time has come for us to get the ball(s) rolling.

I want to do a MM trip out to Las Vegas on Columbus Day weekend (October 8-10). I can guarantee that if we can get a good group together it will be one of the most awesome weekends of your life, or at least it'll be memorable.

Airfare will run about $230-250 roundtrip (on United, American, etc). On hotel I may be able to get a hookup on a room or two from a friend who lives in LA now. If we can't swing that we have a few options:

El Cheapo:
We could stay in a hotel downtown (Old VegASS) for pretty cheap like Binions Horseshoe or whatever. That will run about $60-75 for the weekend based on 3 to a room or $90-120 based on 2 to a room. The advantage of a cheap hotel is more money to gamble, party, rent Ferraris . Besides, Vegas has a small rail system now, and parking at all of the Casinos is free.

Big Pimpin:
We could stay on the strip for about $150-200 for the weekend per person (based on 3 people). Its pretty damned cool to stay on the strip if you'd like to really live it up. And we could totally eschew cars in that case.

I'm going the buy my airfare on Monday and I'll be checking on the hotel deal before then as well. Discuss! Feel free to ask any questions about some travel tricks or Vegas itself. I've been there 3 times and I think several others have been there a couple of times too.

tossed the new lip on. her insurance is dragging their feet and i was tired of it sitting around in a box. it's fresh paint from honda so it doesn't match the front bumper (after 4 years) all that well, but i assume it'll get cruddy looking too or when they repaint the bumper it'll match. hard to tell unless you're really looking for it though.

John Hopkins had a hard high at the Moto GP race last weekend at Saschenring.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jeffhelms.com/media/videos/hopkinshighside.wmv">http://www.jeffhelms.com/media/videos/h ... ghside.wmv</a><!-- m -->

The back story:

Quote:Hopkins then lost control of his GSV-R and was catapulted out of the seat and landed heavily on the circuit. The race was stopped as both the rider and machine were removed from the track. Unfortunately, Friday pmÔÇÖs injuries were compounded and more significantly the fracture to his left foot became a full dislocation of the broken bone.

ÔÇ£Well, IÔÇÖm battered and bruised. I had one of the worst high-sides IÔÇÖve ever had on Friday and then came close to topping that one off this afternoon,ÔÇØ said Hopkins.

ÔÇ£It was my fault really. IÔÇÖve been taking a few painkillers that IÔÇÖve been getting from Dr Costa. I just tried to do the best I could and stick with the lead group, but unfortunately my foot was bandaged up and I just lost feeling in it. That was really dangerous because you are on the edge of the tyre so much here. With a broken foot, I just couldnÔÇÖt feel it on the shifter and I tried to keep my foot clear but accidentally hit the lever on that corner, the bike shifted to second and then I was flying.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Looks like I wonÔÇÖt be doing too much moto-crossing at home now. I was also planning to do some promotional events with Red Bull and Crescent during the break, but I need to be at home and recover for Brno. I went well there last year and IÔÇÖm desperate to get a good result
