My DSM is For Sale

1991 Eagle Talon.
White
128,000 miles (I think. I'll check later)
5 speed manual transmission
JDM 6 Bolt 4G63
TDO4-13G turbo

Installed:
Fidanza flywheel
Buschur 2.5" downpipe
cat delete pipe
crushed 1G BOV
Fuel Pressure guage (underhood)
Optima Redtop
third gen eclipse wheels with good (but not matching) tires
TMO Datalogger, laptop, cable, and MMCD datalogger *and* PALM. (that's two excellent datalogging packages and their hardware)
new NGK plugs and plug wires
RX-8 shift knob
newish (within 10k miles) belts (including TB and BShaft) hoses, etc.
Sony CD player and standalone sony digital EQ. (BLING! if you don't care about this, I'ma keep the EQ)
Haynes Manual
FSM & 1kFAQ on CD. (for 3KGT, GVR4, 1G and 2G DSM's)
a good VA inspection

Included, but Not installed:
Symborski shifter kit
solid shifter cable bushings
The 4G64 Six Bolt Stroker Crank. (not installed-- 2.3 liters of goodness)
Catalytic converter
Pennzoil Syncromesh tranny fluid
1.3 Bar Radiator Cap

Ok, Rex, I'll bite. What's it need?
Not a damn thing. It's 15 years old, remember, but it's in excellent shape. There is a spot of clearcoat coming off on the hood, and there's a strip of trim above the door with some tiny dents in it, that I believe is replaceable if it bothers you.
Then why are you selling it?
Mostly because I'm a sick SOB. I just bought an E30, and the Talon isn't as fun as I remembered the one I had when I was 16 being. Maybe age has altered my perception. But mostly, I want to try something new and rear wheel drive and German.
Ok, so what's the price?
The price is 2000 dollars, american. Not 1000 dollars, not 1500, not 1750. Not a gift certificate to Besty Buy and your broke-ass CRX. 2000 dollars. I've got reciepts totaling alot more than that.
So what's it look like?
Well, I'm going to take some pictures after washing and waxing it tomorrow, but here's what it looked like not long ago:

I'll take some more pictures tomorrow.

I was going to ask 2500 and "take" 2 grand, but I decided to just ask what I wanted, which is a fair price.

burning brakes smell, brake fade.. NO BRAKES.. need advise
Posted by: BLAIR - 03-12-2006, 05:38 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (46)

so im finally making decent power in the 240 and the brakes are fried. .. no idea what is on em, probably some autozone cheep crap... rotors are pretty worn but the pads have a lot of life left.. pretty sure i glazed em over. now after one hard stop on em they smoke like a mofo.

now what do you all recomend. i have never experienced brake fade ever and i dont want it to happen again. i need new front brakes

bigger brake kit is out of the option. not enough money and i like my 0 offset wheels. so im looking for an upgrade using stock sized stuff. something like a drilled or slotted rotor, performance pad, and a brake fluid flush and add some superblue.

so whats brands do you all recommend for pads. this is a street car but i drive the hell out of it..and 120 to 0 stops happen more than they should.

also is a drilled or slotted rotor really worth it.. cause they are about 3 times the cost as a stock brembo rotor

NEED SOME ADVISE... thanks guys

Hey, I don't have the car yet, but it's pretty much finalized, I just need to go pick the car up. I am stoked b/c this will be my first performace/sports car that would actually have some balls on the autox track. The guy used the car for autox, and that's exactly what I would use it for. The car def has some paint issues, but I am fine w/ that sonsidering it is a 20+ year old car. Tell me what you guys think! The mods/description/pics are as followed:

1985 Mazda Rx-7 Gs

*12,000 milage engine w/ 1/2 bridgeport (12a) (Japanese spec rotor housing with oil injection)
*140k on Chassi
*Full Racing beat exhaust
*Light weight flywheel Heavy duty pp/ ferodo clutch disk
*Racing beat intake system and modified holley
*Triple core radiator (New)
*Electric radiator fan
*Brand new MSD wires
*Adjustable front tokico struts and Racing Beat springs all around
*Aftermarket sway bay (front)
*Strut brace
*Short shifter
*4 brand new Falken Azines RS's. (14 inch limited rims)
*Front air dam (Pacific) and lights
*Aftermarket steering wheel
*Aftermarket fuel pump

Now that I'm back in the 'burg after break I have to deal with NTC again. I have Comcast at home and got to watch the WSB races, FX qualifying, and the supersport race. Now that I'm re-addicted to racing I don't get Speed. Is there any other channel that carries the races tomorrow? Any help would be appreciated.
