Im just posting what I posted on CCVT... just apply it to you guys lol. I definetly think it would be a great event for the clubs to get to know each other. Doesnt have to be super competitive. Natural Bridge is a good halfway point and Im sure theyll rent it out to us for the day. I know you guys arent really into drag but neither is CCVT for the most part, it would just be good to get some interclub relations going.

Hey everyone Ive been talking to a couple MM guys here about the possibility of a Drag Day at Nattie Bridge. Seeing what interest there would be.

Basically to avoid the car wreck that was the CCVT vs CAV event, we should get there early get the grill goin and chat, eat for an hour or two. Check out cars THEN stage and get things going. So we would atleast meet everyone face to face and talk before racing.

Also to avoid "cheating" issues that arose last time like alum running, we could simply set up two race brackets, current students and alumni.

I think this could be great since the schools are only an hour and a half apart and we could chill/party/race together. MM guys are cool like us (two are working for me lol) and would DEF get along with us (AKA race->drink->party->repeat)


Lets get this going for late September. Thoughts?

Its time for the 3rd annual MM Chili Cookoff!

Usually an early august event, this year we moved it a bit later in the year due to racing and moving into the new place.

Location: 11600 Stuart Mill Rd, Oakton VA (MM #2)
Date: Saturday September 23rd. 2pm, or just fucking come when you want before the chili is gone, because I know your lazy asses arent going to show up at 2pm sharp.
What: chili, alcohol, shenanigans
Bring: Chili if you make a mean bowl or standard Picnic/BBQ fare, Beer or money to chip in, Pepto bismol.

Ok.

I've got a couple expensive electric toys. Notably, I caved on my cell phone and bought a nice one, and I've got an iPod Nano. Somebody told me, about the phone once, that I should use it until the battery is 100% dead to make sure that it doesn't develop a memory. I did, and noticed that the battery life seemed to be much greater after the completely dead rechard. I tried the same thing on my iPod to good results. Ever since then I've tried to do this once every couple weeks or so.

Is this something you should be doing to all rechargable batteries to get good service life out of them? Will it ultimately shorten the life of them? Am I the subject of a bad placebo effect? I'm thinking about buying a friend's laptop - would the same advice carry over to those batteries?

Sooo...I blew up my rear differential....Completely my fault, I changed the tranny fluid but not the rear so it had to happen at some point, (12,000 miles overdue when it blew) Anyway, I was wondering if there was anyone with a trailer and a truck and I could borrow their services, to take my car from my house up in Northern Virginia (Tysons Corner) to Harrisonburg. I would of course pay for gas, food and anything else on the trip, also throw in some money/beer/wrench time to someone who would help me out. I just do not have the time to work on the car in NOVA and need it down in harrisonburg. Thanks in advance, timing is VERY FLEXIBLE!!!! Anytime somebody can. Let me know, ill owe someone big time for this.

Well, another track day, and talk about BOOTYFUL weather.

530am :: wake up

600am :: starbucks which ended up being free since they did not have the cash register in.. awesome

630am :: run into Brian (BrianE30) on the toll RD... sweet

720am :: unpack and tech

820am :: riders meeting

940am :: first time out.. was getting used to riding a japo bike from a vtwin, had been a few months since I had rode the gixxer anywhere, the power difference between the 600 and the 1000 really shows, as well as the engine breaking not being anywhere on the 600. I took it slow getting readjusted to the bike, getting back to track form.

1040am :: second time out, feeling a lot more comfortable, carrying a lot more speed, knee is down almost at every corner, and hitting the entrance, apex and exit turns as I am wanting to. This may sound weird to a lot of people, but to me, literally talking to myself through out the track really helps, and I was able to talk myself through bad situations, and so forth. I felt like I had picked up a significant amount of speed, and was a lot more comfortable on the gixxer.

1140am :: BLAM, i am out there and bookin it, zooming through the turns, letting off the gas at the 4th brake marker, and getting on the brakes at the 2nd, really getting a feel for the brakes. and being able to trail brake into the turns. kind of scary at first when i realized what I was doing, cause i guess the thought of the front tucking bling blao, but I was able to maintain, and some shaky situations i pulled off. couple laps into it, one of the course riders, who is wicked fast, rolled up and put me behind him and i followed him around a few times, i was executing everything perfectly, and we were just ROLLING through the pact, really just grooving through the track, every lap we picked up the pace..... UNTIL the damn bus stop. I have an issue with that turn because last time I was here there was oil on the apex of the turn, and I almost high sided.. i flew off but held on and slammed back on the bike. anyhow - i felt I had carried too much speed, and if i were to get on the brakes anymore, the front would tuck. so i picked the bike up and proceeded to continue off track... BUT if any of you have been to jefferson, coming off track there leaves you with 10 yards of run off before the trees. so i rear brake it, rear brake locks i fall. no biggie.. i give the thumbs up to the corner worker, pick the bike up, and when he tells me i pull back on track and pit.

bike suffered a broken rear set, and some nice grass stains on the plastics. helmet is fine, suit, etc. etc. but i hit the same knee as last time, and it is pretty bruised again, making a doctors appointment today.

I went and talked with the course rider after the fall, and he was praising me, saying that my form was awesome, and when he was following me, he said my lines were great, and that i was consistant with them. he said he enjoyed the ride, and had a blast taking me around. i had a fsckin blast following him. he said my speed was up to par of the top of the Intermediate group, and to get the bike fixed and get back out there.

I found someone to lend me another rear set, but i could not put weight on the knee to move around on the seat.. sad so packed up and went home.

crash was kind of stupid, after the ride home and thinking about it, i could have taken the turn at the speed, but I just did not trust the bike. but you learn from that, I can not wait till september granted my knee is okay.

Ok, so my family has a Corvette engine powered Mastercraft ski boat down at our Claytor Lake house, 2.5 hours south of harrisonburg.

So, I'm going to do an MM learn to wakeboard day. It will be a day trip down to Claytor Lake. ie. drive down that morning... come back that evening.

What to bring: Bathing Suit, Towel, Sunscreen, and a change of clothes for the return trip.

Date: September 9th, 2006
Time: Leave at 7am from Rockingham Lot
Cost: Maybe $10 or $15 (we will run through anywhere from $60 to $100 in fuel... the cost will just offset that)

That will put us on the water by like 10am... we will ride for 7 hours and then come home.

What's up guys, I just returned from working at my summer camp for the last 8 weeks and am now trying to catch up on all the things that happened in the world since I was gone, apparently it was a lot.

Anyway before I head up north in a month or so I'm going to try to become one of those crazy subaru kids so I can have a car that can actually make it through the winter in NH. I now think I can spend up to about $6k-$7k and I was looking at the impreza outback sport or maybe just a regular outback. I'm keeping the 325 so I dont need a car to do track events with, but I may try to get into so rallying while I'm up there. Do any of you subaru guys have any suggestions or opinions about that car?


Before you say it, I can afford a wrx.
