well, i took a sweet drive up to the mountains last weekend and got a chance to test out my DIY in-car camera mount. i'm using the video function of my digital camera for now and it's doing OK. i want to compile the footage but windows movie maker isn't gonna cut it for what i'd like to try.
i'm so new to this that i'd like to start with a free or trial-period program that is user friendly. after that i'd be willing to buy a program.
also, what do you recommend for compressing videos? my first try ended up with a 3 minute video compilation being 52 megs. there's gotta be a way i can cut that down and not kill quality right?
lastly, my only experience thus far has been with 3 programs, all free:
- windows movie maker
- RAD video tools (mostly to convert the quicktime files my camera spits out into .avi files that most programs can deal with)
- WAX, just downloaded it and i can't figure out WTF, it's all hieroglyphics to me
any advice or directions to helpful tutorial sites would be appreciated.

| 5th gear pop out in the MR2 |

I swapped my trans this weekend with a used one and replaced the clutch with a Exedy OEM replacement. I also swapped out the stock shifter bushings for bearings and added polyurethane motor mounts.
Here's the problem. The shifter feels different. The gates are all in slightly different spots than I remember and 5th gear pops out of place. What could I have done wrong or what can I do to fix this problem? It goes smoothly into all gears and will stay in 5th so long as I don't get on the gas hard. If I jab at the throttle at 3k+ in 5th gear, it will pop out.
Ironically, the old trans popped out of every gear except 1 & 5. :dunno:

My car had been running rough and after a few shit-scary moments where when I was getting on the car, it lost most of it's power at like 5k RPM and then goes into safe mode. This has happened 5 or so times in the last 2 weeks.
So, today I take it to MAM to get new plugs and plug wires. Don't fix the problem, which I now know is a misfire. After the misfire, my car shuts down the cyclinder until the car is restarted.
So, logically, my tech thinks it's coil packs, so given they are close to $200 a piece and I have 8 of them, we swopped them around, but the misfires remained on the same cylinders.
So, it's probably the injectors. Right? As a result, I bought some techron injector cleaner and I'm running it through as I drive like a grandma.
Add to this, my "low tank pressure" indicator light has been coming on with some regularity.
What's the problem? Could it be a fuel filter? Fuel pump? or is it the injectors?

Found this on another forum, thought it was funny.
Men Are Just Happier People ...
What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your
last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take
care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be
President. You can never get pregnant. You can wear a white
T-shirt to a water park. Heck, you can wear NO shirt to a water park.
Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal.
You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is
just too icky.
You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress: $5000.00. Tux
rental: $100.00.
People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.
The occasional well-rendered belch is not only appreciated by your friends,
but practically expected. New shoes don't cut, blister,
or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are
over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks.
A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You
can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest
act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she
can still be your friend. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.
Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have
strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your
clothes.
Everything on your face stays its original color. The
same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to
shave your face and neck. You can play with toys all your life.
Your belly usually hides your big hips. One wallet and one pair
of shoes one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter
how your legs look. You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife. You
have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache. You can do
Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

Anyone know someone on the volleyball team? I have a co-worker that gets a hardon whenever he's at JMU for the volleyball team, I'd like to get a poster of them signed to him as an office joke, if anyone knows someone on the team and could get me one that'd be great!
let me know,
Chad

Campus folks,
Ever wanted to ride along at 135mph and not worry about cops?
This weekend is the last track event of the season at Summit Point, WV, about 1hr 20 minutes from here, or 20 minutes North of Winchester, VA. I'd like to invite as many of you as possible to join us.
Several of us are going to be there - see this thread for details and the various smak talk between drivers.
It's an incredibly cool, relaxed (unless something brakes and we have to fix it ASAP) environment and there is not a better way to get a taste for the track.
If any of you would like a FREE ride to the event from Harrisonburg, I am leaving here as close to 5:00pm on Friday as I can. I will wait aroudn if your class gets out at 5:30, etc. Just let me know if you need a ride! It's a free trip, no need to chip in on gas as I am going that way anyhow. I can seat 4 additional folks comfortably, or 5 additional if someone will ride in the middle up front (with a seat belt of course!). I'll be towing my racecar too, so it will be a fun trip.
Then, on Saturday/Sunday I know that at least I and Brian Maeng are giving full throtlle rides on track. He has a nice Miata and is a good driver, I have my Turbocharged XR4Ti that holds its own as well.
We would love to see you up there, if only for a day!
Peter
