My thoughts from first time at Summit Point (spectating)
Posted by: Steve85 - 10-19-2006, 10:41 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (13)

First, I can't believe it took me this long to get there even just to watch  .

I had a blast, you cannot appreciate what a car can do on the edge until you see/experience it. I was just blown away by how late they would brake, cars that you KNOW can't slow down that quick, do. And the dedicated race cars (single seaters) are just amazing.

With my history in drag racing, I will say that watching turn 1 was equivalent to watching 8 sec cars launch and disappear with the front wheels up. I'm not going to argue about driver skill here, just that seeing the physics at work in such extremes are equally as exciting, for me.

I went right home ordered new belts and Monday set up to have my roll bar modified.

The best part...I had my 3 yr old who has a blue 350Z hot wheels car with orange wheels and a wing. When a blue Miata with orange wheels came out of the woods, he saw it and screamed "Look daddy, my GT race car" (that's what I told him that hot wheels was called). He started jumping up and down yelling "Go, go, go" as he rounded the carousel and sped down the back stretch. He did it every time the car came around.

Well, I have a winter to get my car in shape, the tech inspections are much more stringent than at the 1/4 mile tracks.

Anyone done this? I am helping my friend do it and all we have is the instructions that came with the kit (not very helpful). I wasnt able to find a DIY online either. Cheers Big Grin

A heads up on selling your stuff
Posted by: sk24iam - 10-18-2006, 11:23 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (16)

What's up guys, I recently came across this site. I'm a JMU student and I recently sold my Maxima which I had enjoyed modifying for 3 years. I have extra parts from the car that I plan on selling but I wasn't sure If I would be able to find interested buyers here at school so I recently took initiative to start a free classifieds website for JMU students and local harrisonburg residents. I'm hoping this website will make it easier for students to sell their stuff without going through much of a hassle. I am in no way trying to direct people away from this site, but if you're looking for an additional place to post your stuff for sale check out http://www.madisonxchange.com

Anyway, I'm selling:

Stinger 1 farad digital cap in chrome
12" carpeted sub box
stock 97 max intake
stock 97 max ypipe
stock 97 max corner lights
stock 97 chrome grill
12" sub grill

Anyone have a free room for next year?
Posted by: Goodspeed - 10-17-2006, 08:42 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (35)

So the time is coming to start looking at off campus living (i'm a sophomore this year living in Wayland). Any local MM'ers have a roommate leaving or a spot that needs filling for next year? I have a few prospects with different people and places but it would be awesome to live with other MM'ers, so let me know 8)

Just ordered a set. They stopped listing it in my size, 15x7 5x114.3, but randomly today, I was surfing the web and found them. Maybe they still have them for your particular car.
