| 2009 tire thread |

Sooo, we haven't had a tire thread for quite a few months and I figure it's probably time to see what everybody's riding on and recommending these days.
I'm personally on the hunt for a tire that can handle track duty, but not a dedicated competition tire. Needs to be available in 225/50/15 and preferably $100 or less.
Current considerations:
Falken Ziex ZE-512 $68 each on discounttiredirect.com
Kumho Ecsta AST $68 each on discounttiredirect.com
Hankook Ventus RS-2 $100 each on tirerack.com
I'm leaning toward the 512s b/c of the price and prior MM reviews, but wanted to see if anybody knew of anything new out there or other recommendations

wouldn't it be cool if we could "flag" our favorite threads? I'm not sure if its possible, but maybe someone knows. I'm always searching for past topics on "how to's" that get lost deep in the pages. I'd also like to bookmark the topics I'm interested in following, since I tend to just skim through things these days.
You could also set it up so when searching, you could choose to only view your bookmarked topics. Oh, and these bookmarks would obviously be specific to each user.

| Guitar and Bass Amp |

I have two main items for sale:
Peavey Rotor EX electric guitar.
Its about 2 years old, similar shape to a Gibson Explorer. Candy Apple Red, with a silver pinstripe that I applied using automotive vinyl. There are some scratches on the back. It sounds pretty good, I just don't play it much. Its got two humbuckers, as well as a floyd rose tremelo/locking nut.
I paid $379 for it new. I do not have a case or a gig bag for it.
Probably wouldn't hurt to take it to a shop to get it restrung and set up/whatnot.
$200
Fender Bassman 120 Amp.
Solid State with a 15 inch speaker. I've had it for about 5 years now, and I never use it. When I got it, it didn't work, it was free. The repair shop that fixed it through Shenandoah Music replaced a resistor as well as the speaker. Sounds great with a guitar, I'm sure it would be great for a small club or whatever for a Bass player. The grille has a very small tear in it, and there is some white paint on one side.
$250
I also have a Digitech RP50 modeling guitar processor, batteries are dead, still works great other than that.
$40

I was just curious if y'all experience this at your employer or not:
A quick org structure: CIO -> three directors -> each director's employees.
At my company the CIO blatantly favors two women. They recently began to dislike their Director (around the same time he started keeping employee metrics I'm told) so the CIO, to keep them happy, brought them out from under that director and they now report directly to him. Between the two of them he really favors one of them. This female in question is "on the fast track to management," per his words. She's indispensable, works 20 hours a week and the company couldn't survive without her. She's the youngest person on the IT staff at ~24.
I don't have a fucking clue what she does and have no proof of her accomplishing anything in three years. In fact, we recently had to buy software for her that, honestly, queried a database and made it into neat, sortable, tables and automatically generated forms based on the table structure. I'm sure most of you know how ridiculous it is to have to buy that when so many free language frameworks do it and how easy it is to simply do it yourself. Actually, the most I've seen either of these two women do in the last two weeks was watch a secretary stock our fridge with sodas.
I have videos of him flirting with her (I brought in my digital camera for a few months and would sit it on my desk and click record whenever he got near. I'm sitting on them until the day he does something enough to really piss me off, or until I quit and then I'll present them to HR on my last day - largely because I'm an asshole.
Now my boss, in an attempt to get in good with the CIO or in return for something I assume, is favoring her even though she doesn't work for him. Actually, I can forecast this - she's "Deputy PM" on a project (that's the favor), which means hours clocked in a PM role which means she can get her PMI. At which point she'll get promoted to a director sometime in the next year or two. Unfortunately, I'll be long gone and won't be able to burn the building down as an appropriate response.
The CIO is also known to walk up to their door, claw at it, and meow as if he were a lost kitten - I shit you not.
So, that said - any of y'all experience stuff like that? I tend to sum it up to people as "My CIO is metaphorically fucking most of his employees in an attempt to literally fuck one of them" but I have no idea if he's really trying to shag her. I mentioned on another board I was thinking of keeping a list of day-to-day shenanigans that go on in my office because the people around here are beyond ridiculous and 3 miles short of accomplishing legitimate work. I'm sure I could make a movie. While typing this I've done nothing but listen to the two of them giggle incessantly in their office.

Hello MM,
So, this being the new year of 2009, I wanted to remind everyone that we are happy to accept any annual dues payments/donations you are willing to give
If you are an alum member, dues are basically the same as donations, as there really isn't a way to keep track of many of you in terms of who has paid and who hasn't. But seriously, we like to ask willing alumni members to contribute $20 dollars for dues, or as much as they would like to!
To give you an idea of where your donation would end up, we really need all the funding we can for karting, the car show, and the ordering of basic club apparel and goods like t-shirts and stickers. We also instituted a program whereby the club will pay for your first autocross ever, given that you are MM member. This was very successful in the past and got us some great people who are very involved in the club.
So please, donate what you can. Our paypal address is mmsports@hotmail.com, or you can write a check to:
Madison Motorsports
MSC 8106
800 South Main Street
Harrisonburg, VA 22807
Please notify us if you choose this option.
Thank you. Thank you for being a caring member. Thank you for being there when we need you most. Thank you.

Pretty kickass and a good way of explaining why the cars will be ugly this year (but hopefully with more passing).

Hey,
I live in alexandria... Kingstowne to be a little more specific and I totally saw a Nissan Titan truck parked on my street with a JMU sticker and an MM sticker. I'm wondering if they live by me because that would be awesome.
Lemme know if you know who this truck belongs to.
Thanks!,
Drew

I was thinking about ordering this barebones kit. It's been a long time since I had a desktop, so I basically know nothing about the architectures. I am hoping to throw in a bit more ram, a sweet GPU, and maybe upgrade the processor later. Is this the right chip i want for gaming? Wtf is the difference between Core 2, core 2 duo, core 2 quad, i7? I see that i7 uses a different socket..does this mean the core2 line of chips is on the way out and I won't be able to upgrade much longer?
