Stereo Parts: Head Unit and IPOD Adaptor
Posted by: Ken - 03-11-2009, 12:21 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (6)

Got my new car, not planning on using this head unit in it.

JVC EXAD
-Motorized removable face
-DVD player
-AV outs (Can add camera, or dvd screen etc.)
-Built in amp is 20W RMS x4
-Remote
-Great condition, minor blemishes

IPOD Adaptor
- Never been used
-Attaches to head unit as CD changer, controlled via head unit.

The head unit was about 500 dollars when i bought it (3 years ago) and the adaptor was around 90 dollars. So factoring in the head unit being used, but still technology relevant, im asking for around 300 dollars; but i'm open to reasonable offers.

Pictures coming soon.

MM Fast and Furious 4 Movie Debut @ Theater!
Posted by: Goodspeed - 03-10-2009, 10:50 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (73)

The 4th installment of everyone's favorite franchise, the aptly named "Fast and Furious" (the word "the" is so 2001), is coming to theaters on Friday, April 3rd, 2009.

This is the day before our Spring Motorshow, and we'll be going to the theater in celebration after setting up for the show. If anyone who is already planning on coming down for the show is interested, we'll make sure you have a place to stay the night so you can watch the movie the way it was meant to be seen, with a bunch of other MM'ers.

Quotes will be rampant, and encouraged, including:

Mia!

I'll call in the plates, PD will pick him up way before Tran even gets near him...YOU'RE THE COP...YOU ARE THE COP!

It's alright, I ain't losin'. This fool is runnin' a Honda 2000

You should be goin' to MIT or something...

Yes, those were all purely from memory.

Anyways, this doesn't need much more explanation. F&F + MM = win.

 G-Force Karting - Sunday, April 19th 12pm-1pm Richmond, VA
Posted by: Goodspeed - 03-10-2009, 10:31 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (91)

You remember that scene from Rocky IV, when Rocky the "Italian Stallion" Balboa is training to fight Ivan Drago? He's running through the snow of the Russian countryside, lifting farm equipment over his head and vying for glory. That is about 1/10th of the effort required to win at karting. You need to be intense...trained, (karting) licensed to kill. Those new to the MM karting trip have to deal with those who are experts in karting warfare, people who are the best with karts and their bare hands. They've been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the race track, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Richmond their job is to dispose of enemy drivers. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. To whoever asks what possessed God in heaven to make people like them...God didn't make our drivers...MM did.

We will be going karting on Sunday, April 19th from 11am to 1pm

We have 20 spots available, 10 for students and 10 for alumni

COST:
Students: 30 dollars
Alumni: 40 dollars

You can pay online at mmsports@hotmail.com, please include paypal fees!

PM me if you'd like to pay by check through the mail.

We'll again be doing a 2 hour session, with 4 person teams, 15 minutes on/45 minutes off so every person will get one-half hour of seat time. Teams will be randomized.

You'll want to bring gloves and possibly a towel to throw in the seat and grip you better, and long pants are required. Come out, have fun, get rolled and roll others. This is always one of the most fun events of the semester!

Afterwards, we'll be grabbing food somewhere in town and we'll see what else we can get in to!

*NOTE: Please make a firm commitment/have payment ready before signing up. Our last trip of 40 spots resulted in a few no-shows that affected team layouts and track times. We've been asked to do 40 spots; everyone agrees its more fun, so come out and BE THERE!

Post up in here (in lieu of poll) so we can make a list!

The List:
1. David Goodspeed
2. Adam Flint
3. Cabell Spicer
4. Jake Thiewes
5. Adam Zisa
6. Peter Tyson
7. DJ Fitzpatrick
8. Ryan Koontz
9. Hyatt Harper
10. Adam Flint's Friend
11. David Meyer
12. Ralph Priebe
13. Mark Thomas
14. Shea Kernodle
15. Justin Gallamore
16. Mike D'Amico
17. John Chapin
18. Ryan Thayer
19. Gerald Irish

wtf is PIFTS.exe... and other Conspiracy Theories

All kinds of shit on the internet about this EXE that tried to update on my computer this morning. Apparently Norton blocked/banned and deleted users on their forums for bringing it up and asking why. Google also removed PIFTS.exe from their search trends.

 Battery Dead
Posted by: Ginger - 03-10-2009, 08:14 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (15)

I went out to my Jeep this morning and noticed that, upon opening the door, I was not greeted by the warm glow of the candlepower dome lamp.

"That's odd" I said, as I put the key into the ignition.

Crickets chirped.

The last time I drove it was probably Wednesday of last week, give or take a day. There were no signs of iminent anything failure then. I checked the cables after I got the no juice condition and, sure enough, they were still attached. Great.

So, my question is this: have you ever had a standard lead acid battery completely die? I've had them slowly peter out before, and I've fried them in single overuse situations, but I can't say that I've ever had one completely discharge without warning. I know that this isn't an entirely atypical failure style... but I would feel more comfortable when I go home to poke at it with a stick that other people have had similar experiences.

 New paint job... finally finished
Posted by: Chris - 03-07-2009, 06:30 PM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (13)

So what do you guys think? The paint didn't turn out that good, but from a distance its not too bad. The yellow mirrors are growing on me, but I'm not sure if I like them yet. I'm so glad its done... way too much work. Emblems are on the way soon.

 First Impressions: Audi RS4
Posted by: WRXtranceformed - 03-06-2009, 10:56 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (34)

Got my first ride in an RS4 today. The CEO of the company I'm working with that a friend of mine franchised took us out to lunch. He's pretty awesome, he's a total gearhead. Fit and finish inside was amazing. Tons of really high quality carbon fiber. Not the toned down shit that's all over my car. The exterior styling speaks for itself, although I will admit it is not as sexy on the exterior as the CFO's S8. He's not too worried about it though, the RS4 is going to be his beater since his 09 R8 is going to arrive in Indy next week

I've been in quite a few quick cars, definitely a few 400+hp ones but that car moves out. It was me, him and another 200+ pound guy and that car had instant torque and pretty startling upper rpm pull for a V8. We were coming up pretty quick on a red light and that thing came to a stop better than any car I've ever been in. I mean bone crushing stopping power with no drama for a bigass 4 door car.

I've never really been sold on German cars at all, but I REALLY feel like if I ever had the means I would love to own one of those cars. The sound, the stability, the looks and the practicality make it such a solid daily driver. I mean it's no R8, but it's a sick ride. I'm HOPING to get a ride in the R8 if it gets here before I head back to Charlotte. Here are some pics of the RS4 and the S8 I took on my phone's camera.
