vaaaasuuuup im brunoooo. My name is chris, im a freshman at JMU. I was "active" in the club last semester and got shizz from adam, jake, joey etc about never showing up to meetings, probably because they missed admiring my bod. I had an '07 YELLOW GMC canyon, but it was good for nothing. My dad bought a new car and traded mine in to get it, giving me his old one. I now have an '05 Grand Cherokee Limited (HEMI BABYYY)...and its pretty much completely stock because i suck with cars (ask cabell how funny it was to watch me try to change the oil). But yeah ive ridden dirtbikes since i was 13 and currently have an '05 YZ125, she purrs. Engines are cool and all, but i mainly like to do things that are adventurous/exciting. So you wont find me with a pad and paper studying how to take apart an engine...unless it helps me go faster or makes the car look better.
Some notes: Jake is a geek, nobody talk to him about computers. Adam and Cabell are funny dudes. Joey is the man. And MM is ballin.

| New WRC rules mean no more turbos |

Lol wut?
Quote:The World Rally ChampionshipÔÇÖs governing body, the FIA World Motor Sport Council has just confirmed that as of 2011 competing vehicles must use non-turbocharged naturally aspirated engines ÔÇô a move that has series veteran and all-star S├®bastien Loeb considering a new career path.
The new rules will allow for certain aerodynamic changes to the Super 2000 (or S2000) cars, however, the decision to move away from turbocharged powerplants was made to open up the series to more manufacturers ÔÇô including Skoda, Abarth, Peugeot and Proton ÔÇô by making it less expensive to run a competitive car.
These rules may also be to blame for other manufacturers leaving the series. Several months ago Subaru announced that it would not compete in the 2009 season, stating economic concerns, however, it is just as likely that the the company had no intention of running with the new rules (which donÔÇÖt take effect until 2011).
Turbochargers are set to return to the series in 2013, but mated to smaller 1600c (1.6-liter) engines.
Five-time WRC Champion S├®bastien Loeb, whoÔÇÖs contract with Citro├½n is up at the end of this season, has expressed his displeasure with the new rules and his desire to try his hand at other forms of motorsports.
ÔÇ£The excitement will not be the same,ÔÇØ Loeb told AutoWeek. I always said it would be better with the turbo, and this is how I feel.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£We donÔÇÖt have to decide anything until 2011,ÔÇØ he continued. ÔÇ£When that comes, maybe I can move to something more interesting.ÔÇØ
What exactly he might move to is the Le Mans series, as Loeb is already scheduled to test a Peugeot 908 HDi Le Mans prototype this year.
ÔÇ£S├®bastienÔÇÖs contract is up at the end of this year,ÔÇØ a Citro├½n source told AutoWeek. ÔÇ£ThereÔÇÖs really nothing for him to prove to stay on in WRC. He has won every rally and broken every record. Maybe he can leave at the end of 2009 and start racing straight away next year.ÔÇØ

So Samantha and I will be in the burg on Jan. 29th. We are going to the feast of alvis on sat, but we'd love to meet up with MM on Friday night. We should get there about 8pm friday afternoon. Anyone up for some Dave's Taverna? I'll have the Mark LT so we are prepared to take 3 (maybe 4) people to the feast of alvis in Nova. Just lemme know who's up for a dinner and some drinks while we're in town.

| Jumping red lights on a bicycle |

So, I'm a relatively new to bicycle commuting - have been doing it a couple of days a week since September. On the way in this morning, I did pretty much what I always do at the light nearest my house. Pulled up to the light, waited for traffic to thin out, proceeded across the red light (no pedestrians, no cross-traffic), and as I was headed down through, another bicyclist cut loose with a rant, telling me how I was "ruining it for everyone".
Now, for the most part I follow normal traffic rules, but on a bicycle it seems like there are some situations that warrant different behavior. The light in question is just before a narrow stretch of road with several cross-streets - I always jump that light if I can, because I want to get past those cross streets before someone has the opportunity to turn right across my path.
I am aware that I could be ticketed for jumping red lights, so let's assume that isn't a deterrent in the cases where I feel my safety is comprised by waiting for a green light.
What do you other MM bicyclists do? Vote in the poll, then explain yourself. According to Google, the bicycling "community" is very divided on this issue...

I know a few current students dont have cars/dont want to drive, etc. Anyways this weekend I will be at JMU, and saturday and sunday days we will be going to snowshoe. Each day we will be leaving in the morning and returning at night to JMU. I figured I would offer up a ride to anyone that wants to join us to go to snowshoe. I have one spot available in the back of the M3 (have a ski rack on it so no problem with skis), and we have an extra car that I could check if we have space in as well. Figured id offer it up as ill be at JMU anyway.

Hey, my name is David and I'm a senior here at JMU. I'm an accounting major/CIS minor. My civic is the sexiest looking car at JMU for sure! Did I say sexiest? I meant dirtiest...

In my free time I like rebuilding engines and rear-ending yellow E36 M3's.
I've been to a few meets in the past, but should be able to attend most if not all meets this semester because I am now jobless!

Old BMW's = Money pit
Clunk = Diff bushings
Front LCA bushings are surely shot too.
Vibrations = Get new plugs for sure... does it have Vanos?
Trans = I would be very careful with what you do with it. If you are sure that the fluid has never been changed then its best to leave it alone at this point. Changing it could accelerate its demise (and at almost 200k it aint too far off).
