Why on Earth BMW would feel the need to do this, I don't know. I never thought I'd see the day where there was a FWD BMW.

McLaren's newest supercar and the sucessor to there amazing McClaren F1 which was capable of 240 mph back in the 90's was released today~!
![[Image: mp4_12c_011_2_610x408.jpg]](http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/bto/20090909/mp4_12c_011_2_610x408.jpg)
Design
As with the McLaren F1, carbon fiber (Carbon MonoCell) is used extensively in the vehicle to minimize weight. The MP4-12C will weigh only 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) dry.[3] The chassis is based around an F1 style one-piece carbon fibre tub, weighing only 80 kg (176 lb).
Engine
The car is powered by a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. The engine produces approximately 600 horsepower and 433 foot-pounds of torque. It has a redline of 8,500 rpm, with 80% of torque available at just 2,000 rpm.[3][4] When they announced the car, McLaren claimed that their engine will have a higher horsepower to carbon dioxide emission ratio than any internal-combustion engine available at the time.[5] Contrary to earlier speculation, this is McLarenÔÇÖs own V8, dubbed M838T and breathed on by twin turbos and driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (no manual is available). The V8 has a dry sump and a flat-plane crank like a race engine, to lower the centre of gravity and allow a higher rev limit.
Performance
McLaren have stated the MP4-12C can accelerate from 0-200km/h in under 10 seconds.[6] The car will have a top speed in excess of 200mph and will be able to brake from 200km/h to a complete stop in under five seconds. Braking from 100km/h to zero can be done in under 30 metres, around seven car lengths. It is expected the 12C will complete the standing quarter mile in approximately 11 seconds.

I heard from a little birdie that the retired NASA-MA SM Champion from 2006 MAY be considering selling his SM. It is updated with current logbooks for SCCA and NASA. Its also getting some WWR Speed Secrets installed this week. See it at Summit Point this weekend at Garage #3 or possibly on the track Friday-Sunday. The owner might consider a good offer on this speedster.
Not trying to start any rumors, but if you are in the market for a quality 1.8 SM (supposedly THE CAR to have now), you might want to make time to see it or talk to me....
I have personally chased this car around the track many times and my car once held the NASA-MA track record at SPMP and VIR for SM (still may?!?). This is a quality car

MMsports guys/gals... my name is Greg Shaffer and i am the owner of Mid Atlantic Motorwerkes in Harrisonburg... i think most of you in the Harrisonburg area are fairly aware of our business of selling, servicing BMWs and other german makes. you can visit us at: midatlanticmotorwerkes(dot)com
I'm reaching out to you guys first because i am familiar w/ your orginization and i have spent a few evenings speaking at your meetings in the past in regards to road racing. As some of you know, we are not only engaged in the sale of pre-owned BMWS, but also have a full service/parts shop on site and most of what i do, personally, is campaign several BMW racecars from everything from NASA to Grand-Am.
I have an opening coming up immediately where we are going to hire a new person to our staff... this job would entail a job description as follows: front desk agent, lot attendent, customer service, sales assistant, scheduling service appointments, car delivery assistance, etc. etc. We are looking, primarily, for someone who can work upwards of 20+ hours per week (during our business hours of 10-6pm Mon-Friday) and SATURDAYS are a MUST for at least 3 out of the 4 Saturdays per month. (hours on Sat are 10-6). We are looking for someone that carries themselves in a professional manner, is good at talking w/ our clientel, can talk about options of the cars we sell (mainly BMW) (and training is provided), can be dependable/honest/trustworthy to the point of holding a key to the dealership to open/close on Saturdays.
I am looking for someone that fits in most importantly... YES, we do race cars as part of our business model, but this job is not about racecars, it's about the day to day operation of sales and service, etc. Knowledge base of BMW is a preferred skill, but will certainly not have a problem with training in that category if i can find the right person who simply fits the mold well. I am also looking for someone who will be sticking around Harrisonburg once JMU is out of session and living in the area throughout the summer months as well (THIS IS MANDATORY). There will be flexibility in the Mon-Fri scheduling w/ Saturdays being very structured around 3 weekends per month. There will be a base hourly pay and certain incentives set up for the sale of a auto on our lot as well.
I'm not on this forum much at all, so if you can, contact me direct at: greg@midatlanticmotorwerkes.com to move forward w/ discussions... if you have previous dealership experience, that is great, but a good, responsible "people person" who is clean cut and organized could certainly fit the bill as well!
Thanks much and look forward to hearing from anyone that is qualified for our operation.
Greg Shaffer

Alright gang, some of you may have attended my Meet n' Greet BBQ in the beginning of the year... HERE
Well I'm planning on doing another one this year, maybe in tradition of car show shenanigans in the past.. Vote on which day would be best for everyone. As usual there is plenty of space for everyone to park their cars and for some of you space to crash if needs be. I'll probably ask everybody to paypal me like $2-3 dollars to cover burgers, dogs, buns, condiments, chips, etc.. and potentially if there is enough money maybe a big shiny barrel of carbonated beverages.... 8) Let me know what everyone's opinion is on this cause I'm more than willing to make it happen..

I've heard this bike idle in person, but I had never seen someone riding one around a racetrack. Boy do I wish Honda would make a retro RC166 for the street (if they can keep it sounding so good).
