well...i pulled the trigger on a 2010 VW GTI. I was looking to replace the loss of my motorcycle with something a little more fuel efficient, fun, and practical. I've been wanting to get back into the VW community for a while and considered getting a MKII again, but i definitely need a garage to work on it. I saw this model year and fell in love. I did a lot of research and considered used cars, but ultimately i narrowed it down to the new WRX, the Mazdaspeed3, and this car. I sat in all of them and drove the 'dub and knew i wanted it. What sold me were the standard features, price, and the financing rate that was offered.

i've been debating on whether or not to sell the truck and i may try to sell it to see what i can get. if i can get a good price, then i'll likely let it go...sad, because i like it...i just don't have a use for it.

some highlights:
TSI engine with timing chain instead of the belt
standard electronic LSD
standard heated seats (i'm loving the plaid)
bluetooth capability
HIDs (they follow where you turn, haha)
sunroof
standard iPod sync with touchscreen radio

i know VW reliability has been spotty, but it does appear that the MKV GTI performed much better than the previous generations. I'm just happy to be driving a 'dub again

Downgrading is the wrong word, but "Getting Something Cheaper and Older" doesn't sound as good.

I'm of the general mind that my Legacy just isn't what I want. That probably comes as no surprise, but despite doing everything fairly well it just doesn't really excite me. Maybe I was ruined by my E36 M3 and/or B5 S4, but I just don't get the excitement I used to from my car. The Legacy is plenty fast and plenty capable, but I rarely use the back seats or the Sport Sharp throttle mode. Essentially, I'm just not using all of the car.

I have three very distinct opinions on what I should do.

1) It's paid off, just shut up and drive it. I've tried to convince myself of this for the last few months, but it never seems to stick.

2) Get something ridiculous like a V8 S4 or Z4 Coupe. I've been pricing both for some time and the Z4 is pretty close to an even trade, but I can't really afford to lay out any extra cash. Additionally, I think I've finally come to realization that I just want a car that "works" and it doesn't have to have 250+ hp.

3) Get something cheaper and more utilitarian. It annoys me that I can't fit my pedal bike in my car, so I've also been considering a wagon of some sort. I've also been thinking about finally upgrading from my first bike, so I could use the extra cash. I could sell the Legacy, get a used WRX Wagon, MS3 or 92-x and upgrade the SV to something like a 748.

Thank you's go out to all that worked this past weekend. I had to change cars 2 times (once right before qualifying on Sunday) and I appreciate all the assistance that was given to me in doing so. Big thanks to the guys in Tech. It's nice to know that when you disrespect your fellow drivers by showing up with an illegal car, you will be caught. In the past, with some people, NASA was not known for catching some of these issues and I greatly appreciate all the effort you displayed this weekend. You all ROCK! :bow:

So who is playing it? What do you think?

Took me two days (playing a few hours after work) to bang out the single player. Gameplay is different from MW2 in all the right ways. I love how its very hard to run and gun. I feel like it is a little more authentic. I like how the health does not auto replace, I like how people have jobs they have to do or things just don't work. Its the kind of gameplay I wanted from MW2 but could never get because some guy with two shotguns or a tac knife would take me out. Zach and I were playing last night as a sniper team. Hes much farther along and knows the game better then me, so it was a learning experience. I think his rank is 29 or 30 where I am just on the verge of 2...lol. The only thing I am not crazy about is really some of the controls. I hate that you can't go prone. I also dislike the spawning, it sucks to spawn as a sniper right in the middle of a firefight. The gameplay is much longer for a match, sometimes it can get a bit...drawn out. So anyway, tell everyone what you think!

anyone looking to upgrade? I dropped our EX-V7 and it's not happy.
