  Project Lotus Exige
Posted by: Evan - 08-22-2010, 10:19 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (103)

I guess its finally time I start one of these threads
[Image: ie0r9949.jpg]

The car as it sits now:
2006 Lotus Exige
Track Pack (with sweet ass remote resevoir bilsteins)
Touring Pack
LSD
Moroso baffled pan
2 peice aluminum hat rotors

The plan:
first stage will be to make it a better street driver and fix some of the cars drawbacks

-swap to street rotors and pads (done)
-New tires (done)
-Install HIDs to fix truly pathetic lighting
-Install Multivex sideview mirrors to help with poor rearview visibility
-Install softtop supports for top down pimpin
-Install rear view camera for more rearview help
-Upgrade terrible stereo system. nothing fancy, just better speakers and maybe a better headunit
-possibly get clearbra paint protector stuff
-fab some sidevent grills where the dumbass previous owner removed them :finger:

the future:
new wheels
boost....?
K20/K24...?

  2009 Lancer Ralliart
Posted by: Ken - 08-22-2010, 05:31 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (21)

Okay, so for all of that may recall a little over a year ago i asked for help deciding what my next car would be from my '06 RSX.

I settled on the 09 Lancer Ralliart mostly because I love Evo's and can't yet afford one and they finally made the Ralliart what it should have been from its inception. AWD, turbo-ed and shares the 4b11-T with the EVO. I decided to lease it because that's what I had done for my RSX and it worked. However it turns out that I am blowing by mileage and a rate which i did not expect which is mostly due to the fact that i absolutely LOVE this ca (18k miles in a little over a year when i should have 10K Confusedhock: ). It's quick and an absolute blast to drive IMO. The only negative i that it is not manual, before i get flamed there was no other transmission option other than the TC-SST. That being said, i do enjoy it and appreciate it greatly when i encounter Long Island Expressway traffic (daily) and NYC traffic (once or twice a month).

Back to the blowing through mileage, this has caused me to come to the determination that I am going to purchase the car at the end of the lease. The residual value of the car is more than fair and the payments are definitely do-able upon graduation. Therefore i have decided to do some slight modding until the warranty is up at 30k and then go from there.

My mods so far, in order (pre- deciding i am going to buy it):
Tinted windows (15%)
Kicker components
MTX amp (45W RMS x4)
Pioneer Sub
Boss Amp (500W RMS)
JVC headunit with bluetooth.

- Already replaced one kicker door speaker due to manufacturer's defect. Boss amp blew out on me and i haven't yet had the money to replace it. It's from my old car so i got a solid 5 years out of it so i'm okay with that. JVC head unit is solid but the bluetooth doesn't work nearly as well as the stock one so i hardly use it, oh well.

Bridgestone Blizzacks
This one occurred when i decided to see just how well stock summer tires handle in the snow. I quickly learned that they aren't bullshitting you when they say Summer. Blizzacks combined with AWD and "snow" mode = AWESOME. Don't regret this at all.

Black 18in Enkei rims wrapped in Sumitomo HTR III
Once summer started i decided that, even with leasing, it made the most sense to get dedicated summer setup. The stock tires were so craptastic that not only did they handle poorly, they wore ridiculously fast and made no sense to mount them on stock rims. So i purchased a new setup which went from stock 215s to 235s . World of difference and not to mention shed about 4.5lbs of weight from each rim.

Recently, after making the decision that i will purchase the car i decided to go ahead and put in an intake. Rather than spend the 300 dollars on an injen CAI or what-not, which would have ran me another 300 re-locate the battery to the trunk, i decided to do a "home-made" short ram.

This was done by purchasing the stock EVO MAF housing and removing my airbox and air-snorkel thing. I "coerced" the stock EVO MAF housing into the inlet (WAY easier said then done. it fits, it just took me and a friend about 45 min to convince it to do so) and placed a 3in AEM cone filter onto the end of that. So instead of 600 dollars for an intake, my total cost was about 80 dollars.

Once it was done, i was very pleased with the difference. It sounds so much nicer and, dare i say, a very slight uptick in acceleration in the top end. Although, admittedly, that just may be more of me wanting to feel that.

Planned future:
Painting all silver on the car black
lowering
sway bars
Exhaust
FMIC
After both exhaust and FMIC are done, a tune.

After all that is done i will decide whether or not i would upgrade to a new turbo, probably just a stock Evo one but that decision is quite a ways away.

Looking for any suggestions, always open to new ideas...

  93' GSX
Posted by: Gs dewd - 08-21-2010, 10:10 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (28)

Don't know what I was thinking when I bought this but just picked up a decent 93' GSX. Got it for a very cheap price (under 1k). Only prob I see other then some obscence wiring is it needs a clutch. Not sure what to do with it yet. May just turn it into a DD buy returning it to factory status and lose all the "upgrades". The spec are as follows and I got these from the guy who actually "built" the car.
6 bolt 4G63, ARP Studs, Balance shafts removed, 2G Ported Exhaust Manifold, Evo 3 16g, 750 cc injectors, Spearco FMIC, Dejon Upper I/C and Intake piping, 2g throttle body elbow, Greddy Type rs bov, 3 Inch APEXI Exhaust, Rewired 190 Walbro Fuel Pump, Autometer Boost and Oil Pressure Guage, SAFC, Eprom ECU w/ Stage 3 Keydriver Chip, MAFt, 3 ' Gm MAF, and a HKS Turbo Timer.
Anyone with suggestion as what I should do with it? It actually seems to run good after I rewired the MAFt to the GM Maf wires and the wires where the SAFC where connected to the ecu plugs. Boy what a horrendous site that was. Surprised thne ecu wasn't fried. The wires where striped and spliced together but no tape no nothing on them to prtect the joints from shorting together. Also why I was repairing the wires I did pop out the ecu and crack the case open. It is indeed a eprom ecu with a keydriver chip set for the 750 cc inj and maft. Thinking I may if I don't put it all back to factory go with ECMLink light and run that and lose the keydriver chip and safc.
Ideals? Suggestions?

  side->top post conversion

My SS has a side post battery in it. I hate that sumbitch. Today it wouldnt start again, and I suspect it is because the side-post terminals arent making a good connection. This happened last time, and i put a charger on it, still no dice, then finally thought to tighten the side post terminals and it fired right up. Anyway..its a son of a bitch to get to the screws on the side, and since they seem to be a pain in the ass - can you juts cut the ends off, buy a set of top post terminals and crimp them on? Seems like it'd be just the same, right?

I'm planning on taking my bike to school Saturday and if anyone can spare five minutes to help me unload it I would be ever thankful. I could probably do it myself but its nice to have someone spot and help balance it.

So, Rex's company is heavily involved with this organization because Mickey Johnson, a coworker of Rex's lost his son to Neuroblastoma I think about 2 years ago now. Mickey and some friends started Cody's crew, its a non profit to raise money and awareness for Neuroblastoma a childhood cancer.

We did this last year, well, we walked it, cause we were fat and couldnt' run it. Well this year we are less fat and are going to try to run the most of it. We'd love to have some people show up and do this with us. Its for a good cause, and anybody who wants to stay with us are more than welcome to do so.

  FreshMMan Move-In
Posted by: Jake - 08-19-2010, 11:07 AM - Forum: Campus Events - Replies (5)

Just so the word is out there... MM is helping with freshman move-in this year. There is a Facebook event for those who have indicated interest in helping, but I'm posting here too just for shiggles.

We'll be at the Tree Houses (Cedar, Maple and Magnolia) on Tuesday the 24th, and at Hoffman Hall (that's the renovated one, right off the Quad) on Wednesday the 25th.

For those helping... meet us at the Tree House parking (Tuesday) or the Warsaw parking deck (Wednesday) at 8 AM. Move-in is officially from 9 to 3 but they always have early people show up, so they asked that we arrive at 8 as well.

If you're helping - wear your MM shirt, hat, tattoo, Speedo, whatever you deem tasteful. We aren't supposed to actively promote our club (like "welcome to JMU, you should join MM") but definitely talk us up if people ask about the club and/or your MM apparel.

Woohoo, see y'all there Big Grin

  Integra Clicks at 60+ MPH
Posted by: andrew_j - 08-18-2010, 09:44 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (3)

So I noticed on my way back to JMU that my teg was making a clicking noise. I didn't think anything of it seeing as I had it loaded down with all of my stuff, figured some glass was banging or something. Today I went to head down to VT to help my gf move into her dorm and the clicking is still there. I have deduced that it is coming from the front of the car. I though it was in the drive line but my Dad is confident that is not the problem.

So does this look like a problem? Or what else could be causing the click. The car is a 2000 Integra LS.
