i'm really curious what you guys think of these, especially with the majority of you living in the high-traffic DC area.
(this is in Russia, where people crash just getting their mail, but still)

or fine citizens such as this:

apparently with people becoming more desperate for cash these days coupled with the fact that your average person is a shithead, i'm hearing of a number of instances where the ol' "swoop and squat" scam driving techniques are becoming more popular. this involves someone either diving down on you from another lane and then slamming on the brakes so you rear end them, or even simply backing into you when you're at a stop and claiming you rear-ended them. in many cases these are done in situations devoid of witnesses (or witnesses who don't give a crap) so its your word against theirs. insurance pays out, or it goes to court for a settlement, asshole reaps profits.
couple this with being able to sue the hell out of someone for nearly any reason no matter how superfluous, and you have this sort of thing becoming even more popular to bring down on unsuspecting innocent motorists. i've read that in NJ this is starting to get pretty bad. in eastern Europe nearly every car has one of these.
anyone consider a dash cam? hell, even using a GoPro to do the job? they're coming down in price (<$100, even less on ebay) and have the potential to really be useful. i've never had this happen to me, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if it did considering how many time's i've been run into in the past. as a bonus, could you not use a dashcam to make an in-car driving video on the cheap if the sound was decent enough?
here's one. they can go right onto the windshield with suction cups as well.

you can even get an app for your Android, free! that's very cool.

i dunno. with people having cameras in their phones now for any occasion, is this the next step? if anyone has any stories i wanna hear 'em.

| Ideas for Campus Meetings |

I popped in to the meeting on Wednesday and it was almost over. I think I was 15 minutes late. Times change, but usually we wouldnt have ever started the meeting yet lol. Anyway I figured I would put together some ideas for the officers AND students (maybe some alumni) for possible presentations.
If the current students dont want to hear people talk about crap, so be it its just an idea for you guys (feel free to tell me if its a bad idea). They may require research (or should) and you could also steal some ideas if you sat in on the HPDE class room sessions.
Ideas:
-HP vs. TQ as it applies to street/autox/track/drag
-Basic engine upgrades and the slippery slope (when should I upgrade my valve train? How does compression effect static hp/tq)
-The Friction Circle can be simplified visually
- Offset and Backspacing how do I make these tires and wheels fit
-How to use X tool
-Cam profiles and what they mean (and why you cant talk in stages)
-How to read the side wall of a tire
-What is camber/toe/caster and how does lowering my car change these

Complete whim but I washed the Jeep earlier this week and I don't like it being clean.. :vomit:
Anybody want to make a 4x4 run tomorrow sometime during the day..? I'm very flexible and have no classes.. We can run the road off 33w for short or run Flag Pole up by Reddish Knob.. I have no problems leading but won't venture out just by my onesy.. If there is an interest with another vehicle I'll happily pile as many MMer's into the Heep as I can fit for a little muddy trail action.

I'd like to get a portable air tank for track/auto-x events so I can pump up the tires on my car. Harbor freight lists a 5 gallon and an 11 gallon. 5 gallon is $10 cheaper. Which one should I get?

I'll beat Justin to this one.
Not sure I'll be there, but it looks like its a strong possibility. My girlfriend  wants to see a band in Richmond that weekend, so as long as I can find some extra cash, I'll be in attendance.
