I am looking for an E36 sedan, only thing it has to have is a 5 speed. I figured with all the E36's around here this was as good a place as any to start looking...

Just wondering if anyone knew of a business that rents out trailers -- this is for a the civic so I'd imagine a 16ft one would be ok. I'd like to stay away from Uhaul as I've heard horror stories of their reservations, condition of trailers.

Good for a HTIB or mid-low gaming machine, used it to play iRacing for the last 2 years. Keeps up with that game just fine really as long as you turn off AA and extra fancy shadows. I'll ship it to you for $30, includes low profile and regular bracket.

I got bored today I had the day off and some time to kill. Im doing a gasket match on the head that is going to accept the manifold I recently ported. The manifold went from a stock 3290cc to 4485cc! Its also a super long runner set up for some TQ.

I started with these tools: carbide bit, sanding drum, flap wheel, and a sharpie


You start with marking the head (or manifold if you are doing one of those) with a sharpie. I put my reusable manifold gasket on the head, clamped it in place (some people tape it), made some realignment marks (so I can check things multiple times), and then marked the difference between the head and the gasket. I also ran a plum bob and laid down a flat line to measure the ports from you can do this if you want its a little over board.


I then removed the gasket and started with the carbide bit. This is what it looks like when you first start. Take your time dont cut to deep into the head or take too much out at once. Follow the flow of the port and try to keep it uniform for best results.


The next step is to use the sanding drum. I used an 80 grit drum. Again, follow the port, donÔÇÖt take too much off and smooth out any issues you had with the carbide bit.


I also recheck after this step. To see what needs to get worked down and how close I really am the sharpie doesnt always work out to be 100% accurate.


The next step was to use the flap wheel 200ish grit. Work your way in a little and make sure you keep things smooth.


We started with: 47.89mm (.05mm variance between all the ports on the plumed line)


I ended up with: 50.94mm (my variance was still .05mm)


Hopefully this matches up well with the manifold I ported.

So every year I usually make a google calendar with track and autocross stuff within a reasonable distance. Does anyone have anything like that I can mooch off?

My name is Chris Flaak and I am a JMU Alum. I attended JMU with Justin, Blair, Goodspeed, and the rest of that crew. I attended some of the Auto-X events, MM Meetings and did ride-alongs up 33.

Actually, come to think of it, the first time I met Blair, I was the passenger in his MKIII VR6 GTI going up 33.... I dont think I ever clutched a door handle so hard in my life! HAHA!

Some of the best and most memorable times I had at JMU were involved with MM, even though I didnt have a car car back then. I drove a 99 Ford Explorer, my first car (I still own it). After I graduated, I purchased a 04 Jaguar X-Type Sport (3.0L, 5spd, NAVI, AWD). I loved that car a lot but after my then girlfriend died in a car crash involving her similar 03 Jaguar X-Type 5spd, I stopped driving mine. I didnt feel as safe in it as I once did.

I sold the Jag in Aug of 2010 and just drove the Explorer. Since, I have been having issues with the Explorer (13 years old) and finally decided to purchase a new car. After having the AWD in the Jaguar, I knew I couldnt go back to RWD, and I needed to have a manual transmission. My commute to work is only 10 mins and it is against traffic. Being a lover of Audi and the Quattro system, I looked at the b7/b8 A4 platforms. However, coming from a "luxury" car, I couldnt justify the maintenance costs I would spend on the Audi over the life of the vehicle.

So with Audi out of the running, it brought me to my next love.... The Subaru Impreza WRX STi. I had always loved Subaru's but never owned one and always thought the interior was lacking. I decided to check them out again but knew I would have a hard time convincing the girlfriend to go for the $36K price tag. So I did some personal comparisons and decided that the WRX still fit all of my needs and cost $10k less (10k for mods :roll: ). That being said, I have a order in to Subaru for a 2012 Dark Grey Metallic WRX Sedan... It is expected to arrive on 3/10/2011 and I have to tell you this is the worst wait I have ever had to endure.

Once the car comes in, slowly the mods will follow. I really hope to make it back for some more MM events as the year continues. I most likely wont track the car at all, as it will be my DD, but I would love to do some drives and attend the auto crosses.

Anyway, that is about all.

I'd like to get some decent looking numbers for my car instead of the painters tape I used last time.

Suggestions? Magnetic? Vinyl?

Mentioned it to a few on here but I am currently working on a fully written, extremely thorough detail manual on all aspects of car care. This will of course feature suggested products, tips, tricks and step by step pics.
I am thinking of completing this come end of May.
Anyone think they could take my written material and put it in a layout to make it look like a manual/ book? I'm thinking about getting a couple binded versions to pass out and include quick summary sheets (laminated) at the end of each section so that you can take it out of a binder and use it at your side when working on your car?
Any ideas or thoughts?
